Ardyn and the stelae beneath Lucis

Spoilers for Royal Edition

The stelae scattered in the depths of the Lucis teach us more about the actions of the ancient Kings and Oracles. We discover that the Oracles were able to create magic “cages” at the cost of their own lives to lock away powerful daemons that can’t be defeated. (stele found at the sanctuary of Balouve mine’s depths)

It is very likely that the very first Oracle cage was used to enclose Ardyn somewhere. We know he has been imprisoned (Talcott Chap.14), which is logical considering his immeasurable powers. So people have certainly appealed to the Oracle to contain him, thus explaining Ardyn’s hatred for the Nox Fleurets. (About Ardyn hate for Nox Fleurets)

Many believe Ardyn was imprisoned in Angelgard. I thought about it too, but before that I believed that Ardyn had been locked up in an ancient place, a remnant of Solheim able to restrain him such as Costlemark, Steyliff but also Taelpar where Gilgamesh is or even Pitioss that can be a magical prison.

It is possible Ardyn was also locked in the depths of Lucis and was awakened by inquisitive visitors in search of technologies from the past.

In fact, the description of Steyliff Woods in the archives as well as the stelae inside the place tell us that expeditions took place to learn more about Solheim and use its knowledge to fight against today’s threats.

A similar thing happened in Costlemark where an expedition was looking for knowledge from the past but instead only “opened a cage that contained a dangerous prisoner” (Ingwen sanctuary), awaking a “threat that is several millennia old” (Encefain sanctuary). If the stelae usually refer to the boss locked at the end of the dungeon, this description may also evoke Ardyn.

Because we have no idea how Ardyn reappeared into this world. This might be the answer.

So I think Ardyn was jailed in an “Oracle cage” 2000 years ago in a place similar to Solheim’s vestiges, and that 34 years before the events of FFXV inquisitive people looking for past knowledge to fight daemons (Lucis) or improve their technology (Niflheim) accidentally woke up Ardyn from his eternal sleep, leading to the story we know and to the Chosen King’s advent.

He was about 99% sure he had said that in his head. He admittedly been staring, maybe longer than what would be considered-- friendly. More like, invading Prompto's personal space with his eyes and thoughts.

Which he should DEFINITELY not be doing.

He blinked; once, twice, three times- before it finally clicked in the prince's head about what Prompto was actually saying.

He shook his head rapidly, looking down and away from the omega. For Prompto's to be hidden from Noctis' gaze or for Noctis to hide his red cheeks, who knew?

"No, it's just.. I'm not use to you smelling so.." Delicious? Irresistible? ".. different."

Finally, Noct looked back towards the blond, "Didn't mean it, swear. It's just a stupid alpha thing."

     Hearing something like that from Noct so suddenly almost made Prompto drop his camera. This was why he’d pretended to be a beta for so long. Now that he wasn’t taking suppressants or using beta pheromones, he could see the differences in the way his friends treated him. Ignis was the most subtle of the three, doing his best to keep things as they had been before. But Noct and Gladio were a different story. 

     “You know you just said that out loud, right?” Prompto sighed, clutching his camera close to keep it safe. “Noct… if my scent’s really messing with your head that much, I can go back to using the beta pheromones. You’re not the same and it’s… it’s freaking me out, man.’

List of Vocal Sounds for Smut

I present to you a - probably quite incomplete, I’m sure I’m missing a lot of speech sounds - reference list and a bit of a guideline for the different ways one can describe the sounds your characters make whilst writing smut. I’ll definitely be referring to it, because I sometimes get stuck on exactly how to describe a particular noise. (aka, “he can’t groan again, he just groaned last paragraph”)

Sounds (noun, both independently and describing speech): breath/breathe, gasp, moan, groan, pant, whimper, whine, shout, yelp, hiss, grunt, cry, scream, shriek, sob, growl, curse, sound, sigh, hum, noise, squeak, snarl, howl, roar, mewl, wail, choke, keen, purr

Sounds (noun, describing speech): rasp, husk, drawl, plea, murmur, whisper, beg

Descriptors (adjective): loud, hushed, quiet, low, high, high-pitched, little, tiny, soft, deep, unrestrained, restrained, strained, breathy, rough, sudden, short, drawn-out, sharp, harsh, hard, thick, smooth, thin, heavy, impassioned, insistent, hungry, passionate, repeated, filthy, debauched, sweet, slow, deliberate, guttural, languid, surprised, husky, distracted, happy, pleased, satisfied, wordless, cut-off, bitten-off, contented, hoarse, extended, long, depraved, aching, choked, strangled, broken, helpless, shuddering, shaky, trembling, urgent, needy, desperate, wanton, shattered, pained, eager

Combine a descriptor and a sound for best effect - for example, “needy moan,” “pleased hum,” or “sudden scream.” You can even use two: “low, rough grunt,” “sweet little cry,” “desperate, filthy noise,” as long as you don’t repeat a word that means the same thing, unless you really want to emphasize it. Avoiding repetition is pretty key here. You don’t usually want to say “hushed, quiet gasp” except on rare occasions when it’s very important how soft the sound was.

Use your own common sense, as well; some sounds and descriptors don’t generally work well together. “Deliberate shriek” probably wouldn’t work well, and neither would “languid grunt,” but again, this is all very situational - play around! Have fun.

Feel free to add to my lists, use for your reference or pass them around. It would be fun to see a randomized generator made, too, I’m just too lazy to do it myself. ;)

Can we just talk about attention to details in the motions of Ignis’s body language??

When he realized that Noctis now knows of his fate… he just leans forward with this sort of defeat. There’s a tear sliding down his cheek. His body language is literally saying “he knows… and the gods know I can’t stop it now”.

There’s a sadness to him that you can only read through his body language because he never says any of it out loud.

And here you can visibly see him clench his jaw. His eyebrows pinch together the slightest bit. And his (somewhat) visible eye his filling with tears he doesn’t want to shed.

I really enjoy the depth of detail they put into the little bits of body language. Especially in a character like Ignis, who sacrificed so much, but never said a word of it to anyone. (I’m not saying they didn’t do this for other characters but I especially enjoy it for Ignis)
