I saw K-pop Demon Hunters like everyone and their grandma, and not only was that movie fun as hell but i had like a shower realization that two of the biggest movies this summer have been films about specifically musicians with spiritual power and ancestral connections fighting against parasitic supernatural forces and I think that’s pretty fuckin cool

I’m so glad that this MASH take is the one that’s doing numbers. I straight up thought of this at like five in the morning listening to Tom Lehrer before my caffeine hit and just spontaneously thought “damn Hawkeye would love this” like Apollo himself smacked me with the dodgeball of inspiration.

Apologies to the Nevermore gang that have no clue what I’m talking about, but I’m so deep into MASHposting all I can talk about is Hawkeye Pierce, and I just realized that I might be deeply attached to Prospero bc he gives me real big MASH energy. Admittedly Prospero is more of an introvert and would probably be much more like Winchester or maybe Houlihan in terms of following rules, but I can see him having the same fierce dedication as Hawkeye. Prospero strikes me as perhaps as quieter than Hawkeye, but having that same idealism and innate desire to help. Take Prospero and put him into the 4077 and I have a feeling that boy would fit right in as either the quiet straight man or the younger brother to 95% of the hijinks that the 4077 get up to.

Part 2 of Comrades in Arms is also funny, but like dang it honestly is such a good episode exploring Margaret. Like one night together and Margaret acts infatuated with Hawkeye and it’s just like kinda uncomfortable bc… like that’s not their dynamic. Hawkeye and Margaret have had soft moments, but they don’t have the same worldview, and she’s always been very vocal in calling out Hawkeye when she thinks he’s on some bullshit. Their dynamic is like mutual sparring, trading verbal blows but able to work together when shit really hits the fan.

Margaret going straight to being passionately romantic with Hawkeye while trying to ‘fix’ him to me is something that makes sense with her character. Margaret is a military woman, someone who’s made it clear she’s dedicated to her career, but she clearly also wants the whole family-white-picket fence dream that was probably ingrained in her because of the era she grew up in. Every relationship she’s in Margaret jumps in fully and completely and almost blindly because to me she seems to desperately crave something that affirms her femininity by allowing her to be the wife or girlfriend of a masculine man, a role that means ‘fixing’ her man and acting like she liked them the entire time (even when we know in the case of Hawkeye that the two did not always get along)

Hawkeye is able to cut through bc he’s the first guy she’s been able to be honest with her and say ‘look we had a thing, but long term romance isn’t gonna work. I like us better as friends.’ It’s this sweet moment of honesty and connection between the two that allows them to build an even stronger friendship when it could have easily blown up. They want to keep this precious little spark of friendship alive, so they commit to talking it out and they come out the other side even closer because of it

Look I’m not a Hawkihan shipper but you cannot deny the fact that Comrades in Arms is fucking hysterical.

Like Margaret found out that her husband had been cheating on her with another woman and feels like no romance towards her and Hawkeye is there to comfort her, telling her she’s allowed to lose it. We’re watching them connect in this genuine way in spite of the dire circumstances, which is wonderful

It keeps cutting back to the 4077 where everyone is trying to find out what happened to Hawkeye and Margaret, only to be derailed by Winchester hanging up after being mistaken for Klinger’s hot stocking action hotline. And when the shelling starts and BJ ‘I’m definitely not in this weird deeply intimate-queerplatonic love with my bestie’ Hunnicutt is about to mcfrickin loose it bc oh my god his anchor in this goddamn war might be dead and father is praying like a fiend
