What if I tell you that the ending of the original Lilo and Stitch was important because Nani fighting tooth and nail for custody over Lilo takes place against a history of the separation of Indigenous families? What if I tell you that the ending of the original Lilo and Stitch was important because it shows that Nani was not inherently a bad guardian, just a young overwhelmed woman who needed a support system and not punishment (just like many families esp Black and Brown single mothers do)?
And then Disney spat upon that ending for the live action remake?
#its genuinely so insidious to take a story about an indigenous woman fighting tooth and nail to keep her family together#and then completely invert the message.#Nani studying MARINE BIOLOGY in fuckin CALIFORNIA is... such a choice. such a deliberate and obvious choice#they might as well have just explicitly said 'Give up your kids and leave your homeland so we have room for more resorts thx'#lilo and stitch

i'm really thinking about it and i don't think there's any other way for severance to have a happy ending besides polyamory

Honestlyyyy I’m so delighted that Severance of all shows gave us representation of the specific queer experience of thinking you might be getting invited into a threesome and then discovering you’re instead going to hear about Christianity

The absolute power move of Dropout changing their price (by a single dollar) for new and returning subscribers and not the folks already paying for the service???
And the fact that they made the announcement with enough time for people to subscribe at the current price before the increase takes affect if they wanted???
Sam you’re the only sorta rich boy I respect
#dropout tv#dimension 20#surprise im a dropout nerd too#but yeah i love them for this. their entire business model and their transparency is so delicious in streaming hell-world#also ive seen people joking about cancelling and resubscribing because they *want* to pay more. may i remind you they have merch#just grabbed the Ayda statue :D (which I technically already bought but they sent me the Box Of Doom on accident but i emailed them about it#and they let me keep it! without charging me more!)#great folks. great shows. cool merch. genuinely my favorite folks on the internet and the only streaming service i genuinely like

I truly appreciate Doctor Odyssey's commitment to saying 'We can never Jump the Shark if we just start out in season one full-tilt with Battling Orcas'
#doctor odyssey#dare i say its camp. it feels like a deliberate parody on so many tropes from various drama shows#its so fun and stupid

as we’ve seen so far on severance, dan erickson and the writing team have really been leaning on themes and plot lines that satisfy certain storytelling motifs in unique ways, such as the concept of “what is the self” told from the point of view of someone whose consciousness is split in half. so, if we follow the through line, we can see that it would be too simple, too predictable if mark ended up with helly or gemma. you know what type of storyline we rarely get to see, and on top of that, that we get to see done well? polyamory. and this is how markhellygemma can still win

Every time they say some random machine or medical device that they probably wouldn’t have on a cruise ship I think about how Max brought a bunch of new machines when he came on the ship and Avery and Tristan were annoyed at him for showing off and being fancy.
#i also love this as like. a way for the writers to hand-wave any 'why do they have that' questions.#max brought a bunch of weird shit. next question.#doctor odyssey#max bankman#tristan silva#avery morgan

I love bimbos on boats the show it's so fucking bonkers. they have themed weekly cruises. yeah normal things like plastic surgery. where to? don't know doesn't matter don't think about it. don johnson is there AND hes the captain. there are 34 separate things going on at all times. plastic surgery addicted ken doll guy died. and right before joshua jackson understood the concept of bisexuality at that. a girl licherally did so much coke her nose FELL!!!!!!!!!! OF!!!!!!! while leisurely chilling at the pool. they had to improvise a none skin graft solution because someone's tits were necrotic from frostbite. need i remind u that they are on A CRUISE SHIP. they only have three characters there is no plot no supporting cast no nothing. just a possible threesome and a dream.

I think the reason Doctor Odyssey is so great is because all of the plotlines (both the personal melodrama of the characters and the actual medical emergencies) feel like the kind of plotlines that a show would usually only pull out like ten seasons after the show has already run it's natural course but Doctor Odyssey has had that manic, this-might-as-well-happen energy since episode 1 like what do you mean we're getting zombie apocalypse, appendectomy in a hurricane, shark attacks, syphillis epidemic, threesome in the suicide episode, John Stamos with auto-brewery syndrome, pregnancy, exploratory surgery with no blood antibiotics or power, accidental straight couple on the gay cruise, butch lesbian assists in an impromptu double amputation, and Angela Bassett and we're barely halfway through SEASON 1.
Amazing. Beautiful. 10/10. Usually we have to wait like ten years of actual real life to get this kind of quality bullshit.
#they're speedrunning all the tropes and im here for it. called auto-brewery syndrome because so many medical shows pull that#they know what theyre doing here and i respect it#doctor odyssey

Most unrealistic part of this episode so far is that anyone is even trying to call it “Sophisticated Ladies” week. If I was working that charter you could not get me to stop saying Cougar Cruise.

i never thought i would hear don johnson say "serves the house down boots, mama!" before embracing a drag queen, meeting his brother's two boyfriends, and talking about the concept of polyamory with phillipa soo, but here we are
