Darius used to sneak off to his mentor’s room and ask to sleep there with them bc he didn’t feel safe around other the scouts

Paralleling to Hunter asking Darius to stay with him in his room because he didn’t feel safe enough to sleep alone after certain interactions with other scouts and/or belos

16 y/o Darius: …Would it be alright if I sleep here?

Darius’ Mentor: Aren’t you a bit old for that kiddo?

16 y/o Darius: I don’t feel safe around the older scouts… Please I won’t be a bother I can sleep on the floor if needed-!

No idea if this makes sense but yeah uhmmm I love pulling fluffy parallels between Darius and his mentor’s dynamic with Darius and Hunter <3

I honestly tend to think Darius (and Lilith) could stay at their houses in the early stages of them being at the EC, but I could definitely see Darius staying at the castle sometimes because his was a specific case of training with the Golden Guard.

It also makes sense that some scouts would want to pick on him because a lot of them seemed to lack some morals and Darius would be the one kid staying around.

Plus the mentor being generally like "that's just how things are" but pushing that aside because he has a soft spot for Darius is always SO good.

Darius would later probably have a feeling that he knows what's bothering Hunter, though if it was Belos it was probably worse than pictured 😞 Later, bringing up how he was with the mentor will help Hunter have an easier time opening up tho.
