It is known that women make up over half of the staffing for non-profit organizations but their stats fall flat when analyzing leadership positions.
“Few women to be found in Pa. corporate, nonprofit boardrooms: 'it's a problem’”

”Women hold over 59 percent of the nation's bachelor degrees, nearly 63 percent of master's degrees, 52 percent of doctorate degrees and 32 percent of master's in business administration, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.” -Author, Jan Murphy
Even being educated, women only make up for 47% of the U.S. workforce.
Earlier this week Pennsylvania has been officially recognized as the fifth state to regulate companies and nonprofits to have a minimum of 30% women directors by the end of 2020. This is the beginning of equal representation of  leadership between the sexes.

This article summarizes the domination of women volunteers through multiple graphs and charts. These images explain and represent all results taken from areas of employment, salary, age, and family- and still women dominant volunteerism besides the outcome. In conclusion, women are more likely to volunteer in an education or health setting, while men prefer a civic or public safety organization.
“’Women are attracted to the community aspects of volunteering... practical benefits of developing skills and creating a network appeals more to men’“
- CEO of YCore, Olivia Bryant

“Nonprofits are bracing for what’s next. President Trump’s proposed budget eliminates the Corporation for National and’ Community Service, and with it would go AmeriCorps, a related program called Senior Corps for older volunteers and the Social Innovation Fund.”
-Author, Liz Moyer
Although it is just a proposal for now, the new administration seeks to minimize importance and budgets for anything that is not of Homeland Security or military related. Non-profits now face an even bigger threat than just general federal support. The prior issue of federal funding supporting non-profits or not has been solved by block grants; and those grants have been a Republican target.

The indirect reasoning behind women’s rights organizations
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”  -Margaret Mead

An argument that stands is whether or not the reasoning behind volunteering matters, being altruistic, egoistic, or coercive. In any case, formal and even informal volunteering is still volunteering. It is a way in producing growth in some way towards someone in need, communities, and overall, the country.

Suffrage is the right to vote in elections. Before the Women’s Suffrage Movement and before the year 1920, women were not entitled to this right.  Of course there were tons of civic organizations who supported and educated the public on women’s suffrage (ran by infamous women, such as Susan B. Anthony and Margaret Mead), but there were also plenty of other organizations within the past social capital that did not- this is one of their flyers. This is an action of negative social capital promotion.

It is not commonly known that some of the most successful non-profits are ran by entrepreneurial women. These organizations can be specifically aimed to benefit women or not, but they are created to impact a targeted group. A few of these well-known not-for-profit groups are Girls Who Code, Special Olympics, Movemeant Foundation, and Dressember.

Policy failure usually occurs because of excessive demands, undefined problems and goals, undiscussed alternative options, and colliding policies. Healthcare is a service of excessive demand. Healthcare is available to everyone, but not affordable to everyone. As of now, there is not a definite replacement plan of Obamacare or even a definite plan of improvement on the healthcare policy. Due to the delay, women are holding of on prenatal care and women’s preventative care; some insurance could not cover contraceptive and maternity/newborn care.

Policy tools chosen to prohibit, lessen or ban women’s choices did not present high acceptance rates as shown by the Women’s March on January 21st. Currently, a general strike is set for March 8th- “A Day Without A Women”. As a policy tool, such bans or the taking away of free choice and options do not sit well with society. The strike will take place to symbolize not only equality, togetherness, and people’s rights, but it will also symbolize the generalized democratic principles of the country. Being that the people taking action within these gatherings are considered unofficial actors within the policy system, these marches and strikes can also be considered a tool of fighting back.
