@njeyeandear would like to welcome Dr. Tal Kazam. Dr. Kazam is a board certified comprehensive ophthalmologist providing a wide spectrum of eye care. She completed her medical education at Weill Cornell Medical College in 2005, where she was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. She then went on to complete her ophthalmology residency at the renowned New York University and Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital. Before joining NJ Eye and Ear, Dr. Kazam was in private practice in New York City for 9 years. Dr. Kazam is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. We communicate regularly with patients throughout the process and have established relationships with insurances, so the program often comes at no cost to you! Specialty Contact Lenses: Certain types of contact lenses require a more extensive fitting process and care regimen. These contact lenses are referred to as specialty lenses. Some of the conditions that can be treated with specialty lenses are: Keratoconus – A condition in which the cornea, the clear outer layer of your eye, begins to thin out and change shape. This condition affects the vision and can be uncomfortable. Progression of this condition is gradual but steady. Vision correction with contact lenses may be required. Irregular Astigmatism – A condition in which the abnormal shape of the cornea detrimentally affects vision and advanced contact lenses are often required to correct vision to an ideal degree. Aphakia – the absence of the lens (an ocular structure responsible for focusing light onto the retina) in the ocular anatomy.
