Ok so I normally don't do these types of post but it's been bothering me a bit so imma yap/rant(?) lol (I do wanna also say this is not hate nor shade to anyone else, it's just my opinions and I'm totally up for discussion too! Ok so I wanna start this off by saying that I love both scandalabra and Jon wick!(there is a bit of a preference due to personal experiences tied to it but overall I like both sides of him, do not take this as me disliking one or the other lol) he's one of my favorite dataables in game because of his personality, route and(ofc~) ray chases voice acting❤️.

Recently I've seen a lot of discussion with Scandalabra vs Jon wick, as in "oh if you don't like scandalabra but like Jon you don't deserve him"(which btw fair I get it, shadowlord is my fav in the game so far and I don't particularly like it when some people trash on his true form in favor of his first form in game. I will come back to this soon though) which is a fair sentiment but I'm seeing the reverse a lot too and that's kinda "more accepted"(from what *I've* seen ofc) and I find it a bit weird?

Btw I don't mean preferring scandalabra or Jon, that's perfectly fine and I respect that!(that's why if people like/prefer shadowlord over his true form that's fine, i love both of his sides! As long as they don't trash either one i don't really care lol, same applies here as you'll see) I mean more so people calling others a fake fan for preferring jon(or vice versa). Like some people say "you should like both sides of him"(I agree preferences aside) but then turn around to say "actually this side of him is actually bad therefore I'll only acknowledge one of his sides"(which again preferences are fine but why knock the other side of him down to lift up the part you love?) So this is me giving my thoughts on the other part of him i don't see people "defending" as much:

IN DEFENSE OF JON WICK:

I think its perfectly fine to dislike him/prefer scandalabra/not care for or hate the plot twist. When I first found out about i loved it because I thought it was a fun and hilarious twist(when I was younger I used to be a big danganronpa fan, dreadful ik, and one of my favorite characters in the franchise was Celestia Ludenberg so ofc I was gonna love a character that was similar to her) and i liked the rest of it and his ending. Do I think its perfect? No. Do I think it needs work? Yes lol(I'm happy that he has two endings where he can be either side of himself! Again whoever prefers either side or loves both can just go for the ending they want. That being said I do wish we got to see his opinion on himself rather than "yea I'm a fraud, i made shit up and it was fun but now the jigs up so ig I'm bummed out" to then being John Wick but for like silverware😭. Like there could have been more set up i mean)

That being said I can't hate it because I relate to him in certain aspects(with both sides of him). All my life I've felt(and kinda am😭) like an antisocial outcast, this is definitely due to the fact that I'm neurodivergent but even then my few friends who were the same, would still be more popular and thriving more than me lol(which good for them! Cool people so they deserve it~) so the concept of this man being a regular(counterfeit object) guy making up a whole personality to feel unique and feel loved made me like him(aside from the fact that it was annoyingly funny /said affectionately). Aside from the obvious joke he's referencing i always thought it was supposed to be a route where he sees that people can also like him for who he really is just as much as his fake persona he also likes(unfortunately no one except the player likes him much less tolerate him, partly for good reasons at times but that's not the point rn😭).

LIKE THIS IS HIS REACTION WHEN YOU SAY YOU LIKE HIM EVEN AFTER THE REVEAL IN MAGGIES ROUTE(which btw he is just as surprised when you choose him as scandalabra albeit a little differently, as far as I can see he just wants you to like one part of him at least😭):

LIKE IDK I RELATE TO THIS, LIKE YOU LIKE ME FOR WHO I AM HUH???. (Also sorry for the quality of the pics💔) also will say that I'm not the biggest fan of the dialogue option you say after this( you cant get jon without dissing scandalabra and I don't like that😭, especially since when you say you prefer his exaggerated persona you don't get an option to diss/say something negative about jon in favor for scandalabra. Could have gone without or we should have had an option to say you like both imo.

Love the differences between scandalabra and jon when they get realized btw... scandalabra being excited and surprised at the moisture (ohoho😭🤭) contrasted to Jon's slow acceptance of his new human body in a way where he's not immediately sure what this means for him

And now that were here with endings:

I totally respect the opinions of others who prefer one ending or the other(for whatever reason) they can dislike one of them too that's fine. Me personally I actually can't choose lol, each ending in my opinion are good for him for his respective personality/side. Some say he's happier in one or in the other its because he's cooler. But I see it in a way that it represents that either way he can find happiness/fulfillment because there will always be things he'll do that other people will appreciate (and ofc we the Mc love him regardless so there's that too❤️).

In the scandalabra route even though he fails to integrate to high society he still finds happiness by being able to do people's hair and get the juicy gossip he's always looked for! In the house no one(except us ofc) liked him at all but here they love him for his charms!(love the detail about him reserving his best skills only for us btw💖)

Meanwhile in the Jon Wick he kicks(and maybe kills?😭) counterfeiters asses for justice and for what he went through(and yk beating the crap out of people always helps ease ones issues lol). For him to go from just some guy, who the literal narrator says that he was destined to be a nobody, become someone who makes a mark where he's known for the good he does is freaking amazing!! Also will say that i think the reason why he's not a diva(as much! Idc he will always be one to me no matter the change) is because his goals have changed in the sense that he doesn't need the attention of others to be fulfilled(and again this isn't a diss to scandalabra, he actually does the same in the other ending because instead of doing it in a house where people hate him he's doing it in a place where people *love* him for that! That's why it works there).

My point is I think he's just as happy/fulfilled/"complete" in either route for different reasons! One(imo ofc) isn't inherently better than the other because overall he gets to accomplish what he sets out to do and is *appreciated* for it. So that's why i think are both important too(and maybe this is just me being delusional or thinking about it too much lol, but idc since I'm happy for him either way)

IN CONCLUSION:

Damn I yapped a lot lol, I don't even expect this to get much traction but if even one person reads through this and gets where I'm coming from or wants to discuss with me that's enough for me lol. Point is you can have a preference, just don't put down scandalabra or jon(or both?) In favor of the other. Well whoever read this all thanks for listening to my ramblings about this character! For better or for worse I've been thinking about him and I'd love to discuss more. maggie is peak autism rep for me. her speaking cadence, the oddly precise wording she uses, and the fixation on uncovering mysteries (finding truths and lies) just SCREAMS 'strong sense of justice' to me, along with her view of everyone being 'suspects'. everyone gets a moral evaluation from her, she can't help it!! (same queen 😭)

More characters design talk! This time it’s about hair for a few characters. In Blake Jenning’s video where he was ranking the Date Everything characters- he noticed that Keyes’ hair was an eighth note.

Absolutely outstanding design there.

Moving on to other characters, here we have Penelope, Stefan, Maggie, and Mateo.

Starting with Penelope, her hair resembles that of pen scribbles- very nice. Throwing in the blue and red pen scribbles is a nice touch.

Now for Stefan. The hair on the side of his head (marked with a circle there) looks like the fire under a burner on a gas stove. Very cool detail

Maggie seems to just have normal hair, but the more I thought about it- it *might* be a play on the term “red herring”. She is after all a magnifying glass. It’s a stretch but it’s a neat thing to think about.

And now for Mateo. For a while, I couldn’t figure out what his hair was supposed to resemble, but then it came to me- His hair is rather wispy and feathery, which made me think of a down blanket. (down feathers make up the insulation of it iirc). When I put that together in my mind, it made a whole lot more sense. Really interesting detail.
