Blog#14 - Project Management Report: GUI and Manuscript Checking
In the last third week of May and the upcoming weeks, the Partial Defense is approaching, and we’re here to review our manuscript, Medical Ticketing with Graphical User Interface (GUI), and its current progress in front of our Instructor, with assistance from Ma’am Clandestine and Sir Darwin, who offers a few comments along the way.
Throughout the process of reviewing our manuscript, we share our insights and thoughts about it. We receive feedback from them, pinpointing where we need to improve and make changes to our system and documentation. We showcase our partial GUI, allowing us to explain the properties, navigation, and objectives of its system functions. Defending our manuscript requires us to provide clear justifications for our research, scope, and technical choices.
Moreover, we’re grateful for gaining an insightful and engaging perspective on how to refine our manuscript, providing us with a clear path to stay grounded and continue our progress toward the upcoming partial defense.

Blog#13 - Oral Recitation: System Architecture, User Interface Design, and Project Management (Part II)
This week, we had our second installment of the Oral Recitation covering Modules 10 to 12. We discussed the topics of System Architecture, User Interface Design, and Project Management. Similar to last week's activity, the format for the oral recitation involved a wheel of modules (roulette), where the wheel randomly stops to show which various modules we need to answer. This format keeps us on edge in our chairs, wondering who will answer first XD. It was fun and engaging to learn alongside my classmates, and plus it’s open notes.
In Module 10: System Architecture - it converts a system’s logical design into a physical framework that includes hardware, software, network support, processing methods, and security measures.
Module 11: User Interface Design - encompasses all elements that facilitate interaction between users and a computer system, including hardware, software, and design principles aimed at creating a seamless, user-friendly experience that meets user needs and enhances communication.
Module 12: Project Management - involves planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling system development to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards, while balancing the interdependent variables of scope, cost, and time.
At the end of the activity, I didn’t get a high score because I arrived late to school and was also not feeling well due to menstruation, which made it hard for me to get there early because of the pain. However, I still had the opportunity to answer some questions and share waves of laughter with my classmates while gaining an understanding of the technical concepts of project management. Soon, as this project comes together, we’re stepping closer to the light!

Blog#12 - Medical Ticketing Recording Analysis
For the last week of April, I will continue my interview analysis on how medical and traditional ticketing work in Xavier Maria Reyna. And these are my findings from the recordings:
The medical ticket process begins with a doctor issuing a medication order to the nurse, who transcribes it into a medication index, which differs from the color-coded system used in government hospitals. Xavier Maria Reyna Hospital uses this index for improved visibility of medications, scheduling them in an 8-hour cycle (blue for 6 am to 2 pm, black for 2 pm to 10 pm, and red for 10 pm to 6 am), with special orders marked in red.
If a medication ticket is lost, verifying prescriptions becomes more complicated. Once entered into the system, the pharmacy prepares the medications, and the nurse retrieves them according to the shift schedule, requiring a 24-hour notice if unavailable. The entire process is time-sensitive and adapts based on patient needs to ensure correct dosages are administered.
In conclusion, this process prioritizes accuracy and visibility through a medication index rather than a color-coded system. This structured approach ensures the timely preparation and administration of medications while addressing patient needs effectively. However, the process relies heavily on accurate documentation or traditional methods, as any lapses can complicate patient care.

Blog#11 - Oral Recitation Time
For this weekly blog, we had an oral recitation about the Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD), Database Normalization, and Data Dictionary. The twist is that we were allowed to use our notes, and those who raised their hands could answer questions first from the module roulette. Throughout the oral recitation, we received various questions from Modules 7, 8, and 9.
In Module 7, the Entity Relationship Diagram, or ERD, is a structural diagram used in database design to visualize major business objects, known as entities, and the relationships among them. This diagram employs different symbols and connectors to represent these elements and their interconnections within the system.
In Module 8, Database Normalization is a technique for organizing data in the database by systematically decomposing tables to eliminate redundancy and undesirable anomalies such as insertion, update, and deletion anomalies. The primary goals of normalization are to eliminate unnecessary data and ensure that data dependencies are logically structured. Lastly, in Module 9, the Data Dictionary is a textual description of data objects and their interrelationships, serving as a repository for metadata about data within a database or application. It also helps confirm data requirements and assists database developers in creating and maintaining systems.
Thus, these modules offer key tools for effective database management, including ERD for visualizing entities and relationships, normalization to eliminate data redundancy, and a Data Dictionary for documenting data objects. These concepts enhance the clarity and integrity of this module.
That would be all! And see you in the next blog!

Blog#10 - Holy Week and Family Bonding
During the last third week of April, we continued our assigned tasks on the manuscript and assignment/seatwork from other subjects before the Holy Week started from April 17 to 20.
This mini break is a well-deserved rest for students to bond with family and remind the importance of Father God who died for our sins. He always forgives and accepts us for who we are, despite everything we have sinfully done.
Hence, He will, no matter what, remind you that in the toughest times, seek His presence for He will be by your side and guide you through the toughest mountains and steepest slopes—moreover, having a quality family bonding by catching up with them and going to places to have fun, replenish, and sink in the relaxation of nature.
Free stress because going back to school/work. Nevertheless, it's worthwhile to have this short moment in life.
That's all, and see you in the next blog!

Blog#9 - Continue the Progress
After we're done creating the use case diagram design, we continue with the remaining contents of the manuscript. While we're at it, I continue my part on analyzing and transferring the first interview's answer through an audio record. Upon thorough listening, the nurse we interviewed in Xavier Maria Reyna has a lot of interesting and well-elaborated explanations about her thoughts about Medical Ticketing, especially manual and digital ticketing.
In such, healthcare facilities have specific policies and protocols for handling medication tickets, which include transcribing doctors’ orders and documenting administration, while medications are categorized based on type, dosage, and patient demographics to streamline distribution and management.
Moreover, this categorization aids in organizing medications for efficient dispensing and ensures compliance with protocols such as filling out forms for specific treatments like antibiotics, thus enhancing patient safety and accountability for healthcare providers. Thus, incorporating these thoughts, it provided a more comprehensive view of the complexities involving medication ticketing and its implications for healthcare practices.
That would be all, and see you on the next blog!

Blog#8 - Creating Use Case Diagram
In today's activity, our instructor instructed us to create a Case Diagram Design using Lucidchart. An online free site where you can create flowcharts and diagrams effectively and accessible to anyone. You can collaborate with your colleagues and groupmates in this work.
Furthermore, making this diagram showcases the outline of the system processes and its user interaction from our manuscript. With this activity, it's our first time using this platform to create a case diagram design, allowing us to share our thoughts, making some adjustments, and opinions ensuring the design is well-structured to the study. Moreover, it helps us understand how to use and apply the visual concept which benefitted for research purposes.

Blog#7 - Brainstorming for the Research Project
After the third week of the midterm exam for the CEA department, we decided to focus on the remaining activities and assignments before midterm grading ended. Next week, we planned to continue working on the remaining parts of the manuscript and concentrate on the assigned tasks.
Furthermore, this week is somewhat slow after the midterm exams, but don't underestimate the chaos beneath the surface. You never know when the bomb might drop in its targeted area. Anyway, still surviving another semester, we’re heading into the Semi-Finals.
Continue striving for success despite everything going downhill, but always stand your ground. Stay positive and take care of yourself no matter what! See you in the next blog ;)

Blog#6 - First Midterm Quiz!
After the Faculty Evaluation Orientation and continuing our other activities, the next day we had our first midterm quiz following the midterm exam. It was a bit nerve-wracking because I didn’t know what type of quiz we would face, even though I had already studied the provided module.
Despite going through a flight of stairs, I was able to make it to the 7th floor because the elevator door didn’t open on the ground floor. Although after taking the quiz, I didn’t expect the outcome to be. . . simple. (I honestly wasn’t expecting that XD). But hey! What I studied did make it out of the quiz anyway. The given topics are about Activity Diagram and Data Flow Diagram.

Blog#5 - Faculty Evaluation Orientation
An online orientation via Zoom was held on March 6 for students to learn about the upcoming Faculty Evaluation. Additionally, it aimed to help students understand the new changes to the updated USTEP site and its functions, provide instructions on how to evaluate using the USTEP for those who are new students in USTP. Moreover, it is important to provide crucial feedback on the instructors' teaching throughout the first and second semesters, allowing students to express their opinions by assessing the instructors' effective teaching and course delivery improvements.
By doing so, it creates a productive learning environment and engages everyone in benefiting both students and instructors. Without this evaluation, faculty might not realize that some students have ill intentions or provide positive feedback despite harsh remarks in between. Thus, it helps them understand the needs to improve their teaching delivery to their students.
Despite the business, we prioritize other subject assignments, but that won't stop us from achieving something great for our future, including my future. With this, we continue to strive and find ways to accommodate everything in one swift move. STAY POSITIVE :))!

Blog#4 - Our Manuscript
From the first week of March, we continue gathering RRL (Review of Related Literature) to further conduct our topic about Computize Medical Ticketing by understanding its connection to other related topics that have already been studied. Besides that, we have already given the manuscript to our instructor after the class ended.
However, last few weeks, I still haven’t transferred all the first interviewer’s answers from the recorded audio. Despite the time given to me, I should have been done transferring those days but got bombarded with other subjects that I couldn’t ignore. But I’ll finish this recorded audio after the hellest week. Joke just this week :) Just keep going until we achieve greatness.

Blog#3 - Continuation of the Research Project
In the previous activity, we interviewed for our research to gain insights into the differences between digital and manual ticketing systems. It is understood that digital ticketing can make inputting patients' medical records efficient, accessible, and accurate. However, it may present some challenges for nurses who are not accustomed to programming.  Hence, they’re used to manual ticketing system as a writing method.
Furthermore, knowing the information we gained from the interview, some healthcare facilities still rely on manual ticketing systems for example Xavier Maria Reyna, this method is already taught in their school and it has been used seen then. Thus, it reinforces the need to accommodate an easy alternative method that benefits the innovation in medical ticketing. Recognizing the lack of digital systems that lead to a lack of precision on patient records, prolonging of time, and disorganization. Therefore, it’s important to be aware of the perspective of professional nurses, which could lead this project to be impactful for them and for us students to understand the problem of the research study.
Moreover, we continued to gather research articles, existing studies from recent frameworks, and references to the survey study. The most crucial part of the study is the RRL (Review of Related Literature), which is the backbone of the entire research component. Getting insights from these references benefits this project by establishing the relevance of the study and synthesizing the purpose of the existing topics.
Therefore, we still have a long way to go, and that’s all for the blog! see you on the next blog!

Blog#2 - 1st Interview
In the last third week of February, my groupmates and I planned to conduct interviews for our research study on medical ticketing. We aimed to gain insights from a professional nurse who experiences a computerized version of medical ticketing. Soon, the days passed, and on February 19, 2025 (Wednesday), we finally conducted our first interview at Maria Reyna - Xavier University Hospital. The nurse we interviewed, Ms. Frances Pauline Empleo, explained the differences between manual ticketing and digital ticketing, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of both processes, which the interviewer said that digital ticketing is more efficient and accurate for finding the patient’s recording although it might be difficult for other nurses to adjust the usage of technology to know the precision and its function especially you have to program it. While manual ticketing is based on writing but is more time-consuming and it takes a lot of effort to check manually to know the precise records. This included recording the patient’s profile, preparing medication, issuing prescriptions, collecting blood samples, and scheduling medication intake.
Furthermore, throughout the interview with the nurse, I gained a lot of valuable information from her thoughts and opinions regarding our research which benefitted the advanced technology today. With this, we will forgo our research and continue to seek pieces of advice from professionals.

Blog#1 - The Beginning
It started with one idea and led to multiple proposals, but our group struggled to decide which one to choose for our final topic proposal. The first idea was MerchantSphere, the second was Medical Ticketing, and the last was Digital Tourist Pass. All three proposals are excellent, but only one stood out. After submitting the proposals to our instructor, he selected Medical Ticketing among from the three.
Hence, this proposal will benefit from using the current technologies created to help ease the transition from manual medication ticketing systems to computerized systems in the healthcare industry and handle the problems associated with them. These technologies seek to overcome the primary obstacles to adoption while enhancing accuracy, efficiency, and dependability.
