This is what we've all been trying to say the whole time. Unprecedented coverage from media companies resulted in unprecedented viewership. The individual talent level is no different from what we've seen in women's basketball over the last 30 years. What's different is the media coverage. As quickly as they can give it to you, they can take it all away. That's why we can't have all our media coverage focused on one player. That gives media an excuse to turn the lights off if the sports reality doesn't match their narrative. If several stars are given equal coverage and investment, then media won't have time to look away.
I think one of my favourite things about playoffs is finding out who can grow a beard or not. Like there's always something really fun about a clean-shaven sophomore suddenly turning up with dark shadow on his face, or a vet who looks like a werewolf by Game 3, or a brown-haired boy revealing he has the ginger beard gene, or 27-year old Mitch Marner still unsuccessful in his endeavours
