So I finished Mourning Star and I absolutely loved it! Ragnar's death was incredibly unexpected since I thought he would grow into a larger role after the rising BUT I think PB pulled it off very well. Now I'm starting Iron Gold and I really like how PB expanded the scope to build on how everyone's adjusting to the rising especially Lyria. I'm only 6 chapters in but I really like the new direction the book is going
