    Fortunate for all of Thedas, her worship was usually nearby in case anybody required motivational or physical support. Riley had just walked out of the meeting room, having stayed there for an extended time after the advisors took their leave because she liked to look at the maps.

“Josephine?” Riley called out upon entering the room and noticing the ambassador in a state of wee distress.

    Now we’re getting to it! It’s looking good. Riley just had the door held for her by Hawke of all people! Surely this was at least worth mentioning in an argument with someone; should the topic be about personal achievements.  

     She paused. Riley was always one to mention her siblings/family members then have the subject quickly changed. She hadn’t ever been asked something like this since joining the Inquisition. 

    “My sister?” If she had some sort of approval rating, it would be at least 5+. “She’s alright, thank the Maker! I heard about her recently after being made Inquisitor. “ 

“And if anyone does, we’ll blame it on Skyhold’s friendly spirit.” Hawke held the door open with her foot, gesturing for the Inquisitor to take lead. 

Surprisingly, a part of her did care.  Family mattered to Hawke.  Through trying times, family was there to show their support, to scold failures. With family, they showed their good side and darker side, some days were spent loving them unconditionally while others…not so much but at the end of the day, through all the ups and downs, everyone accepted each other - that’s what it meant to have a family.  

“I can only imagine how it must have felt to…. –where is she now? Your sister.”

   Oh, but she could not contain it! Riley laughed at that remark.

   “Suspicious? What traumatic childhood incident caused you to mark all cats as ‘suspicious’? Are you worried they’ll run off with your family the second you look away? Or perhaps you are convinced that their claws can extend up to a foot long, and act like ten little daggers at once? Paw-sitively terrifying!”

“Which is why a pet is not practical when we have so much work at hand. There are plenty of people, children or others who work here, and stay here to take care of your feline. I… I do not particularly like cats either. They are… suspicious.”
