Good Gatekeeper

☾↣    “ sir ferdinand!” the gatekeeper started, entirely shocked at the extremely kind gesture. “of course! i’d love to come, i…i’m honored you’d invite me to have tea with you!” he looked at the letter from ferdinand, still in awe.

       “surely i can break away for a few minutes for tea! i’ll have someone cover for me, don’t you worry! wherever, whenever, i’m there, sir!” delighted beyond words to be apart of things, he could hardly believe it. “i…i’ve never been to a tea party, i’m afraid i don’t know the proper etiquette! should i wear my armor? should i not wear it? do i bring anything with me…?” he asked, genuinely wanting to make it the best it could be.

“Really? Well, feel free to come in whatever you wish, whether it be casual clothes or your cathedral best, as long as you come and enjoy yourself that’s fine. You do such good work, and when I’m prime minister, I want everyone like you to feel like you can approach nobles without titles, but as friends or comrades.”

He held his hand out with a soft smile, trying to dispose of any worries the man might have. He wanted to have the man have a nice day just as any noble would be able to.

Ferdinand reached into his coat and pulled out a pink letter. The writing was rather clean, but slightly sloppy, clearly having been re-written a couple times.

There was something oddly satisfactory at watching someone get knocked off of their high horse. Though Leonie was part of the Golden Deer house, she’d chosen to linger by the training hall while the Black Eagle house trained, simply to watch and wait until the ground were clear so she could get in some spear training, alone.

She didn’t expect a front row seat to watching Ferdinand get thoroughly trounced by Edelgard. “That looked like it hurt, do you think you can stand up?” She offered her hand to him, while the students all began to leave the training hall.

He took the hand with a soft sigh, trying not to let his embarrassment show through him. He got up with Leonie’s help and dusted himself off with a grunt, he picked up his training lance and cleaned it off, annoyed slightly at what had happened.

“I appreciate your help Leonie, though I am curious to why you’re down here since you’re in a different house.” He cracked his neck and tried to stretch his arm before flinching and grabbing his shoulder. “Goddess that smarts!”
