In Japan, it has long been said that fools don’t catch colds.

Small farmers are disappearing in Japan — low income and no one to take over.

Unnamed, beautiful rice fields are kept alive by elderly farmers nearing the end of their lives.

They grow rice at a loss to preserve tradition.

No one asked them to — they do it out of loyalty to their ancestors.
