I’ve made a BNHA OC school discord server- Shoudai Academy!  There’s both RP and character discussion.

          Shoudai Academy is a formerly prestigious hero school, one of the first ones to open in the country.  It's run as a traditional school, using a blend of old Buddhist values and modern western techniques.  However, it's fallen out of favor compared to more sleek, modern schools currently. There are currently three 15 member classes at Shoudai in each year, two hero classes and a support class.

         Each class has a coat pin with its floral emblem on it to mark their class. The current first year classes are Sakura-gumi (hero), Tsubaki-gumi (hero), and Momo-gumi (support). The campus is located in Hokkaido, in the north of Japan.  It can get quite cold as a result.  Students live in the old-style paper and wood houses on the campus except for during breaks.

                 “I heard you expelled a student today,” he flicked the lighter top open.  “You ever think about what that does to them?”  His tone of voice was more casual than he really felt.

                   “Nice to meet you,” Philip returned.  “What’s your specialty?” If the other even had a formal degree.  Qualifications around UA could be nebulous at times, which had been controversial 20 years ago but was now mostly a non-issue, for better or worse.

                       After speaking, he returned to draining his cup as quickly as possible.  He still wasn’t feeling it yet.  Curse his liver.  Maybe he should take a break from drinking, he mused, knowing he wouldn’t do it.  He couldn’t show up to work shaking, after all.

Suoh would admit, he’d been caught a little off guard when he was offered to spend time with other staff members for an evening of drinking. Not that he minded of course, it was nice to be able to finally get out and talk to some of the other teachers that he’d been since attempting to avoid. Though that was a personal preference to get himself settled in the job before he really got too comfortable with those who he was surrounded with.

“I’m surprised this place isn’t that busy, actually …” He muttered under his breath as he glanced around, having expected to see a lot more people drinking on a Friday night after a long work week. But perhaps most people took it home for the weekend instead. He never was one for going out and drinking. Though this was arguably because he was clumsy enough without drink inhibiting his senses some.

“Have you come to many of these before?” Suoh asked the person beside him, an easy and welcoming smile reaching his lips.

                         Philip looked up from his cup, surprised that the new guy was talking to him already.  Perhaps partially because he had only finished one cup and he didn’t tend to feel comfortable at work parties until two and a half cups.  (That was still way more than it used to take, but moving on from that thought.)

                              “Enough,” he replied eventually.  “...I’m Philip.  Philip Suiyama.  I teach Japanese and international literature.”  Philip wondered what the other had been getting up to end up teaching here.  “How long have you been at UA?”

Touya had been surprised when Fuyumi had called him earlier that day, saying she had a caught a bad flu at her school and couldn’t be there for Shouto’s parent night, but he’d agreed immediately to go there in her place. 

And apparently, Aizawa was down for the count as well. Oh well.

"I’ve always told Aizawa he’d get sick one day with his habit of sleeping on the floor, sleeping bag or not. Quite rude of me maybe, but serves him right. I hope subbing for him isn’t much trouble, I know some of his classes can be a little… hectic.”

                 “He sleeps in a sleeping bag at school?” Philip’s brow creased in confusion.  No way he was interpreting that right, it would have been as bad or worse than Philip’s affinity for smoking at school when nobody else was around.

                    “...They’re not poorly intentioned kids, anyway,” he said, trying to change the subject matter.  “I’ve taught some really bad classes at this school, and at least these ones don’t torment each other,” a pause, “Much.”

                    “Shouto is a good kid.  He’s really come into his own over the last few months.”  He’d make a good hero if he could manage to get over himself, but most kids shed their juvenile awkwardness and some of the self obsession by the third year.  It was other flaws that lived on much longer.
