Oriana, a pupil in the acting program, talks about what it was like auditioning without professional training and her choice to start training in the acting program at the studio.

Q: Oriana, tell me about your background in acting. What were you doing before you came to the studio?

A: Before I started at the studio, I had been studying Theater in general at Hunter College. This was a very good education, but I believed that as soon as I graduated, I wasn't ready to start auditioning and I was not sure what had been missing for me personally. I chose to start looking into this studio where I had a good deal of buddies that was here before, and they said horrible things about it. I was like,"Okay, I'll try it."

Q: Have you ever studied the Meisner technique until you started the program at Maggie Flanigan Studio?

A: I was 18 when I found this studio that is centered on the Meisner technique. For me, that was a weird experience because I was very young, and it felt like the program was in a lot of ways and that I was not prepared to dive into these parts of me. It was great once I began at this studio because I realized that the technique isn't intrusive at all. It allows you to find yourself, but it should not feel as though you're being violated emotionally. That was my experience back, and it turned me off for just a little bit, after which I decided to try it a couple of decades later.

Q: What's Meisner training in Maggie Flanigan studio different than what you expected?

A: I'm not sure what I was expecting to be honest, but it's demystified acting for me in a fantastic manner, where today I have much more respect to it. I am aware that nothing is random. Everything you're watching there's an whole process, and knowing what that process feels rewarding, versus simply being like,"Oh, I am talented. I think I can dive into a script" I really don't know if that makes any sense.

Q: Were there any specific issues that led you to seek professional actor training?

I'd go into a living room and only flat, browse the script, and it'd be super flat. I was like,"I trust they're getting what I'm trying to do." It was dreadful, both for them and for me watching each other go through this. I'm comfortable with making decisions and promising the timing of being on point and feel like I had something to say. I feel like being at the studio has instructed me that I am more of an artist than I gave myself credit for before and I really do want to state particular things and make them clear.

Q: How did you feel about auditions until you began the two-year acting program?

I was not ready to go out and audition, it just felt like another thing I needed to do after college. After trying it out for a little bit, it only felt like I was not getting anywhere. It was not because I was not right, it was only because I did not understand what I had been doing.

Q: If you began auditioning again , how do you feel about auditions currently?

A: Certainly. I believe when you go to an audition, you constantly feel like the people auditioning you have all of the power. Now, since I understand what I am doing and I'm sure I'll know more once my two years they are done, I feel as if it's a dialogue at auditions. They are not as intimidating anymore.

A: Well, I used to do outfits also, and I was assisting someone on a display. I recall the most important actress; she blew me away. There were three actors in the show. It had been mad. I recall everyone was talented, really hardworking, but something which stood out to me about her was that the stage managers loved her because she would hit every little thing that she had to do and maintaining the same emotional life for as I saw the other actors had to play around a little bit, which was also excellent.The actuality that they could not be as consistent as she was, and I had been wondering how she did it. When I asked her, she said that she would come to the studio. At that point, I was sold. That could be it for me personally.

A: That is something which I can't really-- As soon as I walked from the elevator and that I came in, I was like,"That is it." I didn't know what it was. There is just something about the distance that feels sacred. It's just like it matches up with your passion like you're walking in and you do not know what you are doing, then you open the door. I recall there was this little thing on one of the walls that it is like,"The home of the serious actor." I remember looking at that and being like,"Okay, I am home. That is it. Here is another step"

UPC Renewables eyes two million-dollar wind power farms in Vietnam

Representatives of UPC said that Quang Binh has favorable conditions for investors toinvest in wind power projects thanks to the convenient transportation system, especiallyseaport for transporting materials and equipment. The first farm will cost more than US$ 88 million to be and build designed with a capacity of 50MW and a power output of 158 million KWh a year. The second farm will cover an area of 130 ha and has a designed capacity of 250 MW and apower output of 760 million kWh per year. The investment capital spent for this project isestimated at over VND10 .2 trillion (US$ 450 million). Nguyen Huu Hoai, Chairman of Quang Binh People's Committee said that these are bigprojects in supplying clean energy, including wind power, contributing to increasing thelocal budget. Localities and departments should facilitate investor to implement theproject smoothly as planned. In 2017, AC Energy and its partners sealed the purchase and acquisition of Chevron'sgeothermal assets and operations in Indonesia. This includes the Darajat and Salak geothermal fields in West Java which has a combinedcapacity of 637 megawatts (MW) of steam and power. When I was young, I was in awe of something my mom brought home from the grocery store one day. It was a bottle of mouthwash that had a small cup on the top that allowed you to squeeze out the right amount of mouthwash for one use. This mouthwash dispenser was something that I had never seen before, and at my age, I thought it was one of the coolest things I have seen. Other things have taken over in the awe category since then, but at that time, I was definitely impressed with it and had fun using it too.

Though this mouthwash dispenser was a great thing, it did get me into trouble. I could not stop squeezing it up, and then to hide what I had done, I had to use it. My mother could not figure out why a large bottle of mouthwash was disappearing within a week. I suspect my brother had the same problem, as his breath was always suspiciously fresh for someone who protest each and every time he was told to brush his teeth. After a while, she stopped buying the bottles with the mouthwash dispenser, and I think the problem was solved. I am relatively sure that she figured out what was going on.

There was one problem with this type of mouthwash dispenser. They were really great and gave out just the right amount, but they were also terribly unsanitary. The mouthwash came up into the cup that was attached to the bottle, and you then dumped that in your mouth. I guess we could have poured that amount into a cup, but my mother never bought the disposable bathroom cups. They look more like what you would think of as a coffee urn or dispenser that you can use without worrying about the person before you.
