So last year (I can’t believe it was last year), @cheatsylu posted art for the LU Gift Exchange. It was a role reversal of Warriors and Mask/Time where Mask/Time was the older brother and Warriors was the literal little brother. Absolutely adorable. Especially when you ignore the implications involving Cia. So my distraction question is this:

How do you think the chain would react to always-little-brother!Warriors and very-protective-big-brother!Time/Mask? Especially the other Links who were kids when they started. Personally, I think Sky would cry. Then he learns about Cia, then he gets pissed. Honestly, all of them would be pissed once they learned about Cia, regardless of Warriors’ age.

In a world where Warriors, like so many others, was a literal child soldier, I imagine Cia's desire to possess the hero likely was a little different, but she still wanted to keep him with her, as in the end, it's heavily implied that what Cia wanted in the long run was a companion who was immortal, or at least who always reincarnated, since as an immortal she was always alone. A child would just mean that he's got longer still to live before she has to go find the next incarnation, y'know? So yeah, still creepy witch lady, but now she's trying to manipulate him into loving her like, maybe as a mother or something (especially since it's quite likely she can't have children and maybe desires that as much as she desires love)

Cue baby Warriors trying to navigate this new world of battles and fighting, but without all the joys and puzzles of dungeons and their cool items and prizes (which I imagine actually softened the lives of many other child heroes because they got to keep their sense of wonder, even if they did have to fight a lot and be scared).

I think he'd be an exceedingly flighty child, and highly distrusting towards any and all adults, much to the chain's distress. That said, in such a world, if Tune and Mask were still part of the war, I think he'd have learned to trust them as he is "big brothers", so meeting Time and learning he's just Mask but all grown up would make it easier for him. He adores Time, and Time adores getting to, sort of, give another kid their childhood back, even if it's just in small ways, like letting Wars' play with his (non-transforming) masks, pulling pranks on the rest of the chain, and running off and exploring together.

I think the chain as a whole would be horrified when they learnt what Wars went through, and given that he's a child, he doesn't have the filters to just... not tell them. once it comes up he's spilling almost everything out there, and Twilight and Sky both had to go wander off and cool off somewhere else lest they frighten him.

As for the other child heroes, I think they'd also be horrified, but not to the same degree. Like, Cia basically was trying to kidnap and adopt him, which is arguably not as bad as being sacrificed or thrown in a dungeon, at least in their minds. Were her methods horrendous? Yes, but their villains did similar, so while they feel bad for the kid, they're not all that shocked, and mostly would try to focus on befriending him and sharing their own experiences instead.

With Wars as a child, I can see all of them doting on him, but especially those who were in similar shoes. like, yes, Sky and Twi would be trying to big brother, but they would very much be overpowered by the squad of former child heroes who know both how this works and what is needed and now have experience on both sides of the situation, and so can handle everything a bit better.

Wild and Rule are teaching Wars about what it means to leave the path, to wander, to explore, something he wasn't allowed to do because it made him vulnerable to attack, and going anywhere without clear directions and a guardian is very new to him.

Legend's so ready to teach him about puzzles and dungeons and cool new items, and just let him go ham with trying new things.

Four introduces him to the Minish, tells him all their stories and watches the wonder spark in his eyes for the first time in years

Wind and time are just glad to see their little brother cutting loose for once, and they're there to support and encourage his forreys into the world of wonder that the rest are offering him.

I think Twi and Sky would be very protective and wary about letting him get up to stuff, just trying to keep him safe, but it would very much just remind him of being back home and under surveillance all the time "for his own protection" so he'd be cagey around them and less willing to connect until they ease up (which Time ensures that they do, eventually)

So yeah! That's how I think that'd go!

op turned off reblogs so the correction i made cant be reblogged, so im making a new post, mostly just repeating what i said. tl;dr:

google docs is not randomly deleting peoples work for being nsfw. there is no evidence at all that you are at risk of having google delete your fics for having "inappropriate" content.

this article by the wired is the only "source" op has ever provided. i would very very much recommend both reading the entire article and looking at the linked posts in it for yourself. it is also self-admittedly the only source they've ever found - so keep that in mind. it's about k. renee, an open door romance novelist who had her work restricted by google. "open door romance" refers to works where sex scenes happen on screens and are described in detail. they are explicit works. the article talks about similar things happening to a few different authors who write in the same genre.

the incidents described in this article happened in march 2024, which is over a year ago.

those affected had their works restricted, with a warning message. they were not abruptly deleted out of no where. authors were able to file appeals with google to recover their docs, though i havent found any updates on if they were successful in doing so.

the reason this happened is because google docs incorrectly flagged the shared documents as spam.

That author later posted a video to Instagram explaining that it wasn’t the adult content in the files but rather “Google thought I was spamming people.” Apparently, sending the same doc to scores of people—for example, alpha and beta readers—can make it appear as though the doc was unsolicited.

sharing a document that contains "adult content" with a lot of people will trigger google's automod, but the adult content itself is not the problem. if you are sharing a doc with a handful of people, or arent sharing it at all, this is not going to happen. from my own personal testimony, i have dozens and dozens of explicit, nsfw work in my google docs that ive shared with people, and none of them have been touched. i have not seen a single claim with proof that anyone's work has been deleted in the manner the original op describes.

there is no source at all for original op's claim that google is "using AI to find inappropriate and problematic content". in the above article (again, the only source), ai is mentioned once, to say that k. renee had ai functions turned off and did not think that was the problem.

Renee hadn’t turned on any of the AI functions in Google Workspace, so she doubted it could be chalked up to a bot banning her books. After all, a 2016 paper coauthored by Google researchers revealed that its recurrent neural network language models had been fed thousands of romances. If for some reason a bot was crawling her work, wouldn’t it recognize what it was looking at?

and, lets just think logically for a moment. if google docs was doing some sort of mass cleans of nsfw content using ai, dont you think it would be a more widespread story? would it be this hard to find sources and testimony about it? google docs has literally millions of users, including published authors and scientists and academics. if an ai bot was crawling works and deleting any it deemed nsfw, it would be mainstream news because it would be affecting countless people. and especially without disclosing a change in policy beforehand? they would probably get sued for it!

i am not making this post in defense of google, god forbid. google is open about the fact that they use any "publicly available" information to train their ai models (and did get sued for it), though they claim that they dont take from docs that they dont have permission to. i honestly, genuinely, cannot tell you the veracity of these claims or how serious the scraping is. like, i just do not know if google scrapes from private gdocs. if someone knows more and has better sources they are free to add on to the post.

but i want it to be clear that google docs is not going to randomly delete your works for having nsfw content. docs and pages disappear sometimes because google docs is a mess. you should always back up your files locally (switching to programs like ellipsus doesnt make your work safer, per se, as ellipsus is still cloud-based), and you should consider switching away from google docs if youre staunchly anti-ai, but they are not going to abruptly explode all your fics. that is simply not happening. you do not have to panic.

The 2025 Gender Census is now open!

The 12th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 30th August 2025.

It’s short and easy, for most participants it takes 5 minutes or less.

After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.
