Can we trust WhatsApp founder?

Well, it's been almost three months since FaceBook bought WhatsApp. With FaceBook sharing private information for advertising purposes, is there any difference with WhatsApp? WhatsApp founder Jan Koum has reassured users that privacy is a core principle and FaceBook would never change that. But, can we really believe him? After all FaceBook spend $19bn on WhatsApp. They've got to have plans for it. Only time will tell.

Unexpected

Story Idea A stubborn, loud-mouth 28 year old has just found out that she has lung cancer. As she ends her phone conversation with her doctor, she admires the pictures of her family and friends in disbelief. Behind her is a coffee table with up to 32 empty Marlboro packets, three ash-trays and a couple of lighters.

Story Outline Katrina, a stubborn, loud-mouthed and bossy 28 year old high-flying executive paces up and down inside her plush “Paris-end” of Collins Street office. She has just received a telephone call from her GP, Doctor Feelgood. He telephoned Katrina to inform her that her test results confirm she has Stage 3 inoperable lung cancer. In utter disbelief and obvious shock at this bizarre outcome, she looks with anguish at the framed photos of her family and best friends that sit neatly next to her personal computer. Behind Katrina is an antique coffee table with up to 32 empty deluxe Marlboro packets, three mahogany ash-trays, and a couple of lighters. However, she has not smoked a single cigarette since she sneaked behind the gymnasium at lunch time to satisfy a Year 7 dare to try a “fag” back in secondary school. Moreover, those Malboros were smoked by Katrina’s father when he dropped in fifteen minutes before. Resisting the urge to become faint, she realizes that the test results may have been confused. Same last name, same South Yarra address, same Doctor. Dad has lung cancer. The shock returns.

Story Idea

Mean and boastful Aaron caught up in the idea of ‘sleeping with as many women as he can’ has more female friends than male on Facebook.  His girlfriend problem chats with her best friend, Veronica, turns out to be surprising.

  Story outline

Aaron is a 30 year old who uses social media to display excessive pride and self-satisfaction about his achievements, possessions and ability to hook up with any woman. And he does all of this behind Anita, his girlfriend of 13 months. She’s disgusted and hurt as she walks out on him after discovering his secret. Veronica, her best friend happens to be on his chat-list as he searches the web hoping to find something or anything that could bring some comfort to his guilty soul. He pours out his reckless blameworthy story to Veronica in hopes that she would understand him.  As he asks why she was taking 5 minutes to reply him, he receives a Whats App massage from her. Veronica tells him of how she is not only Anita’s best friend but her lover as well. Gob smacked he sits starring at his once life giving, fun and exciting iPhone 5 as if he was a piece of dead wood.

Film-TV 1: QUESTION 1

By the end of this semester, I want to be able to use as many filming and audio props as I can. Acquire skills that will enable me to critically contextualize ideas. I also, want to analyze and solve some media problems.

I do not know how to use  Adobe Premier, so, I would love to know how to use it. With this software, I want to be good at using almost all it's tools.

I think theories that are related to media would be really good for me to have some knowledge about, therefore, I would like learn a couple of theories by the end of this semester.
