This scene was so incredible to read. Hong Honger's blood sulling Xie Lian's pure white robes to the point that they are soaked juxtaposed with Xie Lian's pure anger and Hong Honger's need to stay in daixia's arms; to never let go.

I wonder how off-putting it was when Wei Wuxian came back and he was in that social limbo where some people knew he was Wei Wuxian but most people thought he was still Mo Xuanyu.

Imagine some weird twink gets banished and then shows up to a party one day with completely different mannerisms hanging off the arms of the weird grump nobody really likes but everybody respects as an authority.

His grin is familiar, but doesn't fit that face quite right.

He's definitely still a little freak, but he seems to have the best handle of what's going on.

He walks like a man who has killed with his own bare hands, but surely a harmless, weak man like Mo Xuanyu hasn't killed anything more dangerous than a mosquito.

But it puts a weird anxiety in your stomach, the knowledge that something is not quite right but you have no idea what it could possibly be.

The fact that Xie Lian is too embarrassed to use his communication array password so Hua Cheng always has to reach out first so when Xie Lian does reach out, Hua Cheng knows shit is real

look, I'm all here for the 'Hua Cheng Looks Exactly As Monstrous As Everyone Says And Xie Lian Is Just So Used To The Horror That He Only Sees A Hot Man' idea. It's cool, it's deep, and it's fun.

But! Xie Lian is also the 'oh wow character x looks so ordinary' guy who thinks hua cheng is so pretty even his 800 years of abstinence are surely expected to crumble at the sight of him, so consider this one: hua cheng is actually one Damn Fine of a specimen, drop-dead gorgeous, era-defining beauty, but it's hard to notice with all the Glaring™ and Snarling™ and Evil Laughter™ going on, because let's be real the man is terrifying, so imagine the surprise of the heavens when, on one fine day, the ensemble cast go after xie lian to ask for his help or assistance or guidance or whatever, and they walk in on hua cheng – scourge of the heavens hua cheng, crimson rain sought flower hua cheng, supreme ghost king hua cheng – laughing sweetly with his highness trying to smother him with kisses all over his face, and at the sight of his joy and adoration they have one split second of going "Wow Crimson Rain is so fucking hot" before hua cheng notices them and starts hissing like a cat.
