What kind of art style do you think Tavvy would have? Entertaining both the realistic assumption that he isn't very practiced at it and the hypothetical 'but what would it look like if he was?'.

My thoughts on the matter: Given his general vibes and the amount of times I've seen your Tavvy's I'd say his style wouldn't be too far of from yours but looking at his handwriting he'd definitely have impeccably smooth lines. This guy could draw so many perfect circles. Also this feels like a decent time to say some of your works vividly remind me of Bro's comic in the best way possible

If he'd developed art skills, it'd have to be because Jane wanted him to... that means it'd be an art style she approved of, and it might have to show significant competence in traditional fundamentals as well:

The types of styles that turn up in 1940s-50s American newspaper adverts sping to mind. That also fits pretty well with the old-fashioned Crocker-English theme... though that might be too much to expect from a teenager who already has a lot on their plate

If he was just doing it for himself, I'd instinctually think of old British cartoons like the Dandy, the Beezer or the Beano. It fits the old timey vibe, and they all sometimes looked like shit so it still fits if he can't draw for toffee

I hope some of the motifs from Beyond Canon album end up being leitmotifs. As much as I love hearing the old ones turn up and going "Hey, I recognise that Pattern of Notes or Chords!" it's surely going to get stale eventually

I'm gonna be very critical and 'mean' about homestuck beyond canon on homestuck day (sorry) but it's something that's very reoccurent and it's been kinda nagging at me every upd8 -

There's little to no filler, and it's extremely dulling to read at times

I think pre-hiatus they balanced lore and filler relatively well but the new updates are just lore drops upon lore drops upon lore drops and there's seemingly inconsistent spacing between a MEGA BLAST of lore and something goofy to pad it out

idk. i just want a silly upd8 because it's getting very heavy and draining to read lmfao it's getting extremely hard to pay attention to the lore when I haven't processed the PREVIOUS update

Initial thoughts on *that* new panel

Thought I might as well go through it before I see what other people are saying...

So, going out from the centre:

I think that's a little Yiffy poking the earth... they seem to be almost dissolving? that could represent them leaving, or maybe the way Earth C is running out of time?

Earth C is enclosed in a strange spiral with a thick head and an end like a question mark. I'd say this is the black hole, with the line either representing it being breached or just there as a decorative flair.

Red and Green spirals: these are common cherub iconography. They might show how Callie is the narrator... Interestingly, Caliborn's red overlaps some objects while Callilope's Green does not, and it also matches the background green of the ship. Iirc the new team retroactively re-swirled Callie, so maybe this is going to be really obvious foreshadowing of something in hindsight one day.

Five stars, one clearly Vriska-Esque. It seems likely that the four others are the Omega Kids.

Kanaya and Rose reconciling (?). The light lines maybe represent her awareness of the timeline's candy-ness? They're also melting (?) so maybe this actually shows their relationship dissolving?

Jake reaching out to his son: This seems like it might represent the Nakey Jakey moment, and maybe the fact they're similar heights shows Tavvy's maturity?

Jade and what is, from context, probably Uncle Dave. Dave's soul is escaping from above, just like Davebot did.

re: the little white guys overall: The little scratchy stylings kind of remind me of some parts in GODHEAD's art style. They do share some artists, so I wouldn't dismiss the possibility that it was an influence.

also re: the little white guys: Since we've had a reference to PS Death's Gaming Table recently it also seems relevant that they're shaped like gamepieces. Something Something game of life? We'll have to wait and see.

Big black Circles/Ovals: I thought they were an infinity or an 8, but they aren't actually connected... They follow the edges of the room, which is interesting. They're drawn almost like they're supposed to spin. One of them almost seems like it's framing Jade/Dave and Jake/Tavvy as steps or a cycle. I have no idea what any of this means yet.

The Belltower: In Dirk Orange, of course. This is where one of Callie's only friends killed himself, so it makes sense now why it's so ominous in the fanfiction.

Roxy flying up to a big pair of Blank Egbert Glasses. Blank usually means a ghost in homestuck, and this seems kind of like what Meat Roxy is doing: the meat gang are chasing after a ship with a dead egbert on it. However, this is a Candy themed mural... The glasses might be crying and Roxy has a bigger void-y spiral for a head: could this depict how John started to see the world, including his wife, as becoming fake?

Ragey Bits: These seem to be uplifting Roxy, and Jake and Tavvy seem to be standing on one. Roxy was the one who talked John out of his everyone-is-fake-except-for-me funk, and Tavvy was a major point of guilt during it... Since Rage is the aspect of Reality, maybe this shows how they served as anchors to it?

Various Lifey, Breathy and maybe Hopey squiggles: IDK. I guess we'll see.

Corner Harry: This Harry, the Roxy, the ragey bits and a lifey flair overlap the corners of the room rather than following them. Maybe something something leaving the timeline?

suspicious potted plants. they *almost* match the ones on the lefthand steps of the steps of the Long House, except for the blue one. That one is vaguely similar though. The GC plant is leaking (breath/freedom coloured?) water, possibly symbolising how they're talking to Vrissy within the timeline.

lots of knives in meat: probably the same meat Callie's been trying to get Kartkat to eat. The one next to the Blue plant is bleeding the most, and GC doesn't have one.

Corner Yiffy: It's interesting that there's no corner Tavvy or Vrissy. We've previously speculated that there will be 6 Deltritus players, but only 3 out of the flower colours from the Long House are in this panel. Maybe Yiffy and Harry will end up with GC's species, and Tavvy and Vrissy will end up with the others?

Can this really literally be The Homestuck Epilogues: Volume Candy? That spiral pattern is classic cherub iconography so it could just be some cherub artefact, but it being an epilogue is the obvious takeaway here.

The cover is wrong, but that's hardly a silver bullet counter

HOURS IN THE FUTURE

It makes sense for Karkat, author of Summerteen Romance, to be the person Callie went to. And also, it seems like this isn't just the Epilogue, but also the rest of it...

so, either: a) everything we just saw in Candy was fanfic and exclusively to characterise Callie: GC talking to Vrissy could just be an extension of this fanfic, but Davebot and Al having been on both sides seems like strong evidence against this.

b) everything we just saw in Candy was fanfic, but it will go on to be real without a bridging explanation: after all, this is the comic where MSPA character Spades Slick turned out to be one of the final bosses, and a version of him was the big bad for the front half. Maybe Problem Sleuth turning up in the bonus comics as a solid, real guy in the meat timeline was foreshadowing that the lines were going to get blurry again.

c) Callie is having ult-self overlap with Al, and is subconsiously picking up on the Candy timeline through that: the fanfic was descibed as "Visions", after all.

There's that tower again (with Roxy flying up to it on wings of Rage?)

This image deserved more analysis, a lot of things are jumping out at me already: This looks like a job for... Somebody Else!

If I stop and go through the whole thing I'll lose the plot for the liveblog! Maybe I'll do it after, before I see someone else's analysis which biases mine.

That's probably a Snowman/BQ... probably the same one from DD&D

So now Jake and Jane are retroactively on their way to Deltritus too... I wonder if she went through Jasperoses's lessons, if so I'd assume Swifer won the re-election.

Oh! that's it. Maybe "Addendum" instead of "Intermission" was a cheeky nod to how they were going to "Add" things to the timeline.

That was about what I'd expect from an Intermisson! I'm excited to see where this goes.
