Keeping them caged is not the solution!
Tumblr media
To say, we live in a society that is supposed to treat men and women equally. However that seldom happens. Men once again continue to exercise unlimited freedom and women continue to rebel and demand equality in this so called egalitarian society. This scenario is quite prevalent in the colleges of India where girls have an early in time and a bunch of other strict rules, whereas guys can do anything they want and nobody bats an eye.
Girls are required to provide valid reasons for weekend night-outs in writing, wear clothes that are deemed appropriate by the authorities and are seldom allowed to stay out late. They’re also required to seek their parent’s permission to keep as a record every time they are leaving the campus. Boys on the other hand don’t even have an in-time. Girls have often protested that these rules have curtailed their free movement and are an infringement on their privacy. But these complaints have not been taken into consideration.
According to most of the colleges, these rules have been introduced with the view to strengthen security measures, as the country of late has witnessed a growing number of crimes against women. A lot of the parents agree with the institution’s worry but girls have been pretty agitated because of the regressive norms.
However it is a fact that putting the onus on women to protect themselves from harm is a subtle reinforcement of victim blaming and is further expected to backfire. Keeping them caged is not the solution.
The society needs to wake up to this cry for help. The situation is alarming. Women are being given stupid reasons like their own safety to keep them inside the house. That’s not a solution. It is in fact, the beginning of a new problem. The calamity is staring us right in the face.
If we don’t wake up to the facts now, it might just be too late.

10 Signs That Show You Need To Move Out And Find A New Place
Moving out of your current place is a hard decision to make. The sheer thought of lugging all that stuff you’ve been hoarding is worrying enough to leave that thought behind for another day. However, we don’t want you to wake up one day and realizing the house has been hoarding you instead, So here are a few signs you might have to move out and find a new place.
1. The rats at your place have stopped looking like rats and look more like those guys in steroid advertisements.
2. The beggars who live on the road nearby have offered to buy you an air freshener.
3. Your friends refuse to park their vehicles anywhere near your house.
4. No one ever shows up when you throw a house party.
5. Your plumbing has gotten so leaky, you sometimes just lay down to take a bath.
6.  Your carpet is so dusty that when you dust it, it’s like being caught in a sandstorm.
7. One of your friends came over and caught an infectious disease from your couch.
8. You are so paranoid about the chances of your ceiling giving in, you sleep under the bed.
9. Your floorboards are so squeaky it feels like you’re living in a haunted house.
10. You haven’t taken out the trash in so long your house has been deemed a bio hazard.

The Mess of Stress?
Tumblr media
We all have hectic schedules, be it academic or professional. Colleges have reopened and as usual mondays the bane of our existence beckons. At time it gets to be way too much to handle, so it’s okay to take a step back once in a while and take a breather.
One of the best ways to begin is to breathe. Yes breathing helps when you get too stressed out, try yoga even if you’re not regular just once or twice a week should get you sorted out. Alternatively you could always make the most out of your weekends. Been avoiding your mom? Make that call, have a lunch date out. Play with your dog.
Even a drink with your best friend could do the trick. See it’s really not rocket science, all you have to do is realize the possibility of a life outside of your demanding schedule. If you’ve been overworked, take some time off, go to bali. Heck you could go to mussoorie and find some peace of mind!
but most importantly make the most of the small moments, the 5 minute smoke break, the half an hour power nap. Stress is really all in the mind and you know what? Like all your fantasies, ultimately you’ll come to realize that stress is just not worth the stress.
Working out is also a great way to relax, to burn up all the pent up anxiety and worries. Some head to the beach and some to the treadmill, to each their own really

6 Horror Movies to Watch with your Roommate
Tumblr media
It’s been a dull day and you aren’t even close to tired, even though it’s 01:00 in the morning. What do you do? A sure shot way to forget sleep for another few hours is to engage in some nail biting, hiding-behind-pillows fun. Here is a list of 6 horror movies you and roommate must watch together. Also, because they are too scary to be seen alone. Happy sleepless nights to you!
The Conjuring (US), 2013
The worst thing one can do is tell you that a movie as frightening as this is based on true events. It just makes the whole experience of sitting through it uncomfortably real. The recreation of the ghastly things that one family went through when they moved to this haunted mansion will make you scream in horror. And for a long time, you’ll be scared every time someone claps.
Blair Witch Project (US), 1999
The way this film has been shot makes it creepy as hell. Shot on a handycam, in a ‘found footage’ style, this film is way way scarier than Paranormal Activity. It will make you think twice before acting adventurous around unknown places.
The Shining (US), 1980
Film critics have called it the best horror movie ever made. Stanley Kubrik’s masterpiece is one hell of a ride through hauntingly beautiful cinematography, stellar performances and sound effects that’ll make you cover your ears. The slow pace of the film adds to the horror. Jack Nicholson as the writer/hotel keeper who loses his mind, screaming “Daddy’s home!” has been called one of the most iconic film scenes ever.
The Silence Of The Lambs (US), 1991
Watch this one for Anthony Hopkins’ unbelievable performance. It was so convincing, many thought he was actually a cannibal. He had to make a public announcement that he never tasted human flesh and had no intentions of doing so in the future!
The Exorcism Of Emily Rose (US), 2005
Once again, the fact that it’s a true story makes it all the more scarier. If you love getting thrills out of frightening scenes, this is one film that packs those by the dozen!
Oculus (US) 2013
An underrated movie in terms of the horror movie hype, this movie lives up to its name and more. You won’t see a lot of ghosts popping up but the brilliant yet intricate plot and storyline will make you feel uneasy for days. Also, you will not want to go near your mirror after this.
And wait, BOO!

5 Must visit bookshops in Delhi
Tumblr media
All of us that love to read find solace in a good bookstore. Leaving aside the big commercialized bookstores, here are a few that have still retained their charms and originality.
1. People Tree Bookshop: Popular for its thinking hippie’s Tees and artistically done accessories like bags, hair bands and watches, People’s Tree, circa 1990, has a cozy bookshop too. Opened in 2001, the book chamber has a good number of Hindi novels. The rest of the collection is eclectic. There are sections on cinema, theater and music.
Where: 8, Regal Building, Connaught Place
2. Oxford Book Store: The ambiance is browser-friendly but books are arranged messily. Go for the blueberry muffin in their in-house tea lounge.
Where: Statesman House, First Floor, 148, Barakhamba Road
3. Full Circle: The Full Circle bookstore is a classic example of a café-cum-bookstore, at the Khan Market outlet as it is located above Cafe Turtle. This is a perfect place where one can have a good read while enjoying the food at the café. The bookshop is stocked with a number of books on a wide variety of topics. The place has a beautiful appeal to it – thanks to the extensive use of wood, handmade Buddha wall hangings and the creative atmosphere. It also has outlets in GK I & Nizamuddin East.
Where: Shop No.23, Khan Market
4. New Book Depot: The current owner, Rakesh Chandra, gets upset if customers handle his books carelessly. The shop has retained its old world charm of low-hanging fans, high ceilings, rosewood shelves and rickety stairs. The shelves dedicated to the Penguin classics are worth a visit.
Where: B-18, Inner Circle, Connaught Place
5. Mayday Café and Bookstore: A bookstore in a place and ambiance where you’d never be able to find one, you’d be very surprised when you come across this gem. They sell books to customers at the minimum profit so reading as a habit is not commercialized. It is a beautiful place with open spaces and comfortable sofas for reading on for hours. A small screening area is used to host plays and film screenings. The freshly brewed tea and interactive store workers are just an added advantage.
Where: 2254/2A, Ground Floor, Shadi Khampur, West Patel Nagar
Hope you have great fun at these bookshops. And if you’re looking for roommates or PG in Delhi (Nariana & Patel Nagar) you know where to find it – Nidus.com

10 Things your roommate will never judge you for!
Tumblr media
Normal bounds of social conduct don’t apply to a relationship between roommates. Here we have a list of 10 things that normal people might find gross or even disgusting but something your roommate would never judge you for.
Calling your mom too often: In front of friends you say you only call your mom once a week but your roommate is the only one who knows that you actually call her once a day. There is no judgment from their end though because they’re floating in the same boat.
Binge watching TV series: We all have those days when you stay in bed and watch your favorite show. You don’t plan on staying in bed all day but the ending of an episode is just so good that you have to watch the next one to see what happens.
Eating an excessive amount of food: When you have a roommate, they will never judge you by how much you eat. Most likely they will eat just as much as you or convince you that you need that extra bag of chips or candy.
Using perfume on clothes instead of actually washing them: I know it sounds gross but someday laundry is just not an option and you need to go out. So you dig at the bottom of the pile, spritz some perfume on and you’re good to go.
Sleeping all the time: Most people need a nap halfway through the day. When you see your roommate sleeping and looking so comfy, you decide to climb into bed and sleep it off too, no matter if only for a few hours.
Never cleaning your side of the room or making your bed: While a clean room and a made up bed seems to be a good idea when company is around, what is the point of going through all the effort only for yourself? Why make the bed when you know you have to climb back in at the end of the night?
Overhearing embarrassing phone conversations:There is no guarantee of privacy when you have a roommate. So instead of hiding and talking secretively, you decide to go with the flow. No matter how many embarrassing pet names you might call your boyfriend/girlfriend, you’ll encounter no judgment from your roommate.
Farting, burping or other bodily functions: “Better out than in”, they say. After you’ve established a level of comfort with your roommate, you’re wired to think of such instances as normal to your bond.
Skipping the gym: Your roommate is the one person to whom you can say “I’ll start working out from tomorrow” to and they won’t hold it over your head.
Listening to embarrassing while getting ready to go out: Everybody likes to bring out their jam when they’re getting dressed to go out. And mind you, these are songs that you would normally not play in front of company but you don’t hear any complaints from the roommate. Because they’ll probably be grooving to it with you.
Life is so much more fun with a good roommate. If you long for such an experience with your own roommate and don’t know where to begin to look for one, connect with Nidus.com to find your roommate and the perfect room on rent in Delhi ( Nariana & Patel Nagar) all broker free!

8 Signs you actually love food more than people!
Tumblr media
All of us love food. But do you love food more than you love people? If you can relate to these signs, consider yourself a true foodie.
You are extra nice to your roommates if you notice they’re starting to cook a meal. And then when they ask if you’d like any, you pause, act like you hadn’t thought about it, and then say “sure, I guess as if you’re doing it because you don’t want to hurt their feelings.
You have more apps on your phone for food than for anything else.
Sometimes when the food delivery guy shows up, you yell “food’s here!” to your empty apartment so he doesn’t think it’s all for you. Even though it is and you will eat it all in one sitting.
You absolutely love Valentine’s Day, even when you’re single, because there’s chocolate at the front of all the grocery stores and you can pretend you’re buying it for someone else.
Your friends know they have a much higher chance of getting you to come over and hang out with them if they mention the magical words “Take Out.”
The moment you were most attracted to your significant other was when you were hungover and they showed up at your door with a large pizza.
Sometimes during a boring and taxing class or mandatory get together, you start making a detailed to-do list of what food you’re going to eat, and in what order, the minute you walk in the door from outside.
If you go out to a restaurant for your birthday, you pretend you don’t mind if they include several forks for your friends when they bring out your free slice of birthday cake. But in reality, you are dead inside.
Let accommodation worries not come under your way of food. Connect with Nidus.com and find the best rooms in Delhi (Nariana & Patel nagar ), Broker Free!
