i was curious so i looked up what story alana was reading to abigail and it's about a inmate who escapes a prison and ends up killing an entire family. she was reading that to a teenage girl who just narrowly escaped being killed by her serial killer father. anyway i never want to hear about how normal and well adjusted alana is ever again

Look how lovely this fabric is. I’m washing it so it won’t wrinkle up after i sew it, then I’ll try to fix up my doublet pattern and embroider the sleeves <3

Artist Asks!
Do you prefer traditional drawing, or digital?
How long have you been drawing?
How many classes have you taken?
Do you have a DeviantArt, personal website, or art blog?
What’s your favorite thing to draw?
What’s your least favorite thing to draw?
How often do you use references?
Do you draw professionally, or just for fun?
How much time do you spend drawing on an average day?
Are you confident about your art?
How many art-related blogs do you follow?
Is it okay for people to ask you about your process?
Do you prefer to keep your art personal, or do you like drawing things for other people?
Do you ever collaborate with others?
How long does an average piece take you to complete?
Do you draw more today than you did in the past, or do you draw less?
Do you think you’re justified in giving other people art advice?
What are you currently trying to improve on?
What is the most difficult thing for you to draw?
What is the easiest thing for you to draw?
Do you like to challenge yourself?
Are you confident that you’re improving steadily?
Do you draw more fanart, or more original art?
Do you feel jealous when you see other people’s art, or inspired? (Be honest!)
Do you like to draw in silence, or with music?
For digital artists: what program(s) do you use?
For digital artists: how many layers does a typical piece require?
For traditional artists: what medium do you like most? (Pencil, charcoals, etc)
For traditional artists: How do you usually start on a big piece? (Light sketch, colored lead, sketchpaper, etc)
What inspires you to not just make art, but to be a better artist?

i love dungeon meshi and the way it views people in a way i grew to think no one else ever would. the way it frames bodies and nudity without it needing to be inherently sexual, and any fanservice or sexualization there is only feels very honest rather than perverse. the neutral way things like the harpies or humanoid monsters have exposed boobs and nipples. or the farcille bath scene being fanservice in a way but feeling intimate in an entirely different way than that to me. it feels so removed from the weight of the way others view people with beauty standards and other imposed characteristics—yet it paints people as beautiful around its own definition based on the way people actually are. the way it frames human beings as a whole, as living like any animal does with universal and inescapable needs. no matter how we see ourselves we still get hungry, we still get hurt, we still get sleepy, we still get thirsty. the characters have magic and anime fighting strength but remain as fragile as any living thing, being able to be killed in one shot. and every shape the different characters take with their diverse bodies is drawn with equal appreciation for their form. there are many things dungeon meshi feels passionate about, such as how clearly invested ryoko kui had to be in zoology and stuff for a lot of worldbuilding, but that wouldnt be complete without this touch too. i just love how much this series was clearly created by someone deeply in love with and invested in human beings.

The stool?
Usually that kind of stool at the foot of the bed is used to sit on when putting on men’s shoes with a shoe horn.
If it’s for cuckold or otherwise watching Haarlep, it could be a humiliation thing, either for himself or making guests watch, or likely just the fact it’s innocuous as a stool rather than a much more obvious chair or throne.
i was grabbing House of Hope references for my Haarlep drawing and noticed there's a stool in front of the bed

Favorite thing about renaissance faires is that they have fuck all to to with the renaissance. This thang is not about historical anything this is about dressing up like a fairy and watching a joust

yall do realize just because something has been a target of misogynistic criticism, that doesn't make stanning it completely uncritically in response some kind of revolutionary feminist praxis. right.

I could on and on about how much I hate when people say “trans men are treated as women” bc it’s very not true. But people will see the statement “trans men aren’t treated as women.” And assume it means “trans men are treated as men.” Instead of “trans men aren’t treated as their gender, they are treated as something other.”

reblogging with my own tags because i have so many trans drow thoughts now
#im on board any reason to trans a character #i was looking up drow names for a dnd character and thought 'wouldnt it be cool if bg3 used this' #nere could be neer meaning root or strong #dhourn could be dhaun meaning infested or plague #which interestingly is a gender neutral name #min and thara meaning lesser glyph/rune #dhourn says hes third born. third born sons are sacrificed unless one of the two older brothers died #OR. he could be ftm #being trans in drow society could have so many interesting implications. #was nym not allowed to transition into a 'higher' status? is dhourn 'allowed' because he transitioned into a 'lesser' status? #did dhourn leave his house because he ended up being a third born man who Wasnt sacrificed to lolth? #i have so many delicious trans drow thoughts. #you know #im not even sure if we're told dhourn is a man. we can tell him to respect us if we play as a drow woman #but i assume enby drow would have lesser status to a cis drow woman. #the implications are interesting.
Interesting little thing, Sorn and Nym Orlith's names can both be found in the "male" section of drow names from Dragon Magazine (Sorn meaning enchanted or spell, Nym meaning skeleton or skull, and possibly Orly-th meaning Guild of Challenges).
Sorn says they fled because male drow are treated like dogs. At first I figured it meant his sister went with him for a genuine care of her brother and twin (and perhaps still is the case) but I wonder if Nym is trans and transitioned after leaving the Underdark but kept her name.
