short story #1- "confessions in the russian base"

"You know, you're making everything seem like the goddamn end of the world," Shoyo says, flattening his hair and deepening his voice to imitate the grouchy officer sitting right next to him.

Kageyama groans. It's been a while since Tsukishima's down that vent and here he is, arguing with an idiot who ditched him on a date.

He straightens his back for a minute, one arm on the large rifle he's carrying, eyes darting from Shoyo to the floor in the secret base.

"You know, despite the fighting and what's currently going on- we don't make a bad team," Kageyama says, looking at Shoyo for a split few seconds before looking at the floor again.

Shoyo clicks his tongue, walking to a set of stairs that's nearby and sitting on them. He speaks, a small smile forming at the corners of his lips, "I mean we made it this far right?"

"We really did." Kageyama smiles as he says this, walking toward the set of stairs where Shoyo is currently sitting.

"Y'know- I think Detective Hinata has a nice ring to it." Shoyo says this- watching as Kageyama walks over, one arm leaning on the stair railing- a serious expression on his face.

"You can't be a detective in a town where you don't live anymore," he says- navy blue eyes looking at Shoyo's brown ones.

"We'll see how it goes," Shoyo says, looking at the floor now.

"How it goes- how what goes?" Kageyama can't help but look at Shoyo with a mix of confusion and something else on his blue eyes.

"If we make it out here- we should celebrate," Shoyo says, looking at Kageyama.

"I mean- yes we do," Kageyama says, as he goes to sit by Shoyo, navy blue eyes close in proximity.

Kageyama looks away, but Shoyo can still see his face.

He says,"I think that Sakanoshita's is a good place-", grinning as Kageyama's navy blue eyes stare at him with shock- then hesitation.

Shoyo's cockiness is clearly visible as he asks, "Friday at 9?"

Kageyama is beyond shock now. His blue eyes widening, he stammers- "I can't do it that late; Nin watches anime at 10, and she hates it if I'm late."

"Hm- how about 6 then?" Shoyo speaks as he looks at Kageyama, who is probably just either on cloud nine, extremely confused, or both.

Now Kageyama is absolutely confused. The same ginger-haired idiot who stood him up for a date is now asking him for another date.

"So Sakanoshita's- Friday at 6- and I'm meeting you there right?"

"Hell no- idiot you're picking me up," Shoyo says, his ginger hair more clear in the light.

Kageyama inhales sharply- shaking his head two times before turning to look at Shoyo. "Just to be clear here Hinata, we're talking about an actual date here-"

"Yeah Kage? Shut up or I'm changing my mind."

Kageyama stays quiet, because the wall right next to him looks nice.

The two then sit in silence as they wait for Tsukishima to give them the signal, one occasionally gazing at the other for too long, both idiots slightly red in the face.
