Pipi The Barn Owl (Female, b. July, 2020, located in the Czech Republic). Pipi has a gene mutation called Melanism that is 100,000 to one and is an undue development of dark-colored pigment in the skin or its appendages and is the opposite of albinism.

I decided to take a few more passes on my rainbow high doll’s design. The first image shows my two favorite designs from the second image (but cleaned up a bit- I adjusted the colors so that they would pop more).

I took a lot of inspiration from the 3 images I show below (the middle one is from Lisa Folawiyo, a Nigerian fashion designer- the other’s locations are shown in the images). I wound up really liking the middle model’s hairstyle so I stole it, haha.

I wanted to take heavy inspiration from current fashion trends from Nigeria- what do you guys think- are they too close in design to the images?

Anyways, I’m thinking I’m going to call her Melina- the name was recommended to me from an anon and I thought it fitted her pretty well.

Decided to switch gears for a bit and design a rainbow high doll. I just got Victoria and got really inspired to try designing my own doll.

I noticed that there are not a lot of yellow dolls or dolls with natural Afro hair styles so I wanted to design around those two things. I settled on Honey Yellow as the color. Eventually I started looking into Nigerian fashion trends from 2022, and learned a bit about how Ankara is used and more about fashion in general. I’m trying to figure out an Ankara print that would work well for this doll.

But yeah, I would be curious to know what your guys input on this design is (especially if you know a bit about Nigerian or black American fashion). I’m still learning so some things about this beta design are probably not accurate yet, haha.

dear non-spanish speakers writing spiderverse fanfiction (or anything with spanglish),

in spanglish you don’t switch by word, you switch by phrase.

it’s not:

“[first part of the sentence in english], [second part of the sentence in english], mi amor.”

“[full english sentence], querida.”

it’s:

“[first part of the sentence in english], [segunda parte de la frase en español], mi amor.”

also miles is boricua, miguel is mexican. they have two different accents and use different vocabulary for certain words.

also miles is “nyourican” - a puerto rican native to new york - while his mom is directly from the island, so there are differences there, too, because his spanish is more influence by new york english.

in spanish most words are gendered, so most feminine words end in a and masculine/gender neutral words end in o. adding ito/ita makes something cuter, smaller and more affectionate.

spanish nicknames that aren’t “mi amor”

“querido/a” - darling

“cariño” - dear (always masculine regardless, of who its being said to)

“mi princesa/príncipe” - my prince/princess

“mi rey/reina” - my king/queen

“papí/mamí” - can be used in any way; romantic, sexual, familial for one’s parent or child, or just platonically

“tesoro” - treasure

also spanish is a language that uses adjectives as terms of affection both cute ones and ones that might sound insensitive in english

gordo (fat), flaco (skinny), negro (black), blanco (white), linda (pretty), bella (beautiful), morena (brown skin), etc.

and like most languages that are not english, spanish has multiple ways of saying i love you.

“te amo” - romantic

“te quiero” - familial, platonic (although there’s nothing wrong with using it romantically)

 and, of course, they can vary regionally too.

please use this because i have read a lot of really well written things that take me out of it because the use of spanglish is terrible. don’t just go on your presumptions that spanish/spanglish works in the same way that english does.
