I've stepped up to all your tests and traps. I'm more than willing to look you in the eyes and tell you I'm not afraid of your power, and I don't care for your mercy. To me, you are nothing.

I’m watching old Impulse phasmo streams, and I’m realizing there’s Lore Potential.

Like… the JITS crew started as some college bros just messing around, then something happened that caused a divide. Impulse and Skizz decide to make it into an actual business, and say goodbye to the other two.

Over the years, they get married and have three kids (Grian, Scar, Gem).

They, being broke small family business owners when they have Grian, have no real choice other than to bring him along. They try to hype it up. “Alright bud, you’re gonna be our little man in the van.” It only kind of works.

Grian grows up with the best instincts for the ghosts, because he’s been in the van and occasionally the gopher for so long. He knows what’s up. He also hates the business. Like… he’s the oldest, first in line to take it over, has the best instincts… and he doesn’t really want any part of it. He hates ghost hunting. It scares him. (Too many times when his dads didn’t come back and he had to get home by himself…)

Scar is the middle child. They were less broke, but still broke enough to have to bring the kids. Grian was the little man in the van for a while at this point, and, being the oldest, gets roped into watching his brother. Scar learns nothing; Grian is protective.

Eventually, Gem comes around, and Scar and Gem are left with Tango or others whom Impulse and Skizz have reconnected with, but don’t hunt with anymore. Grian gets actually trained for in-house hunts at this point, with no younger siblings to babysit.

Scar begs to come along eventually. Grian had just managed to convince the dads to let him stay home, but he can’t let his accident prone, space cadet younger brother go by himself, so he sucks it up and goes with.

Scar sucks at hunting. Scar is the most enthusiastic about ghost hunting. Scar is the most likely to take over. Grian sighs, realizing that he’s stuck in this business now. Scar can’t be allowed to take it over by himself.

There are some days with too many hunts for the crew. Impulse and Skizz split off to the more difficult ones, and Grian takes Jimmy and co. with him on the easier ones of the day.

Eventually, Gem gets old enough to come along. Grian pulls every trick in the book to get Scar to stay home, and helps teach his sister himself. He will save one of them if it’s the last thing he does.

Gem ends up not wanting a piece of the family business. Grian sighs in relief. She can have a normal ish life.

Eventually, Grian and Scar take it over. Grian has the best instincts, and Scar has the confidence to walk into any house no matter how scary it is. Gem joins them occasionally, but she didn’t grow up in haunted places. She doesn’t really have the fascination the boys do.

…I didn’t really mean to turn this into a study of how family businesses tend to parentify the oldest sibling, but uh… can you tell what my parents did and who was firstborn? (Whoops)
