Robin had practically been shaking the entire way to the hotel room, even while they were checking in at the front desk – not because she was nervous, but because she was just so EXCITED.  Prom had came and went in a matter of hours, but what she was really looking forward to was spending the night with Noel after, just the two of them. As soon as the hotel room door closed behind them, Robin smiled as she felt Noel’s arms around her, leaning back into his strong frame.  He HAD told her more than enough how good she looked tonight, but each time made her heart race.  “Thank you,”  she said softly, breaking out of his arms so she could twirl herself around, arms wrapping around his neck immediately.  She wasn’t ready to let go of him just yet… nor did she need to.  “Room service sounds great,”  Robin nodded, because although they both knew what they were planning tonight, she didn’t want to rush into anything.  She flushed at his words, leaning up to press a small kiss to his lips. The heels she was wearing needed to come off as soon as possible, but at least it made kissing Noel a little easier, giving her a few more inches to stand on.  “I can’t believe we’re here,”  she mumbled against his lips, pulling him back to give him an excited grin.
“We made it, baby,” Noel mirrored her grin, his eyes crinkling in the corners as he gave her the fondest of looks; even through all the typical high-school drama, and all the teasing from their friends, they’d made it. Still grinning, Noel suddenly bent over, placing his arm under her knees, before he lifted Robin into the air. “Chocolate and strawberries it is then!” Noel exclaimed, as he carried her bridal style towards the bed. Gently throwing Robin down upon it, he then knelt down to remove her heels. They’d danced hard all throughout the night; it was nice that they could finally relax.
Standing up, Noel then grabbed the phone on the bed side table, and calling reception he ordered the chocolate fondue and a large banana sundae from the dessert menu. “Shouldn’t be long,” Noel smiled, putting the phone down. “In the meantime, how I about I give you a foot rub?” Removing his shoes, Noel plopped down onto the edge of the bed and pulled Robin’s feet onto his thighs. “You know, you were something else, out there on the dance floor. I should take you out dancing more often,” he teased, as his hands worked on massaging her feet.

She needed him. She needed him in a way she had never needed anything. She needed his hands on her body, his lips on her mouth.

“Oh?”  Just him mentioning her book made her heart pound. She had wanted him to see her book, of course; before arriving back to Elmerton, one of the many thoughts that would keep her up in the middle of the night was predicting the look on Noel’s face when he first saw her book in a store, or heard about it through somebody else. And if he had read it, too… But from his words, it was safe to assume he hadn’t, which she wasn’t sure how she felt about that. She had hoped he’d read it while she was writing it, but in hindsight it felt too personal, like bad fanfiction for their family with a fairytale ending he likely had no interest in.
Tumblr media
When his fingers wiped above her lip, for a moment there Robin could swore she felt the old spark between them, their eyes meeting and her heartbeat rising like she was a teenage girl, and he was the boy who had climbed through her window just to fall asleep with her. But then the oven dinged and he got up, and they were back in reality.   “Thanks,”  she mumbled, making room on the table for Noel to bring the pizza down, then helping serve Jane and Noel before herself. She shook her head at his question, finishing the bite of her pizza before responding.  “I’m renting a condo from an old family friend, down on the shore. It’s only temporary, though.  I’m slowly in the process of looking for a full time place for myself.”  One with at least two bedrooms, so Jane could have her own space when she comes to visit.  “So if you know of anyone in the neighborhood getting ready to put their house up for sale, let me know.”
“That sounds promising,” Noel said vaguely, taking a bite out of the pizza. Noel was unsure how he felt about the idea that Robin was moving back into town. He never thought it would become an actual reality. On one hand, it meant that Jane would have her mother in her life most likely for good, but on the other, it meant he too would have her back in his life, whether he wanted it or not. When prior to her reappearance, he’d only just gotten used to the idea that he may never see her again, except for on the inside of book covers, where the author’s portrait lay.
“Why doesn’t Mom live with us, Dad? Jane asked, speaking rather suddenly. For a moment, Noel had forgotten she was even there. Noel swallowed what was in his mouth, and he turned to Jane, giving her a warning look. “We don’t live together anymore, Jane.” He said, in a tone which implied that he wanted to shut this down as soon as possible.
“But you said she left, and now she’s back, so why not?” Jane whined, raising her voice as she grew increasingly frustrated with her father.
Noel blinked slowly, avoiding eye contact with Robin who sat across from them, as he took in a deep breath. He didn’t understand why Jane was bringing this up now. She’d been so good about the visits, saying goodbye to her mother every night, and they’d even discussed this matter before. Perhaps she was getting excited, seeing them all having dinner together... “That’s enough, Jane,” Noel said sternly, dropping his slice of pizza onto the plate in front of him. He then reached for his milkshake, taking a large sip while wishing it was something heavier.

Noel opened the door to the hotel room, letting Robin go in first, before he shut the door behind her. For the first time, in a long, long time, he was a feeling a little shy around his girlfriend. It was almost as if this was their first date. Taking in a deep breath, he approached from behind, reminding himself that there was no one else he wanted to share this night with. “Hey,” he grinned, wrapping his arms around her waist as he hugged her. “If I haven’t said it enough tonight, you look beautiful.” He craned his neck over her shoulder, so that he could gently press his forehead against hers. “So, what do you think? Should we order room service?” he whispered suggestively. “You know, I can’t believe I have you all to myself.” He wasn’t even thinking about what the night entailed, but for a brief moment, in this hotel room, he could imagine what it was like to live alone with his girlfriend. And it made him grin like an idiot.

robinkincaid‌:
“I could’ve told you that,”  she mused lightly, a small smile forming on her lips despite herself.  Her eyes didn’t stray from the dish in one hand, soapy sponge in another.  Her eyes flickered up only when the blender stopped running, her gaze following Jane as she took her first sip of the shake. Robin still remembered what it had been like when she had first had Jane, how much she internally struggled with the idea of motherhood, barely wanting to hold or change her own baby.  But seeing her now, nine years old and still growing… her heart twisted inside her chest.  She was absolutely beautiful, with Robin’s jet black hair and Noel’s warm eyes. Her eyes went back to the dishes, not wanting to get too emotional, not minutes before dinner.
She nodded at his question, though unsure if he was actually watching her.   “I’m working on something, yes.  It’s still the early stages though – ever since my last book, it’s been hard getting back on the horse. Big shoes to fill.”  Robin wasn’t sure how much he knew about her writing, but preferred thinking that he was in the dark on it all; just the idea of him reading her novel – one based so clearly on their own family – made her cheeks warm with embarrassment. “They’re almost done,”  she assured him when he told her to sit down, flashing him a wan smile from over her shoulder while she finished the last of them.  “Nah, the dough was from the bakery at the grocery store. I’m still not much of a chef.”  She never had been, always preferring baking over anything else. Though living on her own did make her pretty well acquainted with cooking for one.  Robin finished the last dish and dried her hands with a towel, taking a seat across from Noel, where her milkshake sat.  “Thank you.”  Another small smile, tentative in her own way, before taking a sip of the shake.  “I haven’t had a homemade milkshake in years,”  she admitted with a laugh, taking another sip. Not unless a mudslide counts.
Tumblr media
“Right, of course,” Noel nodded, aware of the success of her previous book. “I saw your book, on more than one occasion,” he replied, though he didn’t elaborate further. He decided not to mention the fact that he owned a copy, considering he was never able to sit himself down and read past the blurb on the back. It was a romance novel, unsurprisingly, and he was afraid of what he’d find inside. He was trying to move on with his life, without her. He couldn’t keep returning to her every night before he went to sleep. And so he shoved it in the back of his drawer, and hadn’t looked at it since.
She flashed him a smile from over his shoulder, and Noel swallowed, looking back down into the blender. He decided not to argue about the dishes. “Hm, me neither,” he responded with a light chuckle as she informed him that she still couldn’t cook. Maybe he should’ve spent more time in the kitchen with her, but he wasn’t going to bring up his regrets yet. There were too many.
Tumblr media
“You’ve got a little,” his finger briefly pointed at her mouth, before he switched suit, and wiped his own lip with his finger, trying to indicate where her milk-mustache was. Suddenly the oven went ding, and Noel tore his eyes away from her lips. “I’ll get it,” he murmured, swiftly getting up from his seat. Carrying the pizza back, Noel expressed his gratitude once more, giving praise to Jane for helping make the pizza, before he asked Robin another question. “Are you still living at the hotel?” He asked, raising a slice to his mouth.

Robin grinned as color stained his cheeks — she wanted to reach out and press her lips against them, but before she could do so he was rolling her over so her back made contact with her mattress, a small giggle escaping her. Her hands instinctively reached out for him, one resting against his cheek while the other brushed through his hair lightly. Now it was her turn to blush at his words, glancing away for a moment to let out a small laugh.  “Is that so?”  she mused, trying to ignore the way her body reacted to his words alone, and not just the rapid beating of her heart. Her friends all called her a prude, saying there was no way she could date a guy like Noel for so long without sleeping with him yet, but she never saw herself as one. But talking about her pleasure so boldly was something she wasn’t used to.  “You’re such a nerd.”  But the affection in her voice was impossible to miss, as was the softening of her eyes at what he said next.  “As long as it’s with you, I won’t have any regrets,” she said without missing a beat, because there wasn’t a single shred of doubt in her mind. The hand in her hair pulled his face to hers, kissing him fiercely, letting him see just how much she meant it.
Tumblr media
“Well, you’ve turned me into one,” he retorted, as she made fun of him for being a nerd; at least everyone else at school still considered him a jock. Her sudden kiss then stole his breath away, and Noel pressed Robin further into the mattress as their lips collided. His hand gripped her thigh, and Noel rolled onto his side, back onto the mattress. The hand gripping her thigh pulled Robin’s leg with him, holding her tightly around his waist, while their hips pressed together. It was no surprise to him that their make-out sessions only became more heated as time went on. In typical fashion, his friends on the high-school football team made fun of him for not having sex with his own girlfriend. That was until they realized how serious Noel was about Robin. They still didn’t understand it to this day, but he didn’t care, he didn’t need them to. “I should get you jealous more often,” Noel teased when they finally parted, mildly breathless at the same time.

Robin couldn’t help but smile at his touch, ducking her head a bit almost shyly.  After nearly two years of being together, Noel being both her boyfriend and best friend, it was insane how the way he looked at her and touched her still gave her butterflies. He had been her first boyfriend, and before then all she learned about romance was from novels – the honeymoon stage, having your first fight, how easily relationships could fizzle out with time. But sometimes she felt her feelings just got stronger for him with every day, and though Robin would never admit it (not wanting to be one of those foolish teens who thought their first love would be their last), she couldn’t see her future without seeing Noel by her side.  “Champagne and room service?”  she smirked back at him, hand reaching out to tuck behind his neck, playing with the hairs at the nape of it.  Pretty Woman was one of her favorite movies. “This sounds so fancy.  Are you going to tell me I can kiss you anywhere but your kids?” her voice lowered a bit, pressing a small kiss to the side of his neck.
Tumblr media
“Of course, nothing but the best for you, my dear,” Noel grinned, relaxing as her hand touched the back of his neck. He was corny. He knew he was. In fact, Robin and Noel didn’t have many interests in common; Noel wasn’t much of a reader, and he wasn’t much of a dreamer either, preferring to take things one day at a time, but one thing was for sure, they both loved romance. Whenever they were together, Noel felt like the luckiest guy in the world. “Well, that’s not quite what I meant,” he chuckled, feeling the heat rise to his cheeks at her words, and how she kissed the side of his neck. Now that prom was so close, Noel had to make sure he didn’t get too excited thinking about it. Robin’s teasing never helped. Suddenly, Noel rolled over, gently pushing her into the mattress so that he could lean over her, his hand resting on her hip. “Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of, her job… and how, I’d be there to service… you,” he gave a sheepish grin. “In fact,” he added, quickly looking to either side as if to make sure no-one else was listening. “I even borrowed some books. You know, about what women like,” he laughed, waggling his eyebrows before his face settled into a more serious look. “I just want it to feel good for you. I don’t want you to have any regrets on prom night.”

Robin wasn’t exactly sure what to make of Noel’s expression as he walked into the kitchen, but she just hoped she wasn’t overstepping her boundaries.  It was her number one concern in regards to her family, and the only reason she pushed through each day was the thought that it could get easier.  And when Noel had come to her aid with her car, and then invited her to dinner… for the first time since being back, Robin finally was beginning to feel like it was getting easier (even if it was a little awkward starting off).
“Of course,” she nodded to him with a smile when he thanked her, her eyes searching his, trying to decide how he was feeling on this whole situation.  Once upon a time, they had been so open and honest with each other.  It pained Robin to think back on how things were, verses how they were now.  “C’mon Janie,”  she nudged the girl affectionately, once Noel had left to take a shower,  “let’s finish up so it’ll be ready soon.  I bet your father’s hungry.”
Together the two girls finished the pizza, Robin unable to resist the grin on her face at Jane’s triumphant look when she closed the oven door on it.  By the time Noel was back from his shower, both the kitchen and Jane’s hands had been clean, with Robin finishing up on a few dishes.  Looking back at him briefly, the brunette felt her stomach do a small flip at the sight of Noel all fresh and clean, his black hair slightly tousled. The feeling alone was so unexpected that the plate in her hand slipped out of it, landing back in the sink. At least that was enough to get her attention back where it needed to be.
“Oh, that sounds like fun,”  she said, tossing a smile back at Jane. It sounded like a special night for them both – Robin was beginning to wonder if Noel had invited her to dinner tonight with that in mind or not. Likely not.  “Chocolate, please,”  her gaze flickered back to Noel, giving him a small nod.  “How was work today?  Other than having to come to my aide,”  Robin added, with a slight smile.
Tumblr media
“I guess I’ll have vanilla then,” Noel said almost humorously, scooping out a ball of strawberry ice-cream and chucking it into a blender in order to make Jane’s milkshake first. “The same,” he shrugged. “It was alright, saving you from the side of the road, saved me from another pointless meeting. I’m beginning to think nothing gets done in a democracy,” he smirked, before turning on the blender, his eyes glancing back down to what his hands were doing as the loud noise filled the room. Afterwards he handed Jane her milkshake. She shouted thank you, and immediately took a sip, her top lip lining with pink milk. “How was work? Are you still writing?” Noel always did think Robin had a talent. He certainly wasn’t the best editor of anything she wrote while they were together - he always failed to find any flaws in her work.
Tumblr media
“You don’t have to do that, by the way,” Noel nodded at Robin washing the dishes. “You can relax, thank you for making dinner. I wasn’t expecting gourmet pizza,” he added, while sliding over Robin’s chocolate milkshake. “Did you make the dough yourself? Or did you buy a base?” Noel asked, continuing to make small talk. It was awkward. He had plenty of other questions. Questions like, where did you go when you left, what did you do while you were away, how did you live? He wanted to talk about all the missing years, but where did one even begin. “Jane, set the table, honey,” he told the little girl.

Robin let out a small squeal as he tossed her on the bed, elbows propped up as she watched him get more comfortable.  God, it was times like these where she wish she didn’t live at home, and could just have sex with her boyfriend like other girls her age.  For awhile she had been nervous about it, but after being with Noel for so long she just wanted to do it already – though not in a car, or someplace that might cause her embarrassment in retrospect.  She wanted it to be special, which is why prom night – despite how cliche it was – was their unspoken plan.  “I told him I was spending the night at Chloe’s for a girl’s night,”  the teenager admitted, sliding her body closer to his until they were face-to-face.  “Honestly I’m surprise they believe it, but I’ve already warned Chloe that if they get a call in the middle of the night from them, she needed to cover for me.”  It wasn’t often Robin lied to her parents, so she hoped it wouldn’t come to that.  “Have you made the reservation yet?”
Tumblr media
Noel combed the hair out of her face, as she sidled in, smiling at their closeness. For her, Noel would wait to have sex. There was no question about it. Maybe they were different to the couples around them, but he didn’t care. They had something special, he believed that, and so he wasn’t going to ruin it for sex. “That doesn’t sound unbelievable to me,” he assured her. He could tell a part of Robin felt bad for lying to her parents, and so Noel really didn’t want to mess up on their prom night. He wanted everything to be worth it. “I have,” Noel smirked, his hand moving lower to caress her outer thigh. “It’s a good thing we both turned 18 this year. I even got my brother to buy us some champagne to sneak into the room. And, we can order room service all night. We’ll be just like Julia Roberts and Richard Gere in Pretty Woman, drinking champagne, and eating strawberries. Except in this case, you’re Richard Gere, and I’m Julia Roberts,” Noel waggled his eyebrows, a mischievous grin on his face.
