Kara just really really wants to date Lena supercorp au?
“Date me,” Kara says.
“No,” Lena answers calmly.
Kara gasps, blinking fast, shocked by the nonchalant response. Lena merely looks at her tablet, her attention clearly divided. Her best friend sits cross-legged next to her on the couch, sweater and sweatpants and socks on, comfortable and relaxed.
“No? But—Lena, I’m cute and funny.” Kara scrunches her nose and squints at Lena’s tablet screen.
Lena pauses. “That’s true,” she says slowly, and finally looks at Kara. Lifting her hand up, she pushes Kara’s glasses back up on her nose using her index finger. Then, she only just returns her attention back to her tablet.
Alex squints at them from across the room. “Oh, great,” she groans, before standing up and taking her phone out of her pocket. “Where's Kelly?” she mumbles to herself as she leaves the living room, making her way to Lena’s balcony.
“Is that—wait, so is that a yes?”
“It’s a no, Kara. I only agreed with the cute & funny part,” Lena says, distracted.
“Lena.” Kara's mouth opens and closes, eyes blinking fast. “Wow, you don’t let a girl down easy. Sad girl down!”
“Well, get back up,” Lena quips. She strokes Kara’s knee, touch tender.
“I—what—?” Kara stammers, with wild eyes. Falling backwards on the couch, she stares at the ceiling. “I can’t believe you—is this how you usually respond when someone asks you out? So this is what rejection feels like.”
“Trust me, you’ll feel better after eating a plate full of potstickers.”
“Maybe.” Kara bites her bottom lip. Frowning, she sits back up and pokes Lena’s thigh. “But can I ask why not? I have abs, Lena.”
Lena wheezes. A few seconds later, Kara also shakes in silent laughter as well.
“Look,” Kara says, touches her glasses and licks her lips. She’s trying to keep a straight face on. “I’ll play with your hair everyday and give you lots of face kisses if you date me.”
“Well…” Setting the tablet down, Lena pretends to think about it.
Then, the balcony door opens and Alex shows up again, walking in.
Lena shoots Alex a please help me look, but Alex pretends she doesn’t see it as she refills her glass of water. After that, she dashes out of the room so quickly she becomes a blur of red hair and black clothes.
Damn her.
Kara sees Lena’s face and pouts, taking her arms back. Lena whimpers, because the heaters aren’t on and it’s cold right now and Kara’s hands on her waist were keeping her warm, goddamnit.
Lena tries, and fails, to pull Kara’s arms back around her.
“Kara. Those arms, put them back where they came from—”
Kara does as told, and indulges her. “I have decided that this is the last time I’m going to cuddle you. I only cuddle people I date.”
“Lies.”
“It’s true.”
Lena breaks into a smile—or rather a smirk, really. “It’s not. Don’t threaten to deprive me of your warm hugs and cuddles.”
“Oh, Lena.” Kara sighs. “You see, I would pay so much more attention to you if you dated me. Your best friend who has abs. So, maybe date me?”
Lena considers it for a second, then wrinkles her nose. “I don’t think so.”
“Wha—” Kara stutters, offended. “I'll have you know I'm an excellent girlfriend. I'll bring you flowers and chocolate and give you nose kisses. You’re the perfect height to receive nose kisses from me.”
Lena only stares at her, the corners of her mouth twitching into something like a smile.
Then, someone laughs—loud.
They both look up to see Alex on the balcony with a ridiculous goofy smile on her face, phone next to her ear.
“Look at Alex. I want that. Did you know that Alex’s girlfriend takes her on a date every week, each Saturday, and has a special routine? Kelly gives Alex’s face ten kisses every night, all over her face. It’s relationship goals.”
Lena cracks a smile. “Gay.”
Kara nods solemnly. “Gay.”
“Women, huh, Kara.” Lena arches an eyebrow at her.
“Hush, Lena. I’m still coming to terms with it.”
Lena tilts her head, smiling amusedly. “Kara, you’ve been ‘coming to terms with it’ since… well, since you met me. I think you have it figured out by now.”
Kara shrugs. “I mean… I still don’t know for sure, Lena. See, I’ve never dated a woman before—”
“—What on earth are you talking about, you dated Lucy before she left National City—”
“—How do I truly know if I like women if I have never felt the warmth of a woman’s touch? I’ve walked my whole life confused, lost and scared, hidden from showing my true self to anyone—”
“—Kara, Eliza said “I know” when you came out to her—”
Kara sighs deeply, eyes wide. “How do I just know when I don’t even know how to hold a woman’s hand?”
Lena takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. “And I thought I was the dramatic one. Darling, you astound me.”
Kara sighs, sad and dejected. “Lena, what was that quote about tiddies?”
“The what now?”
“From Sappho’s. I think it was something like ‘may you sleep on the breast of your delicate friend’? Yeah, it’s that. Oh to sleep on the breast of my delicate friend.” Kara cries. “That’s what I want, too.”
Lena falls down on Kara’s chest, laughter bubbling inside her chest and trying to squirm away. Kara doesn't let her, instead she just cackles along with her. Lena bites Kara on the neck, who doesn't even flinch, which, what the fuck—instead just shifts Lena back to sitting up and then dramatically sprawls out on her back even more.
“Date me, Lena,” Kara says. “Date me, date me, date me—”
“Kara.” Lena sighs, squeezing Kara’s hand. “I am not going to date you. You would spend more time at the gym than you would with me.” She pokes her abs.
“Oh, no.” Kara sniffs. “But you like and enjoy how strong I am. Don't think I don't notice how flustered you get when I pick you up or hold you in my arms.”
Lena looks faintly pink. “That's none of your business,” she says calmly. “I like muscles, you're not special.” Kara only just now notices Lena’s wrinkled sweater from the earlier actions, and starts smoothing them.
“You look nice. You look really good in my clothes.”
Lena sits still as Kara fixes her up, keeping a poker face even when Kara tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
“I look good in everything.”
“But my clothes are simply the best.” Then, Kara gasps. “Yet another reason you should date me.”
Lena sighs, shifting her weight around in Kara’s lap. It’s quiet for a bit, eyes on each other as they listen to Alex talking outside.
Kara takes the opportunity to cup Lena’s face. When Lena doesn’t move, just stays still in Kara’s lap, Kara gives Lena a kiss on the cheek.
Lena pulls back.
“Kara! What was that.” Lena raises an eyebrow, incredulous. Her hands slip under Kara’s shirt, palm on her abs.
“I'm trying to seduce you,” Kara says, trying to keep a straight face, and stops Lena’s wandering hands underneath her shirt.
“It isn't working.”
“Darn.”
Lena nods. “You need to work on your skill.”
“Yes, well… that's not exactly what the last person I had sex with said.”
Lena frowns. “Wait, what? When did you have sex with someone?”
“Hmm. Just yesterday, some woman from a friend’s birthday party. She was lovely. Pretty, too. Why, you jealous?”
Lena scoffs. “No,” she says. Kara pokes her cheek.
“Aw, jealous baby,” Kara coos. “How can you be jealous when you’re not even dating me?”
“I’m not jealous,” Lena insists. “I know what you taste like. I know how you are, and I’m very sure I’m not missing out on much.”
“Oh, really now.” Kara breathes a laugh. “I made you cry the last time we hooked up! You were begging so much—Kara, Kara, please! Kara please, want you to touch me, fuck me now, don’t stop, please, please—”
Lena lets out a strangled noise and quickly quiets Kara, squishing her palm against Kara’s mouth. After a moment, when Kara shows no sign of talking anymore, Lena hesitantly takes her hand off Kara’s mouth.
“So, it’s really a big no on dating me, huh.”
Lena pauses, biting her lip.
“I’ll think about it.”
“Amazing,” Kara whispers. “Lena, are we still pretending it wasn't you that I danced & flirted with at Kelly’s birthday party? I even guided you all the way back to your bed. It's been one whole day since you've last gotten—well, um. You know. Are you okay? How are you surviving?”
“I’m thriving.” Lena breathes out. “I’m living my best life. Been doing some soul searching, too. Finding myself.”
Kara wheezes.
“If you really want to date me,” Lena says, seriously, “you would make me some tea and let me do my work peacefully.”
Kara turns incredulous. “But Lena, I can't move.” She cries. “You’re in my lap, snuggled toasty warm against me and feeling me up. You get up!”
Lena slumps down until Kara’s back hits the couch and Lena’s lying completely on Kara. Kara immediately hugs her with her toned arms.
“No,” Lena says. “I’m cold, warm me up.”
“Ice block human,” Kara whispers. “Date me.”
“No,” Lena says, groaning right into Kara’s ear. She tucks her face into Kara’s neck, her lips touching the skin there. “No, for the last time. I will not date you, Kara Danvers.”
“Golly—that’s not even my full name. How many times can you break a woman's heart today? Aren’t you quite the heartbreaker.”
Lena only makes a muffled sound against her neck.
“No more straps. I’m never giving you some ever again,” Kara decides.
“But I like it when you use the strap. Why not?”
Kara scoffs. “I meant the sour straps. Lollies—my snacks in the cupboards. But since you brought that up, I mean that, too.”
“Wait, are you serious?” Lena pulls herself away, now sitting on Kara’s thighs.
“Dead serious. I’m cute, funny, and I have abs. And as you already know, my strap game is rather incredible. Ask yourself if you deserve the hot package.”
Lena sighs, looking like she’s really considering it. “Kara.”
“I’m a hot item.”
“Come on now, Kara…”
Kara sighs and turns her head to the side, dramatically.
Lena shakes her head. “This doesn’t need to be complicated.”
Kara frowns. “Oh, I see it now. All this time, the only reason why you like me is because of my strap game. I should have known.”
“Oh my god.”
Kara fake sniffs. “No matter, Lena. You’re my favourite person. I still love you, even knowing this.”
Lena mock slaps her on the shoulder, turning it into a gentle hand when it moves up on Kara’s cheek.
“You’re ridiculous, you know that? And pretty, too,” Lena murmurs. Kara takes Lena’s hand off her cheek and presses a kiss to the palm, eyes never leaving Lena’s. Lena’s cheeks darken with colour.
“You’re prettier.”
Lena swallows. “Kara, I—”
“I can’t take this any longer.” Alex opens the door loudly and stomps her way inside. “Can you two stop fucking flirting for one goddamn minute?”
“Alex, I have no idea what you're talking about,” Lena states, blinking. “Kara, darling, could you please remove your hand from my boob?”
Kara gives Lena’s boob a soft squeeze, her other hand cupping bare skin from where she's slipped her hand underneath Lena's sweater.
“I don’t want to.”
“Okay, then.”
“Oh my god,” Alex says, covering her face with her hands. “I want to go home. I need to go—now. I got what I wanted a while ago.”
“Love you, Alex. You are more than welcome to,” Kara tells her. “You’ve been here in Lena’s penthouse long enough.”
“What—you talk as if you haven’t been here all day, too.” Lena frowns.
“It’s the weekend—no work, no other stuff. What’s wrong with spending my free time with my best friend?” Kara says, cupping Lena’s face lovingly.
Lena smiles. “You’re sweet.”
Alex stares at them, horrified. “Wow, it’s like… it’s like listening to highschoolers on a first date!”
“Um, but we aren't dating, Alex,” Kara reminds her sister gently.
“No, no, you're right, Kara. You aren't dating,” Alex agrees, and takes a deep, deep breath. “You're fucking married,” she hisses, wild-eyed. “I was the goddamn maid of honour at your wedding. You live here and you co-parent a cat with Lena. You've been married for like, three years now. Which makes your strange, awful flirting so much worse, Kara Danvers-Luthor!"
Kara and Lena only look at each other, snickering.

I won’t kiss you. It might get to be a habit and I can’t get rid of habits.
- F. Scott Fitzgerald
She sits across from you, bright and easy in her movements on a chair that you know isn’t comfortable, and you’re struck. She half-laughs half-smiles, the kind where her tongue presses against the backs of her teeth and peeks through unbidden, like she’s considered trying to restrain her happiness but given up halfway through. You think of sunlight pressing rays against the backs of clouds and warm spring days pressing against the backs of winter winds and then she says your name, she says Lena in the middle of her laughter, and you almost break your only rule.
You won’t kiss her.
Just this one time, you tell yourself, because that is what you always tell yourself. It’s a tired argument, one you’ve been losing to your better sense for years, but now you’ve wanted to kiss Kara three times in two days and she’s just laughed your name from her lips, and for the first time in a long time, you consider allowing yourself to lose.
Your eyes drop to her mouth. She goes quiet. You could look at her now, could lift the angle of your gaze by a few degrees and meet her eyes and confess with your own, and God it would be so, so, easy after that. You’d fall in kisses and in bed just as easily as you’d fallen into café seats across from her all those years ago.
But you won’t kiss her.
It might get to be a habit, and you can’t get rid of habits.
(And where is the line, you think, between habit and addiction? Habit, routine, ritual, addiction: it does not matter. You are a Luthor, and if you allow Kara to be any of these things for you, she will become a target. You will be opening the softest part of yourself to the biting cold of vulnerability, and exposing the city’s hero to danger is something you refuse to do, bulletproof or not.
Is that really what it is? you wonder sometimes, quiet in the middle of the night, like your own thoughts are a secret to be kept from yourself. Are you afraid of her weaknesses, or are you afraid of handing her your own?)
Instead, you glance back down at your lap and not up at her eyes, you respond to whatever it is that’s just made her laugh, and the air clears like it had never been fraught with anything at all.
It’s not the first time you’ve had to throw ropes around the neck of your instinct and drag it home to reason, its heels dug in deep and leaving tracks in the mud the whole way. Your psyche is littered with these trails, of moments where you thought I have to and I can’t and Run, then in tandem. Somewhere along the way they’ve started passing over one another, crosshatches creating a larger picture that you refuse to step back and look at for fear that it will tell you what you already know to be true: there is something here, and it is bigger than you both.
Later, when she’s gone and you’re leaned forward and lazily dangling your wrists over the edge of your balcony, you feel afraid, because it’s getting harder to fight. You’ve spent years weaving stone labyrinths of reasoning, and today Kara had barely so much as laughed and the sun of her had nearly collapsed every one of them down to its base. Your excuses to yourself are starting to look flimsier, your arguments starting to devolve into near-stalemates. But does this mean you’re getting weaker, you wonder, or stronger? Where does one side of the war end and the other start, if the battlefield is just one connecting circle rotating around your heart?
She will find you like this, contemplative and rolling the edges of a deeply personal paradox around your mind. She will float just in front of your balcony, wiggle her eyebrows jokingly at your seriousness, and then sink down to rest her chin upon the backs of her stacked flattened hands on the ledge just next to you. She says something light and casual, like I’m here to listen, if you want to tell me what’s going on in that big genius brain of yours, and you falter.
You won’t kiss her. It might get to be a habit–
You turn your head, cut your eyes over to hers, and she’s otherworldly. The breeze of the night pushes a few stray hairs across her face, and her eyes are big and soft and exactly the same color blue as the city behind her. You bite your lip, lost in a concentration of what if, what if, what ifs, and then her own lips part and her eyes drop heavy to your mouth, and you break:
you’re going to kiss her.
You do not know this yet, but when your lips meet hers, the shaky cog within you will grind to a halt for a moment. When she kisses you back, it will catch its teeth on its neighbor, and restart itself with a smooth vigor anew, the genesis of a domino effect that will bring life to parts of you that you had forgotten went dark.
It will be just as easy as you knew it would be. You will fall into kisses and into beds with her, into holidays spent in Midvale and family trees that do not fill their roots with poison; and then– and then Kara will see the picture you’ve been working so hard not to look at, and when she tips your chin so that you can both admire it together, you will know what you’ve always known: you are in love.

Au where Kara used the book of destiny and lose her mind. When Lena wakes up after the crisis nobody can remember Kara.
So I’ll be honest I still don’t fully understand what happened in crisis, but I did my best!
Read on AO3 + my ko-fi
“Supergirl.” Lena greets coldly as two familiar red boots land on her balcony.
A visit is about the last thing she wants right now. She’s still trying to wrap her head around everything Lex was talking about this morning. In one fell swoop, the world she knew was gone, she lost her company, and her brother was being awarded the noble peace prize instead of being sentenced to prison. It’s enough to make her head ache, and the idea of listening to Kara grovel only makes it worse.
“Miss Luthor.” Supergirl replies as she walks into Lena’s office, her cape billowing behind her.
Lena keeps a straight face at Kara’s unusual coolness. It’s reminiscent of the early days of their friendship and Lena hates how it throws her off. After weeks of apologies and begging, Kara stands in the middle of her office every inch the Super she is, looking like she’s inspecting the place.
“If you’re here to explain, there’s no need, Lex already filled me up.” Lena rubs her temples wearily.
Supergirl’s brow furrows as she turns slightly to look at Lena over her shoulder.
“Explain what?”
Lena lifts her head slightly to look Kara in the eye as she turns fully towards her.
“Crisis. The book of destiny, the anti-monitor, Luthor Corp.” Each word falls from Lena’s lips like they leave a bad aftertaste in her mouth.
“I think there might be some confusion as to why I’m here Miss Luthor.”
Lena fully lifts her head this time as she leans back into her chair.
“So, what, you were just going to skip over everything? Hope I didn’t remember so that you don’t have to keep apologizing?”
Supergirl takes a step forward, hands settling on her hips.
“Have I offended you in some way?”
“Offended?” Lena stands, ignoring how her head throbs with every step she takes to round her desk. “You only lied to me for years about your secret identity.”
“My secret identity?”
“This is how we’re going to do this? A new reality, and you go right back to lying to me?”
“Miss Luthor, I really don’t know- “
“Kara Danvers.” Lena seethes. She hates that Kara is forcing her to say it. That she’s still denying it to Lena. “CatCo reporter.”
“Who’s Kara Danvers?”
The words hit Lena like a bucket of ice water. Her whole body stiffens as the hero stares at her with concerned eyes.
“Lena…” Supergirl’s voice is so soft and familiar all of a sudden that it makes Lena’s stomach twist. “Can I take you to the DEO? I think you might be sick.”
“I think you might be right.” Lena finally answers, as she smiles robotically at Supergirl. “But I can’t let you fly me off in the middle of the day.”
Supergirl looks like she’s about to protest when Lena continues, “I will go as soon as I’m done for the day.”
“Promise?”
Lena feels nauseous as she looks at Supergirl looking at her with an expression she’s seen a hundred times.
“’I promise.” Lena croaks.
---
Walking into the DEO is much easier now, Lena realizes. A perk of having her family name written across the floor, everyone is much less surprised to see her. The only head that turns towards the sound of her heels echoing on tile floors is Director Alex Danvers.
Lena barely slows as she signals to the director before letting herself into the nearest office.
“Something’s wrong with Supergirl.” Lena says as soon as she hears the door click.
“Did something happen at your office?”
“You could say that.” Lena scoffs as she turns to look at Alex.
“She went to tell you that we found evidence that Lex is stealing your work, just like you said. What happened?”
That makes Lena pause. She and Kara didn’t actually get around to talking about why she had come by the office. She had flown out the window shortly after Lena promised she’d go to the DEO herself.
“Lex is stealing my work?” Lena blinks. “That bastard is winning a noble peace prize with my work?”
Alex uncrosses her arms and takes a half step forward with a gentle look of concern.
“Lena, is everything alright? You already knew this was happening, we talked about it remember?” Alex takes another cautious half step forward. Lena winces internally as she feels a stab of pain behind her left eye as she realizes in frustration Kara must have already talked to Alex about this morning. “You came to me. You told me that Lex wasn’t everything he seemed. We’ve been looking for this evidence for months…Supergirl wanted to be the one to tell you.”
Of course.
Of course, Kara would want to be the one to tell her. Of course, Kara believes in her. Kara’s always believes in her. Why would the destruction of the multiverse change that?
Lena’s chest tightens, her breathing growing shallow as she reaches out casually to brace herself on the table.
“Lena.” Alex’s face swims before her, her voice coming in and out as she navigates Lena into a chair. “Lena, you need to sit down.”
Lena’s murmuring to herself, calling Lex all sorts of unpleasant names under her breath. “He can recreate the universe but he can’t recreate himself. Same manipulating, cunning, asshole.”
“Recreate the universe? What are you talking about?”
“Lex.” Lena says like it’s completely obvious, before she looks Alex dead in the eyes and sees all the same concern, she had seen in Kara’s eyes this morning.
“God, you don’t remember anything either, do you?”
“Remember what?”
“The multiverse!” Lena stands, inadvertently pushing Alex back.
“The DEO,” Lena points in the direction of the agents she knows sit outside the office, “was a black ops government agency. You were still the director and Supergirl still worked for you. But you told people you were a part of the FBI because people don’t know you exist. And it certainly wasn’t a Luthor subsidiary! I helped out occasionally but…” Lena waves her hand in the air as she continues.
“Luthor Corp. Luthor Corp was L-Corp. I became CEO when Lex was sentenced to 32 consecutive life sentences after trying to kill Superman and murdering innocent people in the process. I’m the one that made it a force for good! Not him!
And Supergirl! Supergirl is Kara Danvers, a sweet, sunny reporter for CatCo magazine because even in her secret identity she can’t stand to see injustice in the world. She’d just won a Pulitzer Award. Your parents adopted her as a child. She’s your sister, she’s my best friend. And no one remembers who she is! She doesn’t even remember who she is!”
Lena’s almost panting by the time she stops. Her throat aches slightly from raising her voice, and her headache is definitely back in full swing.
“You’re not the only one that remembers.”
Lena turns towards the door to find J’onn watching them both.
“Kara seems to be the only Paragon that doesn’t remember what happened.”
“Lex probably made sure of that.” Lena hisses as J’onn just nods in agreement.
“Manipulating someone’s memories can be dangerous. I wanted to be sure it was the right thing to do.”
Lena lifts her chin, jaw muscles clenching slightly. “And, what have you decided?”
J’onn looks over to Alex momentarily before looking back at Lena. “I think it would be best if I restored Alex and Kara’s memories…Lex isn’t what he seems in this world, and he has all of his memories. They can help us better if they have their memories.”
Lena nods, “And everyone else?”
“I can’t.” J’onn says regretfully. “Restoring everyone’s memories could have catastrophic consequences. It would change relationships on such a large scale that the mental impact would- “
“I understand.” Lena sighs, as she lowers herself into a chair. “But Kara and Alex?”
“Should not pose any problems.”
---
“You may want to sit for this.” J’onn suggests gently, not bothering to specify if he is talking to Kara or Alex.
Lena watches as he places hands on both of Alex’s temples and closes his eyes, Alex following his lead. She feels a pang of sympathy as Alex winces every once in awhile, her eyes flicking back and forth under her lids.
Finally, Alex settles and J’onn steps back. It’s a moment longer before Alex’s eyes start to flutter, and she finally opens them. Looking between Lena and J’onn she takes a deep breath but says nothing.
“It’s okay if you need a minute.” J’onn says as he gives Alex’s knee a squeeze.
“Kelly?” Alex croaks, looking relieved when J’onn nods again.
“We can talk to her. I can restore her memories too, if she wishes.”
Then J’onn turns to Kara, waiting as she stares over his shoulder at Lena.
“I’m ready.” Kara says strongly, never breaking eye contact until she closes her eyes at J’onn’s touch.
Kara twitches more then Alex did. Occasionally crying out as she clenches the arms of the chair. The plastic warping under her strength. Lena holds her breath as a single tear runs down Kara’s cheek as J’onn pulls away.
Both J’onn and Alex quietly leave while Kara still sits in her chair, eyes closed, gently breathing.
“Lena?”
“I’m here.” Lena whispers as she shifts quietly to the chair closest to Kara.
“I’m really sorry.” Kara whimpers, her eyes scrunching up against more tears.
Lena nods despite Kara’s eyes still being closed. “I’m sorry too.”
Lena takes a deep breath when watery blue eyes blink open to look as her.
“I made a terrible mistake. I was hurt…I was so hurt, and, I thought I could get rid of the hurt…I thought I could push you away.” Lena’s voice shakes as she lifts a hand to stop Kara from talking. “But I can’t…For a moment this morning I was forced to live a reality where Kara Danvers didn’t exist. And I realized…I realized I’d rather be fighting with you than push you out of my life again, because even for a moment, not having you in my life was the worse thing I could imagine.”
Lena blinks, taking in another long shuddering breath as Kara stares at her for a long moment.
“I’m still going to need some time…”
“I know.” Kara whispers.
“But I’d really like to start working towards being your friend again…if you’ll have me?”
It’s like every tense muscle in Kara’s body deflates at those words as she smiles softly at Lena.
“Always.”
