Listen to me physdisabled people who like to make home cooked food. Your body doesn't care if you used a mixer with a dough hook to knead that dough or pasta. Your body doesn't care if you used a dicer or mandoline slicer to cut those veggies. Your body doesn't care if that fruit was bought pre-cut. You're still getting all the physical benefits of home cooked food and you shouldn't rob yourself of the mental benefits because you took a different route to get to the same end result. Recipes were made to be completed by an able-bodied person. You're not "failing" at making home cooked meals, you're adapting a hobby that wasn't made with you in mind.

Pangur's eyes are actually pretty neat, because she comes from a line of white and pointed cats that have been selectively bred to have the bluest possible eyes!

blue in eyes is caused by structural colouration, rather than pigment (aka the physical structure of the iris reflects blue)

the intensity of colour varies quite a lot. on one end of the spectrum, there are icy eyes that appear almost white

and on the other end, there are cats like Pangur's mother, Lily. her blue was so intense that it looked unreal, even in person.

with albinism, you have an inability to produce pigment, but the structural colour remains.

in cats with weak structural colour, this results in pale pinkish eyes, like those of Stoli here

and in cats like Pangur, who have been selectively bred for the bluest blue? you get violet

FWIW, "mauve" was one of the coal-tar dyes developed in the mid-19th century that made eye-wateringly bright clothing fashionable for a few decades.

It was an eye-popping magenta purple

HOWEVER, like most aniline dyes, it faded badly, to a washed-out blue-grey ...

...which was the color ignorant youngsters in the 1920s associated with “mauve”.

(This dress is labeled "mauve" as it is the color the above becomes after fading).

They colored their vision of the past with washed-out pastels that were NOTHING like the eye-popping electric shades the mid-Victorians loved. This 1926 fashion history book by Paul di Giafferi paints a hugely distorted, I would say dishonest picture of the past.

Ever since then this faded bluish lavender and not the original electric eye-watering hot pink-purple is the color associated with the word “mauve”.

tbh I kind of don't want a second cat, I like focusing on Piggy and I think she likes having more of my time. I was talking to my dad about forgoing a second cat or a waiting like 6 months after I move and he kind of brought me back down to earth that Piggy is still young and I would be denying her proper enrichment if she had no people or animals to play with. I'm just too tired for fishing pole toys, laser pointers aren't satisfying for her, and I've yet to find an automatic toy that's safe and durable. I throw balls for her if she wants me to but it's not a substitute for true interactive play. I'm not worried about them getting along or about the extra work involved in a second cat (it's not that much work to add a 2nd, really), but Piggy is kind of a pushover with other cats so I'm worried she won't get the level of attention she wants from me if the other cat ends up being cuddly, too.

To be clear, Piggy is a very well behaved girl but she gets bored easily. The second cat is so that she doesn't become a noise nuisance to me and potentially any neighbors by screaming for me to play with her when I'm too tired to. I don't expect a landlord to understand this so if they don't I'm just going to go over their head and do it anyway. It's what's best. I wouldn't be doing it if it was just me wanting another cat because I wanted one, I feel like that would be taking advantage of ESA laws.

When I was younger and researching the autism diagnosis criteria and symptoms, I thought “oh I couldn’t POSSIBLY be autistic.” Because when I read “takes everything literally” I thought it literally meant EVERYTHING and I was like “I don’t take EVERYTHING literally, just most things!” And I just realized the other day that it didn’t actually mean EVERYTHING and that was an overstatement.

I think the term Dinner Dance has far overhyped what it actually is. But his circles grow more frantic the longer it takes for me to prepare his dinner. And I usually have to leave the room and come back several times bc I’ve forgotten one of his numerous meds or a spoon or something

couldn't relate less to other LSN/level 1 autistic people who are like "people always say I don't seem autistic". People clock me as a freak before I even open my mouth

I thought about that but I kind of intended the top patch to invoke that biker jacket look where they have the name of whatever group they're a part of (I think it's called a top rocker?). I might still do it though, but I'll probably wait until I have a second patch to put on the other side so it's not super asymmetrical.

Ok question about my battle vest

The dandelion "live out of spite" patch isn't sewn on yet. I was planning to put a patch that looks like a spine down the middle, but I kind of like having the dandelion instead so it's visible when I'm in my chair.
