You all ever think about Nott and how she saw a mess of a human wizard in prison and decided, yes, I’m going to protect this? I’m going to encourage him and make him learn and grow and be happy? How she told everyone ‘that’s MY boy’?

You all ever think about Nott and about how much she loves Jester’s antics? How she was all muddled when her friend got kidnapped? How she hugged Jester when they found her and whispered ‘Case closed’? How she didn’t want Jester to get in a bar fight because she’s scared she might get hurt?

You all ever think about how she said she didn’t steal from happy people after Molly’s death? How she tried to convince Caleb that their companions were more than a means to an end? That she told him that she loved them?

You all ever think about every time Nott made a comment about the ethics of what the group were doing? That cutting a defeated foe’s hand off and making it decay in front of him was ‘fucked up’? That she didn’t hesitate to throw herself in danger even though she was scared, just to save a child? That she willingly lured a manticore right towards her so a couple of prisoners could escape?

You all ever think about how Nott is scared of the water but was completely ready to go for a midnight swim with Jester just to make her feel a bit better? How’s she’s ready to embrace life on a fucking pirate ship just so they can support Fjord while he tries to find what he’s looking for?

You all ever think about Nott telling the group to run while she tried to lure a bunch of angry Yuan-ti away in the jungle? How she was completely ready to sacrifice herself as long as it meant the rest of her friends could get away?

After a year of watching CR, the cast’s panels and the Between the Sheets interviews… I think I can safely say that the most important lesson I’ve learned from them is how life-changing it can be to surround yourself with good people.

Surround yourself with people who are open and vocal about how much they love and admire you, who call themselves your biggest fan and who are there to support you through your path to greatness.

Surround yourself with people who enjoy their own interests unapologetically, who genuinely seek for the things that will make them happy and who are not restrained by what people will think of them. 

Surround yourself with people who aren’t afraid to show affection through words or physical gestures, who are shamelessly in love with their special other and who see that their love is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Surround yourself with people with healing energy, people who will listen to you attentively, who will offer a helping hand when the world is falling down around you, who will try their best to understand your struggles.

Surround yourself with people that are loud, who aren’t afraid to exist brightly and colorfully, who laugh and cry and have fun and feel with every fiber of their being. 

Most importantly, though, be that kind of person. Put positive energy into the world and you will find it coming back to you. This group of nerds is just a taste of what unapologetic genuine shameless love can accomplish. And I feel grateful every day for the reminder that there’s someone out there who, when you least expect it, will show up and love you and make life a thousand times better.
