Forgot to share this on the blog! I really like the fumeFX with Krakatoa "ink in water" renders floating (ha!) out there on the tube of you. I tried to do something similar in Cinema4d with TurbulenceFD for the fluid motion to drive the x-particles with layering/blurring post work in HitFilm. I forget how many particles I used in the initial shot but it was in the millions...

Just got my Xbox One and realized my current setup wasn't very Kinect friendly so I did a little research and found this to be the best solution. There is an official TV mount for the new Kinect but this was cheaper and seems to to the trick. Not VFX related but I thought it was worth sharing.

More X-Particles fun with Cinema4d... More of an abstract turbulent animation...

Testing the new rendering speeds with X-Particles 2.5...I'm impressed.

Learning HitFilm 2 for compositing and converting a 2d image into a 3d scene seemed like a good intro to learning the software. Not great but eh... Still learning how the software works. Pretty cool application.

Playing around with the the new kerning tools for 3d text in Cinema4D r15. The scene was created using x-particles, transform and rendered using the physical render engine. Minor post work with After Effects.

I know RealFlow is the way to go for fluid simulation but I feel that learning the EDU version as a hobbyist is like test driving a high end car. Fun, but I can't afford to pony up and buy a full license! I am beginning to learn the X-Particles SPH fluid dynamics they have included in 2.0. Being in its infancy feature wise I know I will not get the same quality as other fluid simulation applications but I find it's pretty easy to use once you figure out what each setting does (obviously...). Pardon my rough rigid body dynamics causing the cup/fluid to violently flip...

More X-Particles and TFD fun. I used the plugin pShade to shade the particles. pShade is awesome but I'm anxious to see how the Krakatoa plugin works with Cinema4d.

I know it doesn't form correctly but this is a tornado test using Cinema4d's mograph tools, thinking particles, and turbulenceFD. It needs work...

Testing the polygon modeling tools in Cinema4D R14. Looking forward to the new bevel tool in R15! Also, a little TurbulenceFD for the smoke.

This is a RnD test of a fire simulation for the current cgSociety VFX challenge. It's coming along but needs some work.

A small test using X-Particles and TurbulenceFD to create a basic flame thrower. These two plugins are a great combo!
