1918: Court Refuses to Fine Woman in Man’s Attire

“St. Louis, Mo., Dec 14.– Ruling that male attire was not unbecoming to Mrs. Mary Bertha Schmidt, alias ‘Mister Schmidt,’ judge Hogan, in police court here, refused to fine the young woman who for two years posed as a man and who ‘married’ her cousin, Anna Assade, last October.  ‘I think you look very nice,’ said the court. Mrs. Schmidt was clad in her neatly pressed trousers and pinchback coat. She explained she had adopted the garments because she could earn $80 a month as a man and $6 a week as a woman.  ‘If a woman can earn $4 a day by reason of wearing trousers, I say wear ‘em,’ said the court, and ‘Mister Schmidt’ walked out of court with a smile on ‘his’ face.”

Progress Report!

For real this time.

Something actually happened!

I’m finally painting again.

This guy. THIS FREAKING GUY.

It took me about 2 hours to paint him.

TWO. HOURS.

I also decided to give names to all of my battlesuits.

This guy is Juntas J'karra.

This translates (roughly) into “Mirroring the side of a ship”.

Now that sounds a little odd, but I named him that because he’s usually the one who holds the big guns (by that, I mean Plasma guns/ Fusion Blasters), and the broadsides of ships are usually where a lot of fire power comes from.

I hope I’m making some sense here.

Along with Juntas here, I also got some paint for my Fire Warriors’ skins.

It’s called “Russ Grey”, and I feel like it does a fine job of replicating their skin color.

I only needed it for these four guys.

I guess that means that I’ll be using more helmetless Fire Warriors in the future.

Speaking of which, I will probably hold off on buying anything Warhammer 40k for a little while now.

That Tau codex is sounding more and more promising with every little bit I can find (again, most of this is probably rumors, but they’re something to look forward to.)

I mean, giving Fire Warriors BS 4 for 35 points a squad? I think yes.

I always found it odd that these soldiers trained almost exclusively in ranged weaponry are such mediocre shots without someone with a laser pointer telling them where to shoot.

Considering they’re pathetic in CC, and any attempt at physical assault can only be described as “adorable puppies trying to snuggle a T-rex”, you’d figure that they focused more on teaching them to aim.

Also, talk about a dreadknight sized battlesuit (nicknamed the Uber Suit) that’s Toughness 7 (or 8) with a plasma weapon that ignores cover, two (not twin linked) railguns, and a Smart Missile system gets me hot and bothered (I’m so sorry you had to read that).

For the Greater Good, and all that.
