Getting more comfortable and therefore faster at @stanbicknell 's foot technique. Check him out if you have not already, he's a lot farther along with it than I am! His foot technique is kinda similar to what I'm already using but he repeats the motion, thus creating something resembling Moeller technique, but with your feet! Thanks to Stan for the awesome inspiration. This creates a left handed Inverted Paradiddle that I'm moving between the Snare, Hi Hats and Floor Tom. Something I've been working on recently in the practice room. A few months ago, I discovered a great drummer - @stanbicknell. Check him out if you have not already! Anyway, his foot technique is quite similar to what I'm already using but he repeats the motion, thus creating something resembling Moeller technique, but with your feet! I have to wonder why I hadn't already thought of this, as it seems so obvious now. But, as my teacher once said, "sometimes you need to see someone else do something to realise that it's possible". So huge thanks to Stan for the awesome inspiration. Need to work on my accuracy a bit but I can already tell that I'm gonna hurt people with this technique once I get a bit more comfortable with the motion! Thought I'd see how well this 14" @bigfatsnaredrum records and I ended up channelling my inner Clyde Stubblefield (James Brown's drummer and a huge influence of mine who sadly passed away recently). I was surprised how much it bought the pitch of my snare down as you'll notice I usually prefer high tunings for my main snare. I think I'd probably need to tune to a more medium pitch to really get that fat 70's sound. It doesn't really get in the way of the response of the drum at all and felt like playing my regular high tuned snare, but with a deeper, more controlled pitch and sustain. Can't wait to try it on a gig! Been wanting to try these @drumtacs for a while now as Moongel always feels like I'm handling someone else's boogers haha! They're kinda hard to find here in the UK, ended up importing them from America which was slightly more expensive. They seem like a much more scientific solution to drum dampening, plus I should be able to leave them on in the cases without them melting. I'll let you know how I get on with them. #drums #drumdampening #drumtacs
