Dead?
There was a loud bang and then everything went dark... The world was spinning when I awoke, I slowly stood up, but when I looked down a saw a sight that horrified me. There laying by me was me? only with a bullet hole in my head, no it couldn’t be, I’m in my body, aren’t I? I looked down at my arms and saw that they were a faint whiteish color, almost transparent. Suddenly all my memories returned to me. The fear, the pain, and the betrayal and lastly my death.
The only question is, if I’m dead why I am still on earth, why am I not in the afterlife. Before the questions could consume me, a young man walked into the alleyway were my body was, I ran up to the man “Sir, Sir, please help, please” I plead but it soon became obvious he could not see nor hear me. As the man laid eyes on m body he screamed and pulled out a phone, most likely to call the police. When the police arrived, I saw them searching my body for something, an officer yelled out obviously finding what they were looking for, in his hand was my ID.
I overheard the officers calling my family and not long after my mother and older brother showed up. I then saw another car pull up, as soon as the man stepped out of the car I was filled with rage. I lunged at the man, my body uselessly going straight through him. I sobbed as my useless soul fell to the floor. How dare he show up here, how could he, after all, this was all his fault…
Three children are sitting on a log near a stream. One of them looks up at the sky and says... “will we be together forever?” the youngest looks towards the oldest of the three, and reply’s “I hope so” the middle child takes both of their hands and goes “I know we will”
Oh, how I wish that was how things stayed. As the years went on the oldest of the three tried desperately to fit in with the older children at school and in the process pushed the others away. The middle child became sickly and as the years went on seemed to get more and more sick. The youngest tried to stay strong for the middle child but no matter what they did nothing ever seemed to change.
One day at the hospital during a visit to the middle child- lily, the oldest and the youngest were taken out of the room by the doctor. “look there is only a slim change of lily surviving but we can increase this if we get a one marrow transplant, are either of you blood related to lily?” the youngest immediately turned to the oldest “I’m not, but he is her older brother” the oldest looked at the ground for a second then looked at the doctor and stated “I’m not doing it” as they turned and waked away the doctor yelled out, “please this is our only chance to save her”, the youngest sobbed as they fell to the floor realizing for the first time that they were really not going to save lily. “I’m sorry Cathrine” the oldest muttered, walking out.
As the police searched my room for any evidence of who shot the gun, they found a stack of notebooks laying on my desk. The Man, the oldest, The one whom fault all of this is walked over to the notebooks and opened the one on top. As I ran my hands over the book I was pulled into memory’s.
Three children running around the woods laughing and playing as the oldest chased the two young girls.
The three children laying in the meadow surrounded by the flowers talking about what they where going to be doing over the holidays.
The oldest walking away with a large group a laughing boy, leaving the two girls behind.
Lily becoming sick and being diagnosed with bone cancer.
Hundreds of memories of my childhood flashed In front of my face.
The notebooks were entirely filled with pictures of diary entries of my life.
As the man turned to the last page a tear ran down his face, I knew at that moment that he had read the last entry the reasoning of my death. “I’m sorry Cathrine I’m so sorry”
Suddenly I was pulled into one last memory,
I was standing in the alleyway, crying, when suddenly a was pulled up by the waist and a gun pressed to my head. I didn’t fight back, why would I, my only reason to was dead when I didn’t fight back the man looked confused and to my confusion dropped the gun and ran. I picked up the gun and ran it turned it over a couple of time in my hands. “why didn’t you help her Louise, you were the only one who could” ….
Bang- everything went dark.

Protect them.
The gravestones stood silently, row upon row like soldiers long forgotten, a scream shattered the silence. The scream jolted me out of my daze and remembering why I was standing in the middle of a graveyard at 4 in the morning. I checked behind me and began sprinting again, weaving in and out of the M gravestones. I could hear the heave footsteps chasing after me and sped up, pushing myself to the limits. I couldn’t let it catch me, I couldn’t. My chest was on fire and my legs were aching and I knew the only thing that was keeping me going was fear and adrenaline. It was catching up, I’m so stupid for stopping, why did I do that.
I need to get to the center, I need to warn them, but I couldn’t with it chasing me. I ran through the graveyard exit and into the dark forest, the only light provided by the bright moon. The footsteps slowed slightly, and I took the change to speed up even more weaving around the trees. Attempting to stay in the shaded areas to try and loose it. Suddenly the footsteps stopped, my head whipped behind me as I continued to run. It was just standing there, then it got into a running stance. My eyes widened and I pushed me self to run faster. A crack was head and the footsteps were right behind me.
I felt horror and fear fill me as I sprinted out of the woods and onto the highway that separated me from the path to the center. Even at 4 in the morning cars were still zooming along the highway, the cars were mostly lorries and trucks transporting various things. I could hear it behind me and panicked. There was no way I could get across this road. I decided that I couldn’t spot either and took a chance. Running straight onto the highways hearing cars beeping a skidding out the way and they tried not to hit me. I got to the other side just as passengers screamed. They had obviously just spotted it. I continued to sprint following the path to the center.
I heard emergency breaks of a car and then a huge bang. It seems luck was on my side because as I glanced behind, I saw it on the ground motionless with a smashed car besides it. This was my chance, it sprinted as fast as I could. I arrived at the center and burst through the front doors heart beating a million miles and hour. Everybody turned to look at me, they saw the fear in my eyes. I knew they understood when the evacuation alarm was sounded. The children! I ran into the large open room where they played and started helping the workers. I picked one child and grabbed another’s hands, them linking hands with several other children.
Once the building was evacuated and into the bus, the bus took off to the safe house. My head whipped around when I heard running behind me. It was here. Now that I knew they were safe, most of my fear had left me. I turned to face it, staring into the red eyes almost identical to mine, pitch black matted hair, the monstrous features and the blood covered claws attached to its hands.
It looked at me and smiled a disturbing smile.
A loud croaked voice came from it “Hello, Child”
I stared at the ground for a second, thinking over the situation. Then looked back up into its… no his eyes. “Hello…… Father” I replied, “Why are you doing this?”
“Why am I doing this, why am I doing this, why am I doing this” He yelled his voice getting louder with every word. “Because of YOU!”
“W...what” I stuttered, my voice shaking.
He flashed forwards and grabbed me by the shoulders and growled out “The second they created you, from my blood, everything was over, I was shunned and beaten and more like you were created. Half Human and Half monster. Two worlds that were never even meant to meet, no matter become on. So, I’m going to kill you and your kind.”
“what will killing us do, the humans have stopped creating us so why kill innocents”
“It will bring me revenge” he burst out then evil laughter erupted from him.
I have to save them, but how. I can’t beat him. I then saw that we were on the cliff edge and I knew at that moment what I needed to do. I continued to prompt my father slowing turning up, until his back was too the cliffs edge. I glanced behind me and saw a little one, that I had taken care of at the center. I mouthed the words ‘I’m sorry’ and turned back to my father. I sprinted towards him. Propelling both of us off the cliff into the rocks below.

Always with you
I laid in bed staring at the celling, a face almost identical to mine staring back, when my younger brother Tay ran into the room. He jumped onto my stomach and yelled “Get up, get up, It’s your birthday.” I push him off me and get up off my bed, picking him up and stroll down the stairs, knowing she was following. As I reached the bottom of the stairs, I saw my parents standing in the kitchen. “Happy Birthday honey,” my mother said to me as I placed Tay down on a seat and sat next to him, a face only I could see hovering over my mother’s shoulder. My father remained silent as he did every year on this day. As the day went on, my mother attempted several times to get my father to engage in the day, but as normal, he wasn’t having any of it.
As the day came near its end, I stood from my spot with Tay. I turned to my mother and nodded to my mother and walked out of the house. Knowing they were following; I followed the path that had become familiar. As I arrived at my destination, I walked through the gates. When I arrived at the spot, I sat down, pulling my knees up to my chest. I felt a hand on my shoulder as I Traced my hand over the writing, remembering why this day is not a day to be celebrated.
— Ten years ago—
I awoke in a panic. I could feel heat pouring into the room, my room was covered in smoke. Unsure of what was happening, I crept through the smoke, opening my door. Immediately I was met was flames hitting my face, burning me. My body hit the floor with a thud, tears running down my face I felt adrenaline fill my veins. I ran through the flames feeling my body burn. I reached the door across from mine, pulling it open. I ran over to my twin on her bed, shaking her awake. She awoke confused; I pulled her over to the window as the flames chased us. Outside, I saw my dad enter the street, drop the bag he was holding and sprint towards the house.
As my vision blacked out from the pain, I heard my twin yell out, “daddy, daddy, help us!” As a firetruck pulled up outside and firefighters rushed into the house, attempting to put out the flames and get us out. A beam from above us fell, trapping us. My twin hit her head as we fell. I saw blood pool around us. We were trapped for what felt like an eternity until the firefighters reached us. I blacked out as the beam was removed from over us.
A week later, I awoke to beeping machines. I blinked a couple of times, looking around in confusion, could feel gauze covering my entire body and realized that I was in hospital. I saw my dad sitting by the side of my bed and my mother asleep on a chair in the corner. My dad saw that I was awake and yelled for the doctor, “Allison” I croaked out, pleading with my father silently to tell me my twin was okay. My dad looked at me and I watched a tear drop down his face. I may be seven, but I knew at that moment that she was gone. My twin died on the day of our 7th birthday.
--present—
I felt the transparent arms of Allison wrap around me as I stared at her headstone, My father had always blamed himself for what happened, the fire ad started when he had gone down the road to pick up our birthday cake, leaving us alone in the house.
My head snapped up when I felt a dark presence approach. Allison’s Ghostly body moved in front of me as a dark demonic figure moved towards us. I stood yelling, “what do you want?”. A distorted voice came from the creature, “I have come to finish the job, Abigail”. Shocked as realization overcome me, Allison didn’t seem to have come to the same realization as me as a heard her voice for the first time since I was seven say “What do you mean finish the job” Allison floated round to face me and stared me in the eyes.
I replied, “he started the fire, Ali.” Allison’s transparent face seemed to drain of the little color that was there. “Smart child,” the demonic voice said, “the fire was meant to kill you both, but when it didn’t, I knew I had to wait for the right time to finish the job”
That was the last thing I heard before I saw the demonic figure run towards me, then children’s laughter filled my ears, and everything went black…

Truth
I wake up to my alarm blaring, telling me I must get up to suffer yet another day in this cruel world. As I attempt to open my eyes, I’m assaulted by the golden rays of light that steam through my open window. I must have forgotten to close it when I was looking at the moon before bed last night. I roll over once and then another time till my body, wrapped up like a burrito in blankets, hits the floor with a thud.
“Caydence you okay in there?” my mother yells up the stairs.
“Yup I’m fine mum” I yell back, untangling myself and standing, I walk up my closet pulling cloths out of examining them trying to figure out what to wear to the hell that they call school today. I mean, learning is exceptional, but people just aren’t. I decide on a white shirt with a blue sweater to go over it with black trousers. I brush my teeth then pull on my cloths and run down the stairs, grabbing my school back as I go and my stack of homework that Ms. Stanley gave us.
“Hey, happy birthday Hun” my mother says as I enter the kitchen.
Whoops, I knew I was forgetting something. Before I can answer my mother continues “It’s you 16th birthday today do you know what that means”
“Hmm” I start, I’m interrupted by my mother yelling out.
“today’s that day you get your letter from your future self.”
I go through the school day waiting to get home so I could find out what my future self has to say about my future life. When the end of school bells rings, I rush out of the classroom and sprint to my locker, grabbing my bag and slamming the locker door. I push through the crowd of sweaty teens; I start the long walk home. As I near the house, I started to feel nervous; I mean, what if my life in the future is horrible? Well never mind, I don’t think it could get worse.
I open check the post box and pull out the letter with my name written in cursive writing on the front. I unlock the door and put my back down on the floor. Sitting on the barstool, I open the letter.
Inside reads.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Little me
No matter what you do, do not go to this location, please, I’m begging you. 2****′N  1****′W
I’m begging you,
Caydence.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I sit there in shock for several moments before pulling out my laptop out and putting in the coordinate; it shows an abandoned house about 3 km away from my home. I go into the garage, putting the location into google maps. I mean did future me really expect me to just see the letter and just stay at home and do nothing; I mean, come on.
The closer I get to the location of the coordinate, the houses become older and more and more destroyed. I arrive at the location that matched the coordinates.
I get off the bike and walk up to the old building that looks like it’s falling apart. I open the door and see what looks like a house that once homed a family with a young child. There are toys on the floors and plates in the rusted sink. The place looks like whoever lived there one day decided to just up and leave. As I look around, I notice a picture on the shelf next to the old TV. I walk over it and wipe of the dust so I can see the image, as I do this I almost drop the picture in shock, in the picture a younger looking version of my mother I standing with her arms wrapped around a man while he holds a young girl that looks just like me on his shoulders.
I sink to the couch as memory’s overtake me, of the time before I got sick, before my dad died. Memories of running through these very halls as my father chases me, memories of my mother waving a wooden spoon at my father treating playfully to hit him with it if he messes with her cooking again.
Tears run down my face and I stand and run through the house and into a bedroom that looks just like a remember it, the same as I left it the day that I fell ill, the day my father died trying to get to the hospital to comfort his wife and sickly child.
I walk out of the bedroom and into what used to be my parent’s bedroom. On the bed is a diary, curious I walked over it and opened it. As I do out falls an envelope, on the front is my name written in my mother's handwriting. I open it and read the contents. This is what’s written.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My dearest Caydence,
One day you will read this, and you will wonder what happened, how and why did everything change so quickly. Well, let me explain it to you.
As you know you were born a sickly baby, you were born with bone neoplasm, this means that you had a very low survivals rate. It caused problems, but we kept you healthy as we could, but when you where 4 it got worse and we rushed you into the hospital.
You were told that your father had died before this incident because we did not want you to feel like it was your fault but what the police concluded was that your father in his rush to get there to talk with the doctors was in a car accident and didn’t make it out. You were in the hospital for a year. But while it was said that It was an accident that killed your father, it wasn’t, your father was a part of a gang and had a lot of enemy’s and these enemies used the opportunity to kill him to take control of the gang.
During that time I was moved out of the home we lived in my the social workers and put into the home we live in today, I wasn’t able to take anything with me because it was the last place that your father was seen alive before the “accident.”
If you are reading this, then you have found your way back to where it all began.
I love you my little girl
Mum.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As I sobbed the door, the house was opened and in walked my mother, she just took my into her arms and let me sob.

The wishing agent
“Star Light, Star Bright, first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, have this wish, I wish tonight that…”
“Theo, another one came through for you. We might have a problem with this one,” Was yelled through the office.
“Coming... Coming, let me finish sending the last one first will you Tommy.” I yelled back, huffing as I typed in the last few letters and pressed sent. I moved over to the other side of the office and looked up at the wish screen. My eyes widened as I saw the screen, I had never seen a child’s wish like this before, I had dealt with wishes from abused kids, dying kids, missing kids and many weird ones but this, this was something completely different. This child knows things that nobody on earth knows, nobody. I ran over to the screen and turned it to camera, I see a young girl a young girl I knew all too well, her name is Violet Castillo, 7 years old, daughter of Tina and Alfred Castillo who had both died in a hit and run 2 years ago. Violet, with her eyes locked on the camera, slowly moved her hand up and waves.
I looked back at the wish that she made and knew that according to the relegations I had to grant it, even though it went against every other rule in the book. Slowly I stood up and walked through the office door and towards the portal that would take me to earth. Feet echoed, running after me, I knew it was by boss Earl trying to stop me from passing through the portal but I didn’t care.
As I reached the Portal and the worker that runs it, Rhea looked at me and then down at the wish and asked for the location. I repeated the location of the young girl to her and walked through the portal.
Suddenly I was transported into a small house in London, I walked up the stairs and was met with the small face of Violet Castillo looking back at me, “Big Brother” she yelled “I knew you would come I knew you became a wishing agent, just like you used to tell me story’s about when I was little.. before you died… before mommy and daddy died.”
With tears gathering in my eyes, I look down at my baby sister that shouldn’t be able to remember me or the story’s that I used to tell her. Slowly I knelt and opened my arms wide and they were immediately filled with a small body. I stood up with her still in my arms with tears steaming down both of our faces, I turned towards the still open portal and decided that I didn’t care about the rules, I was not leaving her again.
I walk through the portal and hear the yell of “Agent Castillo, how dare you leave and how dare you bring back a child” but I didn’t care. All that matters is that I have got violet back.
And It’s because of her I do…

Alice
Alice ran into the comic book store, shoving through the cluster of bodies and dropping into a corner with her knees drew up to her rib cage. She could feel her heart thumping through her entire body. Suddenly there was a black figure looming over her, she glanced up with dread in her eyes. The first thing she registered was a bright pink blob, as the vision in front of her became clearer she discovered that the bright pink blob really was a lively looking teen girl with an unhappy looking 5 or 6-year-old behind her.
“Hello, I’m sorry to disturb you, I understand that you are experiencing a lousy time, but I really need to go grab something from the chemist next door, you look to be the same age as me and I was wondering if you could watch over my little brother for a couple of minutes,” The pink girl said all at once.
“Sure” Alice responded.
The girl pushed forward her little brother, who curled up into a ball next to Alice and drew out an ancient looking comic. The girl dashed out, bumping into people as she fled.
Alice glanced at the youngster who was clad in old ripped, black cloths that looked to be second or even third hand. The child looked like he hadn’t eaten in days and was noticeably pale and sickly.
“hey kiddo, are you okay, does your parents and sister take care of you?” Alice inquired, suspecting that the Pink Girl and her parents were neglecting the kid.
“Yea…” the boy answered, when abruptly the pink-haired girl came rushing back in.
“I’m back, Kyle come here I’ve brought your prescription, you need to take it or you’ll get sicker,” the girl turned to Alice “Thank you for watching over him, were orphans you see and Kyle has stage 2 leukemia so I have to take care of him while the orphanage tries to pay for the medical bills”
Alice felt awful about judging the girl and the family of the young boy before she understood the situation, especially since the boy was very much like herself she was in so she responded “That’s fine, I actually am here because I just found out that my leukemia has come back and is at stage 4, do you want to come back home with me, we have some doctors that are coming over today to help with some things, I could get one of them to look over Kyle as well.”
“That would be marvelous. My name is Katie, by the way!” Exclaimed the Pink haired girl now identified as Katie.
“My name is Alice, come on follow me” Alice replied and led Katie and Kyle through the streets to her home on the hill.
As the weeks went by, Kyle improved with the help of the doctors that Alice convinced to help. But Alice didn’t she knew her end was near, but at least she helped one little boy and his sister that she had misjudged live a longer life.
