Have you by any chance seen someone on Twitter posting a translated version of Xiangli Yao's daily schedule? How about writing something like what his schedule would be with the reader (already in a relationship) maybe on a day off? Something like: 8:00 AM - get up and start day 10:00-12:00 AM snuggled in bed with y/n as a result. Or - 4:00 PM - prosthetic maintenance. ambushed from behind. (Imagine nuzzling him from behind while he tinkers with his hand 🥺) Something like a bunch of small drabbles in 1 work? I guess finding someone to write for him awakened something in my brain, I'msorry.
A/n: I have heard of this schedule but tbh I didn't see it myself before I got this request lol, I really find the idea sweet so I hope I did it justice! And no need to apologize, I am happy to write for Xangli Yao

Saturday:
08:30 - Wake up
It’s been many years since Xiangli Yao has practiced this continuous cycle of waking up at certain times, to the point he did not need an alarm clock anymore. It was 8:14 when he came to his senses, morning light sleeping through the blinds and softly caressing his eyelids to open. He turns away from them, shifting sluggishly underneath the blankets, knowing that work wasn’t waiting on him today.
He is greeted by your sleeping face, relaxed and soft as the few spots of light from the blinds danced over your cheeks and lips. The light didn’t seem to disturb you, something he was thankful for as he shuffled closer and wrapped his good arm around you, bringing you closer to his warmth as he nuzzled his nose into the top of your head, breathing in your scent as your hair tickled his skin. He feels you mold into his shape, your sleep heavy arm going underneath his and over his side, the blanket keeping your shared warmth trapped, shielding you from the chilly morning.
09:30 - make breakfast with my beloved :)
Well, it may have been 9:10 by the time you both willed yourself to leave the comforts of eachothers arms. It was hunger that pulled you both from bed, stumbling into the bathroom. Xiangli Yao was next to you as you washed your face while he brushed his teeth. He handed you your toothbrush after you blindly found the towel next to the sink and brushed your face dry.
Although he had gotten used to being the one to prepare breakfast for both of you during workdays, the weekends did allow more time, and so Yao did try to listen to you more when you said you wanted to help or do more of the work since you don’t usually get the chance to do so. He did convince you some times before, letting you so simply sit aside and look pretty while he whips you up your favorite, but today wasn’t that day. You woke up with more energy and a craving for good quality time and to get your hands busy.
What ends up happening is a table full of food, a big but balanced breakfast of veggies and fruit and needed protein. While you were setting up the table, Xiangli Yao poured you both the juice you made the weekend. He may not think about it too often, but he always feels like the richest man in the world when he shares mornings like these with you.
13:00 - go to the market, restock groceries
His prosthetic arm is holding the basket while the fingers of his other hand are intertwined with yours. Xiangli Yao was yet to become truly used to these public displays of affection, but he never disliked them. The thing was that such little acts of affection flustered him so much at first and he’d rather not catch someone ogling him while his cheeks are red as the tomatoes you were looking at now. He was used to it, he tells himself as he slowly lets your fingers slip from his hold when you say you can use some of the tomatoes. He remembers you mentioning a recipe some time ago that required a good amount of tomatoes. He helps you pick out the best ones and he adds it to the basket after the purchase is done. Although today’s shopping trip ended with more bags than either of you expected, Xiangli Yao vehemently refused to  allow you to carry any of the bags.
You ended up stopping at the local dessert shop, purchasing a few sweet goods for home. You mentioned how the chocolate cake he got looked oddly similar to Xiang-LEE. Now he couldn’t unsee it..
16:00 - prosthetic maintenance(p.s. keep your back guarded!)
How oddly homely it felt to have your arms around him while he tinkered away on his mechanical arm..
Although at first you only observed him from the doorway, he chose to skillfully ignore you when you began to sneak closer, almost as if he couldn’t see you from the corner of his eye.
You knew he knew too, but it's a game you both chose to play every evening when the sun began to lean in to kiss the mountains.
You hum as you put your chin on top of his head, peering down at the assortment of open wires and metal plating scattered about on the table. There's a screwdriver in his good hand, and he's clearly doing something, but you're unsure what. Perhaps you'd ask one day, tell him to explain how his arm really works, but that is not today.
He feels you leaning in and kissing his cheek and then his temple.
“The meal is soon to be done. Don't keep me waiting all alone at the table, Xiangli Yao”
19:00 - Free activities
Xiangli Yao can't help the chuckle that escapes him as he witnesses your scowl and furrowed brows, and all for the little board game with black and white pieces. You've won the round from last night and he deemed it appropriate to ask for a rematch, although he only wished to make you blow off the steam. You've been rather stressed this week, perhaps some back and forth of the game could allow a reprieve.
“You've been thinking about your next move for quite some time now, my love…” he tries, a smile plastered on his lips, both amused and sympathetic.
“...I got it…shh” you return, pushing your chin into the heel of your palm. He hums in response, and another few heartbeats of silence pass before he sees your face light up, as if a star had whispered the next act into your ear. Your fingers deftly move across the board and move your piece across the checkerboard.
“Checkmate!”
He laughs, his chest shaking with joy as you beam at him. You beat him. Again.
22:30 - bedtime
Mornings are where Xiangli Yao thrives. He is a morning person to the last bone in his body and on work days it is not rare for him to rise before you and his alarm, but they don’t bring him nearly as much relief and joy as bedtime does. Your sleepy face as you go to brush your teeth and change into your bedwear always has his heart softening, his own movements slowing down as his entire body yawns for the comforts of the mattress and comfortable blankets.
He is sitting at the edge of the bed, tinkering with his prosthetic arm for the last time and setting it aside on the table right next to his side of the bed. His prosthetic is cold and rather uncomfortable to sleep with for both of you. From behind he hears you exiting the bathroom and the sound of your bare feet against the floor hurrying up has him turning around to see how you crash into the bed, your face buried into your pillow with a low groan, a breath of relief as weight is taken off your feet.
He shuffles, telling you to get under the blankets while he turns off the lights. Once he remembered you both joking about being afraid of the dark, and although it was all just a joke - Xiangli Yao has been the one to turn off the lights since then.
He hums as he returns, sliding under the blankets and finding the warmth of your body with searching fingers, pulling himself closer until he was wrapped around you. He buries his nose into your hair, inhaling your scent before laying a lingering kiss to your cheek, bidding you goodnight.

Midnight thought that popped into my head… If you watched Spirited Away, do you remember a bunch of little black soot balls that carried coal around? What if the reader also works at the academy and has made herself a bunch of those little robots to fetch tools when she needs them? Imagine working on something with these little goofballs running around, making high-pitched robot noises and being useful at the same time, what a dream. The second part is, what if some of them started running to Xiangli Yao's office (and Academy too) to get tools (screwdrivers, hammers, etc.) because they couldn't find them in our office due to some errors (or some other reason)? Which led to a funny little investigation of missing items? Honestly saw it as already established relationship, but could be used as push-to-confession maybe? Can definitely see something like this: -My little babies would never steal! -Your… babies? -Erm, never mind…
Honestly, use this however you like if you do, the possibilities are endless and fun, no matter how you twist it, I have just come up with an example.
A/n: this was awfully sweet, but even with that I didn't imagine it would turn out this long. I do hope this is what you had in mind. I really enjoyed writing this. And hey, first Xiangli Yao fic! Yipeeee

Little pitter-patters of feet echo down the empty corridor, the sound accompanied by the low mechanical buzz that could be said to be a coo or a call. Xiangli Yao had yet to get used to the new tiny companions around the Academy, although they made for an endearing sight when they got together to work. Xiangli Yao steps to the side of the corridor, slowing down his step as he notices a few Aideroids rush past diligently, carrying a few empty petri dishes, box of gloves and some unlabeled material samples. He tilted his head as they passed by, clicking and clacking without paying him any mind, like a line of ants as they made it straight for their queen - you. It would seem that the confusion of the recent incidents at the Academy have rubbed off on the Aideroids as well, otherwise known as Assistive Intelligence Droids, judging by how scattered they seemed after your own office has been subjected to a little... disaster, to put it plainly. It has pushed you to share an office with your colleague until the renovations are done, and while you had adjusted well, the little droids would always stop by the old office or by his own next to yours before finding you at last.
Xiangli Yao admired them and once he had run into a droid in the corner of his office that had gone down due to battery problems. He had fixed it up for you then. The droids weren’t admirable by looks alone, but by their design as well with their creator behind them. Although they seemed to be a nuisance of a sight for Mortefi, even he commented on their usefulness. The only thing everyone was against was to make them capable of flight. You agreed that the sight of so many droids buzzing about wouldn’t be quite comfortable.
He continued on into his office, looking over the report he had yet to finish, one he was looking forward to writing out. The half done pages reeked of promise and satisfaction, as they would come to represent the best part of the job in Xiangli Yao’s eyes. The end, the fruits of his labor. He hummed something low in his throat as he glimpsed an error in his grammar, making a mental note to fix it up later as he swung the door open and closed it behind it, failing to notice that the door had been creaked open already. Muscle memory brings his feet to his desk, and as he goes to put his papers down he is greeted by several singular eyes looking up at him, all scattered on and around his desk. He blinks at them in surprise, and for a moment they mirror his confusion and shock in equal measure, but as no command or response comes from his mouth, they swiftly return to their ‘work’ at his tools. One Aideroid was carrying the rubik's cube he liked to keep in his office, oftentimes fidgeting with it when he came into a slump during work hours. The Aideroid chucked it over the edge of the desk with a ‘kahooo’ and another similar sound came from below, where another droid caught the cube. Another droid was already halfway to the door with screwdrivers and small container of oil he uses to treat his prosthetic arm - had the door been unlocked, the little droid would have managed to escape the office with Yao’s belongings.
“Hey, hey, hey- now, little friend. It seems you have plans for my things-” he speaks to the droid with a light laugh in his tone as he manages to pluck back the oil and screwdrivers from its clasping hands before it could truly clasp down. “Has Miss. (L/N) been in such desperate need of oil that she sends you to take mine?”
The droid looks up at him and the lenses of its eye narrow and zoom in on the towering figure of Xiangli Yao, yet, ever loyal and determined to assist you, the droid lets out a disgruntled beeping sound, almost like a little howl. Its arms stretched upward, waiting for the tools to be given back to its hold.
“Ah, no, my friend. I’m afraid I cannot give you these back” he says and turns towards the desk just as the droid carrying his cube walks by, and Yao swiftly takes the cube back as well, and then the microscope from the next droid, and a few pencils from the next few. By the time he’s up to his desk again, he feels as if he went through an attempted robbery, his arms full of his things and behind him he hears several voices of dissatisfied and demanding droids. He holds onto his lighthearted demeanor, a gentle and amused smile plastered over his lips as he sets back his belongings on his desk and back onto the shelves. “Miss. (L/n) would not want you to rob her colleagues, would she now? I know you don’t like returning to her with empty arms, but I can’t be giving you my own research and tools so easily” he tells the droids as if they’re a bunch of kids and for a moment he expects to be greeted with more protests as the droids all but stare at him in grave silence. Thankfully they do not pose more verbal danger, and scatter to climb onto one another and skillfully open the door before moving out again. Xiangli Yao can only stare at the space they occupied, still trying to acknowledge what has just happened. He was about to shake the thoughts of before he remembered the droids he passed in the corridor, now realizing the tools and materials they carried were his.
______________________________________________________
Black bolded letters lined every page, and page after page you scanned the book for the chapter you needed to fuel your brain for power which you desperately needed for this experiment. You sigh in disappointment as you find the chapter of your favorite book ripped out, leaving the next chapter as some distant tale you were yet to understand. You close the book with a thump and push it aside, returning to another set of letters on your research paper and the propped up tubes and test tubes and cylinders before you. Testing biological matter and the effects of the Waveworn Phenomena on them came with its limitations, but for all of those you managed to achieve quite a few breakthroughs in the last few years.
You found yourself just short of other achievements, it was just an arms reach away yet you were stuck. Not understanding where you began to go over the same papers again, going through numbers, chemical formulas and the hypothesis at the start, but the important puzzle piece was yet to be revealed to your mind. The sound of small feet do not alarm you as they buzz behind you and move about the office. They came and went the entire day, bringing you your torn book and some other less important things at the moment, yet you acknowledged their need to be of help- it was in their code. Just like animals which flee or fight naturally when confronted with danger, the Aideroids wanted to help when confronted with your frown and furrowed brows. They knew something was amiss, so by bringing you all the tools and materials you previously praised them for, their droids’ minds hoped to see and hear the praise once more to know their daily task had been fulfilled. Yet, the last few days have been filled with your stagnant moods with not a sweet word in sight. The loss of the comforts of your own office was palpable even with the adjustments you’ve made - nothing can beat having your own space to do with as you please.
Your head hands low over the papers, forehead resting on your clasped palms as you let your eyes close. Searching for the answer deep in your mind, you fail to see the way forward and your mind swiftly wanders to imagery of the open fields, summer days and your favorite food stalls. Aideroids made their way up the side of your desk, carrying the microscope between them in their strong little arms, and as they set it before you with a small thump, you looked up to see it, a look of confusion falling over your eyes. “Now, why have you brought me this, AIDE?” you ask the droid group who coo at you in unison. “I already have a functional microscope..” you added, sighing at their attempt to assist you with no success. But before you can reprimand them and ask whose microscope they’ve taken, you see more of the droids climb up the desk with a glove box and unmarked materials sealed in small boxes. At that you were a bit more alarmed. Sitting up straight in your chair you feel a wave of anxiety come over you as you’re made to guess whose research they just snagged up with no pardon. “AIDE, where did you get this?” you asked as you took one of the sample bags one of the droids offered you. You carefully unpacked it and took a quick look inside, a bit more relieved to find it was only dirt samples from god knows where. But the other baggies held materials you weren’t trying to mess with, judging by their looks alone through the translucent bag.
The droids coo and click, and on your watch monitor you can see the transcribed text that they were trying to convey.
‘Xiangli Yao’s office, Baizhi’s office’.
You had to physically stop yourself from face palming at the sentence. Your little helpful companions resorting to stealing from your fellow colleagues, one of them a renowned genius? You thank god that most of them have already left the Academy for the day, and others were on break.
“Please, give the rest of those to me… I’ll have to give you another code input, this can’t happen again - you can’t just take other people’s belongings” you gently scold while the many pairs of eye just look at you, mechanically blinking and adjusting their lenses as they try to comprehend why you didn’t like what they’ve done. You have already gathered the things they took, carefully cradling the items in your arms as you tell them to stay in the office while you go and return them - hoping to also clear your mind with this brisk walk.
You turn the corner from your current office, closing the door behind you and your mind is running, hoping your droids haven’t done any damage, even if you have put all the necessary codes into their system that avoided damaging things, but who's to say they can’t malfunction or accidentally push somethin or-
“Ah! Xiangli Yao!” you nearly squeal as you run into him when you turn to go down the corridor leaning to his office, and like a kid caught with their hand in the candy jaw, you flush with items that are obviously his in your arms. You take a few steps back to put a more professional and comfortable distance between the two of you. You swallow the lump in your throat, hoping the warmth you felt wasn’t as visible on your skin as you imagined it to be.
“Ah, Miss (L/N), it is you, and with quite an interesting assortment of things in tow” Yao greeted back, his eyes quickly catching on to the items in your hold, a warm smile pulling on his lips. “I was just about to pay you a visit. It would seem your Aideroids have been up to some mischief as of recent”
“Mischief?” you countered almost instantly, and be it fatigue or the knowledge that the droids weren’t mischievous by their nature, you almost took it as an insult. “Oh, you misunderstand. They aren’t mischievous, Xiangli Yao. They just.. need some code tuning” you added with a stubborn shake of your head, holding the items closer to your torso.
“Oh? And is that why they have resorted to taking my things without being given permission beforehand?” Yao retorted, his voice a warm honey. Was he teasing you?
You couldn’t muster up a laugh, your lips pressing together in a tight line out of some nervousness for feeling so cornered. “Xiangli Yao..” you began, sighing as you nearly trailed off - he had his point, yet you couldn’t let your little droids be subjected to any form of insults, even in jest! “That doesn’t mean they’re mischievous. Although their objective is flawed in execution, something I’ll have to fix later, I assure you they did not mean to deprive you of your own ability to conduct your work. This is why I have come to return your belongings by myself and.. apologies on their behalf - although the fault is also mine own for not having foreseen such a thing happening with them” you told him, nearly rushing through the entire sentence. “AIDE has told me some of these materials are also from Baizhi. Do you mind taking back the ones that are yours?”
Xiangli Yao looks on at you, letting you speak and he nods at the question. Did this make you so riled up, or was it him? He had to admit, he felt rather weak in his word arsenal now. This has in no way ruined his day, nor has he meant any offense to you with his quips. The interaction it all led to between the two of you felt sweet to his heart, as most encounters between the two of you during the day felt almost artificial, all work no soul chatter which he found himself craving to have with you. And both of you needed solo time to recharge, but now it felt like there was emotion behind it, there was a heart. Yao wasn’t about to simply let it go to waste. But what does he say to make you more at ease?
“Of course. Here, why don’t you come to my office, I’ll also help you sort the other items out that belong to Baizhi afterwards” he offered as he took back his things, and also some more to lighten your load as some seemed at the point of slipping past your fingers. “Your droids are quite skilled to unlock doors previously locked - have you taught them to pick at locks?” he asked, his tone genuine as well as he recalled an occasion where he overheard Mortefi complaining to you about AIDE ‘breaking into his office’.
You sigh at the memory. “No. I have not taught them any of that. Their objectives and codes only revolve around listening to my orders and helping me work, I genuinely don’t know where they got it to pick locks..” you tell him as you walk side by side to his office. His presence felt as if he was pressed right against your side, even if there was comfortable space between you, or perhaps that was just you overthinking the situation. Xiangli Yao’s company was always welcome, you wished your paths crossed more often during work, but alas..
“Admirable, really” Yao comments, looking up ahead and hastening his step to open the door with his elbow, leaving it wide open for you. You walk in and you can already tell AIDEs has been through here. Xiangli Yao sets down the items he had in his arms, returning the ones that belonged to him to their right place.
“Have..have they damaged anything of yours?” You cautiously asked as you looked around, almost expecting to see broken glass or torn papers.
“Oh no, they've done no harm. They were quite adamant on taking my things, however” he chuckles. “The group that I encountered in my office even wished to scold me for not allowing them to take the items back to you. Kahooting at me and beeping, heh. They even picked up the oil for my prosthetic” he said as he turned back to look at you, noticing how your brows curled in a worried expression, the cogs and wheels turning so loud he could nearly hear them from where he stood.
You sigh for the nth time, your shoulders slumping as you shake your head. “I'm really sorry for this, they really aren't like this. I'm assuming that the loss of my office, which was coded as their own ‘HQ’  , impacted them more than I imagined. They wouldn't do any of this otherwise “ You adjust the few small items in your arms, the sample bags stacked on top.
Xiangli Yao hums in acknowledgement. “I understand that. Thankfully, that is an easy fix until your office is done and ready for use again. I often see the little guys lingering in front of the locked doors of the office.. makes me think they’re rather sentimental about the place” he nodded thoughtfully, and as he talked he approached you again, taking the items from you even after you tried to give a word of protest.
“Although, I also have a suspicion it is not just the loss of their ‘HQ’ that is making them behave like this” Yao added as he motioned towards the door again, having you walk out first. You did as he requested, but you closed the door behind him before he could try to. You look at him quizzically, brows furrowed in confusion.
“What do you mean?”
“Well..the droids’ objective is to help you reach an end in your research or daily tasks, yes? Have you perhaps not been able to reach an end of your work that the droids' could physically see? This is just my hypothesis but..uhh..” he trails off as he notices the weight of your stare, his eyes going back to the path ahead, focusing on going to Baizhi’s office. Was he being too prodding?
You couldn't deny that his words held some water, but a part of you wasn't ready to simply say what you thought. The AIDE were a bunch of robots you created, scraps of metals and wires, and giving them any form of sentimental intelligence aloud felt wrong. Even if you treated them kindly and softly like puppies and cats countless times, you weren't going to risk being seen as soft and fragile in your workspace, in front of Yao no less. He wasn’t cold in any way, or unkind to either robots, people or animals - but you felt silly in your treatment of your helpful companions.
“Are you saying that the droids may have a.. small flaw in their system? Their code could use some fine tuning, that's for sure…” you replied, trailing off as you thought about it, relieving him of your gaze in the meantime.
“Yes, that is what seems most plausible, although I do not know their code as well as you do”
You nod and just shrug, too tired to think of inputting more codes and numbers, but you knew the task was unavoidable. “Yeah…I'll take a look at the codes once I'm back. Uh, you know where Baizhi keeps her things?”
“Not exactly in the way she has her things organized…but, we can just leave them in an orderly place. I can explain the situation to her in the morning for you, no worries” Xiangli Yao is about to hasten his step again but you make it a point to beat him to it, opening the door for him and keeping it open. You hear a huff of a laugh behind you but you do not immediately turn around to face him and see his expression. Yet when you do take a look, your heart jumps in your throat as he passes by you, giving you another one of his warm smiles.
You feel stiff compared to him, he who seems so carefree and professional.
“You don't have to do that on my behalf. I'll just talk to her myself” you slide in next to him above Baizhi’s desk. It looks rather empty with how well organized it looks. Papers piled neatly on one end next to the simple lamp, pens in their pen holder, a few other things carefully tucked over the desk but besides that, there was nothing else on the desk. Everything else had its place on the shelves or in the drawers. You have to hold back your awe at it, remembering how much of an ‘organized mess’ your desk is.
“It wouldn't be an inconvenience, Baizhi and I have a task we have to do together tomorrow,” Yao said as he sat the sample bags down along with the little boxes.
You find yourself not knowing what to say, and suddenly you feel as if you're standing too close for comfort, your neck feeling too warm and you decide to pace away, taking in the office - one you have probably visited before but that fact wasn't important right now.
“Coohoo, clack?”
You both turn around and see several eyes staring back at you around the doorframe.
Xiangli Yao chuckles as he sees that the little droids have, once again, managed to snag something of his to bring to you - this time the Rubik's cube from before. They murmur among themselves when they see him, and one at the front almost hisses when he approaches. The others rush in with the Rubik's Cube in tow, rushing straight to you.
“Ah- not again…” you grumble as you crouch down to welcome your rowdy robot children in, taking the cube away from them as they crowd around your feet and tug lightly at the tail of your coat.  “I'm really sorry, Xiangli-”
“No, no, please, no need to apologize. Now that I look at this, I have a feeling they're trying to lift your spirits. Surely, AIDE realizes a Rubik’s Cube has no other use but momentary play”
You look up at him, joining in the stare group made from your droids who all can't seem to take their eyes off of him.
“That…could be it. Hah, a rather cute thought, isn't it? I should give these guys a bit more praise, I think..” you feel yourself cracking slowly, the exhaustion and the weight of your unreached goals making your mind a fuzzy place. You feel your cheeks go warm again and cast your eyes down swiftly to take a look at your droids again.
“Quite so. Do you need help with the coding?” He suddenly asked as you rose to your feet, taking a careful step over the grouped up droids. You stumble and feel Yao grab onto your elbow to stabilize you. “Careful-”
“Thanks.. here's your, uhm, cube” you mutter as you hastily hand him the Rubik's cube even before you get to stand back properly on your feet.
The droids coo in unison, first in surprise and then in relief when you don't fall.
“And no, actually, I should be fine with doing the coding on my own. It will only take a bit, but anyway- I'd rather not be in your way any more than I already am.” You said as you found your feet again, the droids already gathering around your feet again and looking up at you and Yao unblinking.
“In my way? Miss (L/N), you’re not in my way. I am offering you my help of my own free will, not out of pity or anything similar” he assures you and soon joins you in looking down at your droids when you fail to respond. This time he can’t help but notice the flush on your cheeks, but he doesn’t comment on it for your sake.
“These little ones are.. quite something” you added as your eyes gazed over them all, listening to their lenses “blink” and observe.
The droids huddle closer, almost climbing up over the other to reach better heights to either of you. His words from before strike you once more in that moment, and you find yourself thinking deeper about the issue at hand - although can you really call it an issue? The droids have done nothing but try their best to be of use to you, and not only in your work but in your mood as well. Would it be so wrong to treat them with a little more humanity? The droids seemed to favor Xiangli Yao in some ways too, as most of the items they brought back to you were his.
“Xiangli Yao..”
“Hm?” He tips his head to the side, looking over at you as you still observe the little ones.
“Could you actually..help me with these guys a bit? I think I want to do more than just coding changes, I'd like to add some more features - and you have more experience in this field than I do”
Xiangli Yao feels his heart swell with something he can't quite describe coherently in that moment, but he knows it is making him feel fuzzy and energized. “Of course! I'd love to - spending some time with these droids is going to be a time well spent”.
Although he loved the droids on their own, he was more so looking towards spending time with you. And where the droids were is where you are.

Xiangli Yao x Reader
Summary: You always had a habit of staying overnight at Huaxu Academy, tinkering away at your latest project; Xiangli Yao had a habit of visiting you for new ideas at the crack of dawn.
Content: fluff
Word Count: 1.5k
a/n: immediately downloaded the game after seeing an edit of him, got him through the Moon-Chasing Festival event and now I'm writing fanfic for him, sorry if I didn't portray him correctly!! I'm new to the game lmao
Tumblr media
A few quick knocks pulled you out of your flow. What was the time? You threw a quick glance at your clock, almost 5 a.m.. That marked the 3rd night you had spent in the workshop, tinkering on your new creation. You slid your safety goggles up to your hairline, trying to blink away the blur that had settled over your vision. You really should start using the ceiling lamp along with your workbench lamp, otherwise you’d risk deteriorating your vision.
Another sequence of knocks made you scramble up from the saddle stool, reminding you why you stopped your project in the first place. You were at the other side of the room at lightning speed. Your workshop was small, only enough to fit one relatively big table in the middle with a smaller one rammed up at the corner, decked out with tools and machines from your personal collection. The academy was generous enough to lend you various equipment, one of them being a large robotic arm with different functions that was attached to the bigger table, but you didn’t dare to use it unless it was for “serious work” as you liked to call it.
The door wailed when you pulled it open. You really should oil it like how Xiangli Yao had suggested–
“Hello.”
Oh.
Speak of the devil. It was always around this time he clocked into work. It was also around this time he visited your workshop, never failing to bring you breakfast, knowing you were more often than not neglecting your needs in pursuit of finishing your latest project.
Xiangli Yao had crashed into your life just as violently as your prototype had when it hit an unsuspected Spearback. You didn’t think anyone would catch you in the midst of your experiments, since you made sure to do it in the dead of night far, far away from the city. But he had, and he was kind enough to escort you back to the academy, buying you breakfast before that. He had asked you about your creations, and without really thinking you started talking about your passion for battle focused tools and gushed over previous projects like they were your children. Afterwards, you had thought it was the first and last time you would have any kind of interaction with the Principal Investigator, but before you knew it, he was outside your workshop, asking you if you were down to discuss ideas for the next modification on his prosthetic arm.
If you had thought a bit further, you probably would have questioned why he went to you specifically, a rookie, when there were an abundance of talented engineers and mechanics alike who could bring his ideas to life much more efficiently and with better quality. But you were too wrapped up in the excitement of creating something new you had ushered him inside, grabbing the only available chair that wasn’t on its last legs for him to sit on while you grabbed your notebook, eyes gleaming.
The added mod had been a success after shedding blood, sweat, and tears day and night. You got to witness it with your own eyes when he asked you to head out with him at the first sign of light. The sunlight had painted him golden, and suddenly you weren’t as focused on his prosthetic as much. His movements had you entranced, not even daring to breathe in case it would disturb the vision in front of you. And that damn smile he directed towards you after defeating the enemy fully stole your breath away. Xiangli Yao was an unfair man.
As thanks, he had gifted you a saddle stool made of leather for your posture (though you still hunched over the desk like a shrimp) and for the fact your previous chair was merely a wooden one that would disintegrate at any given moment. You thought that would be it, but of course he defied your expectations and showed up a few weeks later, breakfast in hand with another idea. From then on he seemed to be keen on consulting you about potential modifications, ranging from battle focused ones to the more silly ones, like his ice maker that you had the honor to partake in creating. And before you knew it, he started spending some rare days in your workshop instead of his office, typing away and doing what scholars do while you were working on all different kinds of projects.
You had to admit you had developed a soft spot for the Principal Investigator during the times you spent together. You could never pinpoint when his visits started feeling like a part of your routine, or when you started looking forward to those moments. And somewhere along the way, you stayed behind just to catch him before you headed home, something you’d never admit to anyone or anything.
“I saw your light was on, so I thought to swing by before going to my office. I bought some Huanglong omelets–” he handed you a paper bag “–I also have an idea for a modification we could add to my prosthetic.”
That spurred you to pull out papers and different colors of pens, spreading them out on the bigger table before turning the ceiling lamp on. He had already started sketching before you even got an omelet in your mouth.
You seated yourself on your chair and rolled to the other side of the table, eyes tracking every swipe of his hand to see the idea bloom on paper. His newest idea was battle oriented. Specifically some kind of tool that could give him the opportunity to snare and damage multiple opponents at once. You weren’t sure what went on in his head for such brilliant ideas to form, but you thanked the dragons out there for letting you witness it so intimately.
As he was sketching, he described his thought process, pausing sometimes to glance up at you for feedback, but you were busy stuffing your cheeks with omelet, barely able to sound out coherent sentences.
Before long you had finished your breakfast, energized and ready to give some ideas yourself. You bounced ideas between each other.
“For this,” Xiangli Yao circled one of his scribbles, “we can add a tool akin to a black hole that will detonate on the enemy I defeated, gathering the rest of them in one place while I’m charging up for an attack. I have an idea on what material we can use…”
You were absolutely starstruck.
“Xiangli Yao, the man you are.” You climbed on the table, crawling a short distance to get closer to him before rising to your knees and cupping his face in your hands, slightly shaking his head back and forth. “I’m sure you’ve heard this more than enough– but you are a genius.”
A faint hue of pink dusted over his cheeks, and it was only then you realized how close you were to him.
“Oh!” you exclaimed. “Sorry I got carried away–”
Your panic was interrupted by the chill of his metal hand settling over yours. He looked up at you with such puppy eyes that were swirling with an indescribable emotion you wondered how you never noticed.
Before you knew it, his other hand settled on the back of your head, and you were pulled down.
His lips were soft.
The sheer gentleness he treated you with sent electricity crackling in your veins. Your eyes fell shut and you could hear your heart beating in your ears. Your free hand slid down to the back of his neck, fingertips lightly brushing against the hair before it found a place on his shoulder, and you didn’t miss the way he quivered under your touch.
Xiangli Yao parted with a sigh, eyes fluttering open to unabashedly stare at your face. He intertwined your hands, cool metal palm against the back of your warm hand, and raised it to his lips. Then he pecked your cheek, your forehead, your eyelids, before finally giving you another delicate kiss on your lips.
“Can’t believe I didn’t do this sooner,” he murmured when he pulled away. You exhaled a laugh.
“I can’t believe it either– oh shit!” You quickly clambered off the table with his help. “I hope I didn’t ruin any of the sketches…”
“Even if you did, we can just remake them,”  he declared nonchalantly. “Honestly, I would gladly let you ruin my research papers if I get to take you out on a date.”
“You don’t mean that!” you gasped. “You can do that without ruining your work.”
He smiled. “I wasn’t planning on it, don't worry. I’m gonna head to my office now. Just give me a call if you have any other ideas.”
“Will do, will do.”
“I’ll come pick you up at 6 pm today.” He gave you a quick kiss before making his way to the door. “See you then.”
You were left a blushing mess in your workshop, now a new project and a date in your hands.
Xiangli Yao was truly an unfair man.

idly watching xiangli yao tinker away at the new invention he was making for encore—"auto cuisiner," you recalled—in his messy workshop was relaxing enough on its own for a while, but you were beginning to feel restless.
"i can feel your eyes drilling into me right now, are you in need of my assistance?" he jokes without even looking up to meet your gaze. you straighten your back in surprise, not expecting to get caught staring at him. when he notices your lack of response, he puts down the screwdriver he was holding to direct his attention on you. "penny for your thoughts?" he regards you curiously with a bright smile on his face.
"do you think you can build me a prototype similar to that 'flight booster' you made a while ago but for land transportation? and don't make it disposable so i can repeatedly use it until it's broken." you decided to tease him a little bit with an outlandish request to throw him off just for fun. shocked by your sudden innocuous request, he raises his eyebrows and tilts his head to the side, still observing you thoroughly. "do you... really want me to?" he asks. "of course not! i was joking!" feeling flustered because of his earnestness, you laugh it off. "hm, you do know nothing is off the table for you, right? just ask and i'll do it, i'll gladly prioritize your request whatever it may be." he walks towards to the other side of the metallic counter where you're currently perched on, and once he's in front of you, he brings his left hand up to caress your cheek, his soft gaze conveying sincerity within them. it seems like your harmless little prank completely backfired on you.
your face heats up as he slowly drew closer, and when you finally feel his lips on yours, you close your eyes to savor the moment. he drives you insane; you could do this over and over again and still not get sick of his kisses. unfortunately, as quickly as it happened, he pulls away, leaving you in a daze. "you're so adorable." chuckling at your reaction, he lightly pinches your cheek before walking back to the other end of the metallic counter where his invention was propped up to continue working on it.
"hey, that wasn't fair at all! i want more!"

A/N: welcome to the kamisato slumber party (I’m sorry I had to) 🕯️
Tumblr media
The towering trees loomed over your figure, enveloping you in a long cast shadow rocking back and forth from the occasional gusts of gentle wind traversing in the clear sky. Glancing up, you squinted your eyes and shielded a hand atop your forehead, filtering the flooding rays of sunlight as it shone onto the earth. You held the porcelain cup between your fingers a bit tighter as the soft breeze of Inazuma whistled into your ears, making your mind wander blissfully amidst the comfortable silence.
Lacking the ability to speak has always seemed like a curse bestowed upon you by the gods. You had never understood why it was you who was subjected to the suffering of remaining silent while everyone around you chattered endlessly. You’d part your lips to speak, hoping for something—anything to push past your throat. However, that wish of yours was to no avail. With a hand to your chest, you’d frequently push past crowds of people, mind racing with a longing to speak as they did.
You believed you’d always fall short of others. That you would have nothing more than longing for your desire to be like those who surrounded you, while you were devoid of the ability to utter even a small sound. Or that was what you thought.
Until you had met your husband, Ayato.
His soothing voice was something you always yearned to hear, preferably over the voices of others who only struck shameful envy in you. However, Ayato had always been a kindhearted man, frequently understanding you and remaining patient as he took his time to understand your quirks. He had never once attempted to push you, nor had he harbored even the slightest bit of frustration whenever you had trouble communicating with him non-verbally. He would only let out a hum of understanding and nurture your hand between his, placing his palm atop your knuckles as his eyes locked onto yours and awaited for you to regain yourself patiently.
It was quite nice, really. Although you couldn’t say it, you cherished your time with him. Always huddling shoulder to shoulder affectionately in his embrace, as you felt as if you had the life that you’ve always wanted when you were in Ayato’s arms. Just by that, he could tell. He always understood your every signal, every cue, every gesture even.
You only let out a closed-mouth sigh as you reminisced upon every time your dear husband had been there for you through thick and thin. You adored every detail about him. His pale blue hair swaying through the wind, that gentle smile complimenting his pool-like eyes, the small mole briefly dotted below the corner of his lip…
You could go on and on about him honestly.
“Dear, I’ve brought some tea.”
A quiet, yet sharp voice called out to you from a distance, inching closer to you as your back rested against the smooth bark. Ayato made his way over to the spot you were sitting, lowering himself into the shade to cross his legs in seated position beside you. The cool tone of the shadows shrouded his face as he carefully set down the teapot, giving his complexion a sweet touch.
You flashed him a greatful smile, setting the porcelain cup down to wrap your fingers around the handle of the teapot. Ayato’s gaze simply followed your movements, as if he was carefully tracing each gesture like a hawk. The tea filled a little below the rim of the cup, clouds of steam drifting out of the hot beverage and vanishing into the air. You blew on it with a subtle breeze of wind from your lips, cooling down the tea as its steam wafted in the direction of your breath, the floral smell still present.
Ayato suddenly cleared his throat, extending an arm out to fumble through a pocket in his clothing. He seemed intent on finding it, fingers feeling up every portion as if he had hidden it quite well. You could only cock your head to the side slightly in response, feeling a blink of curiosity overtaking you, and thinking solely about what this might be.
“Here. Happy anniversary, darling. It may not be much but…I hope you do cherish it.”
Ayato suddenly cupped your face, palms angled against your cheeks as he positioned your head to come level to his chest. Slowly and carefully, he slid a small hairpin into the side of your hair, tangling the clip into your strands steadily. You leaned up to touch the pin, fingers ridging along the gold accents surrounding the center gem. And it didn’t take long for your heart to nearly burst from the fuzzy feeling you felt inside upon realizing…
It was your favorite precious stone.
Although you deeply yearned to verbally articulate how happy you were in this moment, how joyous he had always made you feel—you felt strangely content with not being able to express it. Ayato had understood and cared for you enough, knowing full well what you meant although you couldn’t say it. That was more than enough for you. He was everything you could ever ask for in this jealousy struck world.
His hands kept firm against your cheeks, continuing to cup them as he nearly squeezed them together. You swore he was resisting the urge to do that. Everything went quiet, and time stopped as he pressed his lips to your forehead, both of your eyelids lowering shut as you felt your heart flutter at your husband’s affectionate actions.
You would be together in every life. You knew that as a fact. And you prayed to the archons that in the life ahead of you, he’d love you just the same.

Naruto Shippuden | Calling The By Their First Name
Requested By: @nanahatsugun <3 thanks for the ask!
Part 1: Kakashi, Naruto, Sasuke & Shikamaru
Neji
Tumblr media
The guy ALWAYS has a cool demeanor and is rarely ever fazed by anything.
But this one time you two were training and he was teaching you a new move. What he loves to do is play around with you until you're super frustrated. Playfully of course.
But this time he took it too far. "Are you done?" you asked with a straight face to which he chuckled and said, "Yea yea now let's get to real training." But he tricked you again!
"Neji Hyuga!" You said standing back up. If you were not facing him you would have never realized the effect that it had on him. He completely froze for a second.
You never call him by his full name and are always sweet to him. And THAT is when he knew that he fucked up.
You couldn't hold in your laugh though heh it was too funny. Plus, you kinda felt bad for him. He never admits it when you tell the story to others and would pout a little when you do.
Itachi
Tumblr media
Your relationship with Itachi is very mature & understanding to the point that you two rarely ever fight. It is always a discussion when any of you feel something is off and you get it sorted.
And since you both were away on missions most of the time you don't get to be together in the first place so when you do, you want to make it as good as you both could.
You both decided to meet in a nearby village to Konoha as your path were crossing in the missions. The decided time was afternoon but he didn't come, the evening went by and the night came and you were worried plus super frustrated because your partner was bugging you to move on with the mission.
As you sensed his Chakra and realized he was here you shouted "Itachi Uchiha you better have a good explanation."
He brought some flowers that he picked on the way which he dropped, lol he was so scared. You were the only one who can scare the shit out of the best of the best from Konoha.
Later he told you that he went to check on Sasuke and some of the leaf village ninjas got in the way so he had to fight a little.
You felt bad later but didn't miss the chance to make fun of him later for his face was as still as a stone because of fear.
Not so much to your surprise he, of course, laughed along and admitted that he WAS scared for his life and genuinely haven't felt this in quite some time now.
Obito
Tumblr media
He absolutely smothered you with love and had just the type of affection type that you wanted. A mix of physical touch plus an act of service. But he sometimes went too much with the act of service to the point you'd feel guilty about it.
You did tell him that it made you feel this way and he promised that he'll take care of it the next time.
This one time you told him that you loved this flower that you saw on the outskirts of the rain village when you were on a mission.
The next morning you woke up to your room FILLED with those flowers.
"Obito Uchiha" you shouted from your room assuming he was around somewhere. He got anxious thinking he did too much again.
You heard a weak "yes" from the kitchen. When you didn't answer he peaked from the door with just one eye peeping out.
"Come here" you demanded not facing him but the flowers. He figured that he went too far again.
But when you turned with tears in your eyes. He was relieved a little to know that they were tears of happiness.
Shisui
Tumblr media
Shisui was the kind of guy who never really gave you any reason to be angry. You mention something once and he'll never do it again.
And your friends were huge fans of his. It was as if they kept tabs on him more than YOU did which was just funny to you at first.
But then it started to get annoying. They'd surround him taking nonsense and in their fake high-pitched voice when he was around.
He already was busy most of the time and never really got any time and whenever you two would hang out they will show up.
This one time it happened again. You waited, 10 mins passed by, 15 mins passed by and you were losing patience now. But you kept quiet because you knew that he was KIND OF a hero of this generation as he was so advance and people were fond of him, especially ladies.
But man oh man they were getting way too close. "Shisui Uchiha," you said as loud as you can making everyone go silent.
"I think we should go," he said bowing to everyone and taking your hand.
He started apologizing but before he could go any further, you stopped him. "I just wanted to get away from there, heh I'm not mad at you or anything," you said genuinely smiling.
Because with his politeness you two would be there for the next hour as well.
He let out a sigh of relief although he did say that you scared the shit out of him for a second there.

Thanks For Reading and for the ask too <3

I love it when my husband has a bad day.
Don't get me wrong, it's not like I want to see him sad because things didn't go as planned during practice or that teammate of his was more annoying then usual. I just like the way he acts when he comes home to me after a bad day.
Some people shout and get angry. Other people isolate themselves to calm down after those (unavoidable) bad days. But not the man I promissed to love in sickness and health.
When he comes home, he doesn't say anything. He takes off his jacket and shoes as quick as possible and just throws himself at me. He then proceeds to nuzzle his head in my neck, still not saying a word, and, after he found the "perfect" position (which I know he did, cause he sighs and smiles when he does find it), he grabs my hand and puts it in hair, as if it's a silent plea for me to tangle my fingers through his locks and massage his scalp.
We spend hours like this. Just me and him bathing in each other's presence, without anything or anyone else to intervee. Sometimes, he even falls asleep, and I want to gush about how comfortable he is around me and yap about how cute he is while sleeping (even if he drools all over the bed most of the times). And then I concentrate on him and him only: his softened breath, his heart pace starting to slow down and those inconscious sounds he lets out when I caress the right spot.
I love to whisper to him about my day while passing my hand underneath his shirt, noticing the tension leaving his body and feeling each muscle he worked oh so hard to build. One time, I even joked about giving him a massage. He didn't deny it, so I think he wants one. He just doesn't know how to ask (we really need to work on this kind of communication).
I love my husband. And I love the domesticity and good moments his bad days provide: just me and him, showing our love for each other without needing to say anything.
ITOSHI RIN, ITOSHI SAE, Barou Shoei, Shidou Ryusei (hear me out on this one), Oliver Aiku, Michael Kaiser, Nagi Seishiro, Bakugou Katsuki, Todoroki Shoto, Ushijima Wakatoshi, KAGEYAMA TOBIO, KOZUME KENMA, Tsukishima Kei, Akaashi Keiji

Itachi's June -> Day 11: Matching Necklaces
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ever since you started dating your raven-haired, fashionably cute boyfriend, your eyes linger around his beautiful Van Cleef necklace. He's always worn it as a staple, and there are lingering memories of the cool metal lingering against your skin when you're intimate with Itachi. Those memorable missionary moments are unforgettable.
Today's nothing special really, just a random weekend. You woke up before Itachi, so you can go ahead and take the caregiver role and prepare his favorite iced americano. It's hard to comprehend who spoils whom the most. Itachi's hands lingered behind you and hugged you, smiling, "Good morning, Angel." His morning voice, laced with a sleepy haze always makes your stomach flip.
"Good morning, Itachi." You smiled, "I'm making your coffee, just the way you like it." You hummed, grinning when his lips pepper soft kisses across your nape and your neck. Lathering you up with his affection and love.
Before you can lean away to stop Itachi's morning abuse (affections) :3 You notice him wrapping something around your neck. Your attention is diverted from preparing the espresso to your neck. You blinked, "Oh- wait- Oh?" The necklace is absolutely beautiful, a customized variant of Van Cleef. It's rose-colored. Looks stunning.
"What's this for?" You mumbled, a blush creeping against your cheeks.
"Well, it's a gift. I don't feel I need an occasion to spoil my girl, my dear." He grins, Itachi has a cute grinning face. It's rather rare for people who are acquainted with him to imagine him smiling with his teeth showy. However, not for you.
"Thank you, Itachi, I love it." You whine, jump hugging him as he wraps his arms around you. "Now we match"
"That's right, Angel girl. Now we match." He purrs.

unspoken rule | kenma x reader
synopsis | kenma falls asleep on your lap
note | i was wondering if it’d be better to do this the other way around.. maybe i’ll make that a part two? also unedited im writing at at 4 am pls excuse any mistakes
Tumblr media
It was late at night when Kenma came out of his room.
You were sitting comfortably on the couch binging a show when you saw him shuffling out of his room. His hair was messily tied back and his eyes were half closed; he looked like he was on the verge of falling asleep.
“You done streaming Ken?” You ask.
He hummed as made his way towards the couch, dragging his feet until he laid down beside you, resting his head on your lap.
Your fingers naturally found their way to his hair, gently trying to free his hair from the hair tie. “What on Earth were you doing in there to get your hair this tangled?” You mumble, not expecting to see his hair in such a state. It’s as if he was battling someone in there and his hair was the main victim.
He shrugs his shoulders and closes his eyes. “It just happens.”
You roll your eyes but continue nonetheless, gently pulling the strands out bit by bit. Eventually the hair tie comes loose with minimal hair loss and you toss it on to the table. “There you go, now you’re free.” You gently ruffle his hair and he grumbles. “You wanna watch something?” You ask despite already knowing what his answer would be.
As predicted he shakes his head. “ ‘m sleepy..” He mumbles.
You lean down and kiss his forehead. “Then go to bed. I’ll head over when I’m done with this episode.”
He huffs and turns his head away from the TV and instead towards your stomach. “No, I’ll sleep here..”
You don’t comment on his clinginess and accept his company, lowering the volume on the TV before unpausing your episode. As your fingers comb through his hair you can feel his breathing slow down and his body fully relax. He had finally drifted off to sleep. If you wanted to move now you couldn’t; it’s like when a cat falls asleep on you. You are forbidden from moving so you don’t disrupt its sleep. You glance down and admire how at peace he looked.
If he was a cat he’d totally be purring right now.
As you brush your fingers through his hair you hold back a giggle when your fingers graze over a noticeable dent, likely due to how long he wore his headphones for. Despite being asleep he’s quick to notice your movement. He lazily opens one eye, trying to see what you were laughing at.
“It’s nothing,” You giggle. “Go back to sleep.”
He does as told, allowing his eyes to close once more. You continue to brush his hair, this time being careful not to touch the dent to avoid laughing and waking him again.

Do tell me which one you guys prefer more? You/yours or they/them/she/her.
Contents: Jiyan x GN!Reader, they/them pronouns, blood and injuries, angst but turns to bittersweet at the end, fluff? They both live at the end so we can count it as a happy ending.

'I can't do this without you'
Tumblr media
Holding the weight of a body in his arms never felt heavier before. The gradual added weight on his heart and lungs kept getting heavier and heavier by the moment, he was sure it would make his ribs burst from the pressure. And he wouldn’t be surprised if the next time he looked down he saw his own heart beating outside his very body. (Y/n) was pale, bleeding and giving no response to any action he took. “Please..” His lips muttered, but to what extent his plea stretched out, no one could tell.
His dragon came crashing through the waves of TDs like a storm, breaking apart their limbs and turning them to ash before he himself emerged from its glowing maw, jumping in front of (Y/n) with spear in hand. Jiyan’s face twisted in a fierce scowl, his sharp eyes hooded beneath his knit brows as he plunged into the remaining monsters that lurked around. But not even after he dealt with them did he achieve the quiet that usually followed a concluded battle. The buzzing in his ears did not stop. His heart beat still thundered between his ears, and the sound only multiplied once his golden eyes landed on the falling body of his dearest companion.
There was no time, he told himself, gathering all the courage and patience he found within himself, gathering them in his arms and fleeing from the charred fields as if fire was threatening to lick up his heel. The buzzing sound was deafening, so akin to silence yet it was everything but. He heard nothing else, but he heard it all. As he pushed his way past the soldiers at the front, eyes wide and staring into the void, trusting only his feet to find the path for him. He needs nothing else but to hurry and scold himself for not being able to go faster.
He carried them into the first medical tent his eyes landed on, the flap of the tent slapping out of place and before his form and before he could process the light slap the material did to his cheek, he was placing them down onto one rolled out mat in the corner. He saw the lips of the medical staff move, but no words reached his ears, and for all he knew he could’ve been barking or whispering at them to do something - to help them. He joined in the efforts, plucking out the gauze and the antiseptics from  the corners of the tent and gathering them next to the mat as one healer already began to cut away their dirty clothes to gain better access to the wound.
The bare skin glistened with blood, the only shade of theirs that could make Jiyan feel sick to the stomach. Other healers in the tent looked at him in bewilderment as his breathing was yet to calm down, labored and ragged, but his hands held utmost care and precision as he started on the gauze, already keeping steps ahead and waiting until the healer next to him peeled the clothes away. Each layer unfolded like a wet petal, revealing the yawning gash underneath. Jiyan’s golden eyes turned a shade darker under the pressure and the light in the tent, turning a shade of olive instead, sick with worry. Were they gone already? He looks at their face, glimpsing their peaceful expression, dotted with splatters of blood and grime. They’re still bleeding, he notes as his fingers become slick with blood whilst he worked on their wound, there was still a beating heart inside of them, and that meant life. His mind spun prayers on repeat, prayers he thought he had long since forgotten the words of, favoring battle chants over putting his hope into something he couldn’t see or touch. How long till (Y/n) wakes?
Long time has passed until his mind has reeled back around to the present. He was alone now, aside from (Y/n), huddled on a small wooden chair in the opposite corner from which he could see them, patched up and under the light. His hands, once so calm and steady, had begun to shake as realization settled within him. How he could have so easily lost them, with so many words yet to be spoken, hurt more than any wound he sustained. Blood caked on his fingers, falling off into dust as he flexed them into a fist before releasing again. All the worry made him angry, and anger never suited him. It made him think badly, irrationally, and in the silence that followed the medical emergency of their state, all thoughts took root deep within his mind and soul, festering like a neglected cut. (Y/n) shouldn’t have been allowed on the front lines, he should have set them back, or even better - he should have misused his position and sent them home, risking to humiliate them for being sent home for seemingly nothing, other than his selfish need to keep them safe on all accounts.
Sighing, Jiyan shuddered at his own mind’s skilled ways of wearing him down. It played out his image and character in ways he knew he’d never act. He’d never do those things, but in such a state as he was in, he nearly believed it all. Pressing his forehead into the clean heels of his palms he stared at his own boots until the silence became a soft comforting buzz. Sleep had tried to pull himself down his eyelids, but each time he refused it, eventually finding himself sitting at their side again, instead of the faraway corner. Long hours had passed, and Jiyan felt the camp go to bed with the night settling in the corners of the world. But he couldn’t, it would be a disservice to you if he left you alone, but his duty called - and he internally begged for forgiveness as he stepped out of the tent to check up on all the others, cleaning his hands while he was at it.
There was blood on his hands.
And it was theirs.
And he’d never be able to wash it away, no matter how hard he scrubbed, or how many times he washed his hands.
Morning came chill and misty, but Jiyan’s body felt none of it. The cold clung onto him like a second coat, greeting him like an old friend and embracing him as the same. He only hoped the cold did not embrace them too. The night was sleepless for Jiyan, and after he had ensured the safety of others and checked in with his Captains, he had found his way back to the medical tent he left (Y/n) in.
“There’s a lot for me to say, my dear…friend..” Jiyan’s pale lips formed the last word hesitantly, treating it as an impostor instead of the usual warming endearment in which fashion he used it years ago. The word had long since become strange to him, yet he wished not to risk disrespecting them in this state, heavily considering the fact they may not even share in his sentiments.  “Yet you seem so eager to cut your life short.. “ he sneered lightly, not at them, but rather at himself, blame always within reach to be pulled towards himself by his very hand.
“What would  I do without you..? Who would I be without you?” The world around him seemed to quiet down in silent sympathy.  “You mean so much more than you believe, more than you know.. I’ve wished to tell you, but all you force me to do is scold you and weep over you like some child… like when we were kids…”
A twitch, and then the fingers of (Y/n)’s hand grasped into a fist, making his eyes widen at the sight he barely glimpsed with his head hanging low, staring at the ground. His golden eyes snapped to their face, seeing the corners of their lips curl downward into a pain filled scowl.
“(Y/n)!-” he beamed with all the softness his surprise would allow him as he kneeled beside them in one swift swoop. His hand came over their eyes to shield it from the light once he saw how their nose scrunched and brows knit together. Relief filled their eyes as the intrusive light no longer tried to pry them open so cruelly. Dizziness was still huge, feeling as if it split their blood apart, making it as light as clouds, and making them float on top of the mat.
“What’re you.. rambling about…?” (Y/n) muttered, throat dry and voice coarse and wincing, their face once more ended up in a painful twist. Jiyan didn’t need all his medical knowledge to see they were still out of it, his frown deepening, but his heart raced up to climb into his throat.
“I was saying how reckless you can be..” he whispered, blinking away the nervousness from his eyes. His other hand hovered over them, refusing to touch them in fear of hurting them. But his eyes drank in everything, looking for any anomalies that he may have not noticed before, although the chance he missed something was astronomically low with how keenly his eyes kept vigil over you throughout the night.  “Are you in pain? Tell me, I’ll help make it better” he told them, shuffling as he loomed over their body.
(Y/n)’s eyes still refused to open after they fluttered shut, their throat bobbing, but swallowing nothing with how parched it felt. “Water..” They croaked, and suddenly light was kissing their eyelids again as Jiyan moved away in haste to fetch a bottle of water.
He returned as quickly as he left, swift as the wind and helping them drink with one hand stabilizing their head and the other holding the bottle to their chapped lips, watching them carefully as they languidly took sips to drink. The gloved iron claw on his finger faintly scratched against their scalp, tangled between their hairs. Letting out a small sigh, thirst finally quenched, they finally opened their eyes to see just how disheveled and worried Jiyan looked.
“Jiyan..” (Y/n) called him, watching as his face both hardened and mellowed at the drop of his name in that worn out tone. Their face looked confused to see him like this, not that they ever doubted he’d worry if they got injured, but the tension within this space felt like a maw of a beast, ready to snap its jaws shut. Something was amiss, something they couldn’t quite place.  The aching throb in their side didn’t subside, but they were able to somewhat ignore it for now, worry poisoning them into thinking of the worst - whatever could be worse than their own life nearly being taken away. The question remained unsaid, but it appeared as if Jiyan didn’t need the verbal communication to respond.
“Nothing- don’t worry about it.. Please, lay down and tell me how you feel” He urged as he placed his palm onto their sweaty forehead, pushing it back onto the small pillow below. (Y/n) blinked, confused and scared and exhausted as he pawed gently at their skin, only pulling away after he ensured there was no rising heat.
“I’m.. aching.. that’s all.. and sore all over”
“I believe that to be an understatement, this isn’t some small scratch.. You nearly..” Jiyan looks at the bandages, splotches of red already having bloomed through like little poppies in a faraway field. “I’ll get you something for the pain now… Don’t move.” It was a command, that last part, and left no room for any question or rebuttal as he lifted himself away, painfully severing the moment in favor of searching the place for painkillers and herbs. If there was a way to remain glued to their side and heal them in that way, he wouldn’t have ever left, and that option would have done his heart many favors.
“When will you start listening to orders?” he asked as he walked back to the mat, his hand grasping the gorge shaped pill box his mother gave him, his tone now heralding the lesson he was about to drop on them. His eyes refused to meet theirs as he crouched down again, popping the lid of the gorge open and letting two pills fall into his open palm.
“Whenever you... decide to be less dense..” (Y/n) responded with a small cough that rippled the pain from their wound, and wincing they forced themselves to stay still. He did not take sweetly to the jest, his eyes focusing on them like a target, a beloved one at that.
“You should have called out.. I was there, I could have helped you out. You didn’t need to get hurt, and all because of your faulty sense of independence” Jiyan kept going, urgency for them to understand his side coloring his voice. He helped them sit slowly, apologizing for making them move in a husky and quiet tone, apologizing for making them sit and be here and be in pain, swallowing the big tasteless pills.
Keeping their silence, (Y/n) looks down, guilt seeping through their veins and weary body which seemed to know no rest now.
Sore and worried and dizzy and ever forgetful in this half slumbering state they could only grasp at the thin strings of consciousness as Jiyan loomed over them like a hawk, restless in his pursuit to help, yet he remained in the dark as to how else to do so. What else could he do except think of healing magic he had no possession of. His teeth grinded together, golden eyes flickering over them and then up to their face, meeting their bleary gaze.
“I’m sorry…”
(Y/n) whispered, one hand over their chest as they took breaths in, slow and weak, but good - they were not the shallow breaths you took when he was racing back to the medics and other healers with them in his arms. This was better.
Jiyan’s heart stuttered at the low tone that broke under the pressure he had placed upon them, unwilling yet it was no less necessary if he wished to have them understand. Too many times he had sat down with them, told them to be careful, to follow protocol and all the talked about strategies, to value the teammates at their sides, yet it all seemed for naught. What did those conversations mean, they could not heal you now and make you whole again.
A shaky sigh drops from Jiyan, pulling all the weight from his shoulders and making him sag in his spot, head hanging low and heavy. What was he supposed to say?  He had words too many to share.
“It’s… fine.. What’s done is done, and we can’t change what happened.. It’s alright..”
“You’re mad at me..”
Of course he is. Grief has never bitten him so hard as in the moment he saw them stagger in the field, it made his stomach churn and his sides tickle as if wind passed through the hollows between his ribs. And he grieved as if he lost them while patching you up, so much so it poisoned him and made him mad, angry.
“I.. I am not mad at you.. ” ‘I love you, why can’t you see?’ - a part of him wanted to say.
Blinking at him, tears bubbled up to their lash line, listening to him huff, unknowing of the inner turmoil he struggled through, the answer to close yet so far, holding you in suspense. Like a word about to be spoken.
“Why can’t you just listen to orders.. You throw yourself into danger as if you have lives to spare” Jiyan began, finding their eyes in a stern glare which mellowed out quickly. “You are not valued only as a soldier to be thrown across the board but as a human, someone’s companion.. (Y/n)..”
There’s a plea in his tone, and another in his eyes, and his fingers itch with the need to hold onto them, to let the venom of his grief seep into them too, to make them see, understand. It’s like a beast he’s hardly keeping at bay. When was the last time he felt so strongly about someone? Anyone? And to the point he’s shedding his general persona to give way to a man desperate to keep the few people he holds dear alive. Jiyan couldn’t name anyone.
“I understand that, but Jiyan.. how many nights have we spent talking about the day of peace? When there’s going to be no wars to fight? I know-” A cough interrupts them, but Jiyan does not jump at that opportunity to cut them off and scold them - he waits. “..I know it’s a childish dream, a hope, but peace is achievable. And if it means getting battered and bruised and hurt along the way, then so be it  - the road to peace is not paved in a bed of flowers..” (Y/n) frowns, nearly pouting, and in some absentminded state, their hand flails in the air in search of his, a purchase he gladly grants without a thought.
Shaky fingers curl around his gloved ones, a tinge smaller, and more fragile than his own with the state now. They lack the grip they usually possess, yet they grasp and hold and he holds back, squeezing a bit tighter. God knows, he shares their view, their childish hope, but he can’t agree with it, not now.  “(Y/n).. Peace will mean little if you’re dead to see it..” It’s a whisper, as fragile as the wings of a hatchling, and as soft as the summer breeze.
“That all will mean nothing to me either, it won’t be peace if you’re not with me to see it..” he added, his other hand grasping over their own, thumbing at their soft skin. He swallows thickly, hoping to wish away the tears that threaten to come up to his eyes.  “I lo-... I love …you…”
Realization is slow to settle, but he sees it in their face, their eyes that fail to blink as they take him in, deciphering his words one by one, failing, at first, to understand their weight from the usual affections they shared before. Parting their lips, they fail to respond, their eyes flickering to the surroundings before they return to him, and it was as if all air had been knocked out of their lungs.  The meaning is written all over him, communicated through all ways but verbal and it was enough. They were children together, growing up and exploring the world, plucking strange berries from nature and sharing them together, they grew up together.
Now they are grown, and (Y/n) focuses on the thought that has appeared in their mind countless times before - growing old together. It was just out of reach, and it was not guaranteed and their actions on the battlefield nearly made it certain that the future would not embrace them together. Trying to blink the tears away, they look at Jiyan, apologetic and ashamed, but where they wished to seek forgiveness was unneeded, as Jiyan had already forgiven it, no matter the hurt.
“I love you too-” The words were accompanied by a stray tear wetting their cheek.
Hushed breaths and shuffling of clothes flutter, and in a blur, Jiyan had pulled himself ever closer, sitting at their side and ever so carefully drawing them to his chest. His movements are slow and calculated even in the face of such strong emotion, too fearful to hurt them.
He lets them rest their face into the crook of his neck, eyes fluttering closed as they both simply hold onto one another, and it was in that moment he felt them squeeze him back, full of blooming life and energy. His fingertips itched for a stronger embrace but he controlled himself.
“I love you..” he repeated, even more quiet and directly beside their ear. “Please.. listen to me.. I only wish to keep you safe.. alive most of all.. Understand me..” They nod their head against him, their fingers clawing at his back with a little more strength, holding on as if he was a ghost ready to vanish.  “You’re my candlelight leading me through the darkness.. I can’t do it without you..”
“Oh, Jiyan..” They crack their voice over his name, eyes seeing a mosaic of colors through tears ready to be shed. “I only wish to help you.. Under all this armor and uniform, I can see you struggling too.. How can I not become a little desperate when I see all my other attempts to help you have failed?” They sigh, their breath tickling the skin underneath this chin and he shudders to think of this mutual tug-of-war. They can’t win, neither can.
“You leave my struggles to me.. I do not withhold them for no reason, but I see that has done me, us, more harm than good..” He says but fails to make another sentence, knowing he’d rather not burden them with his own worries, and he’d much rather hear of their own.
“Just.. promise me this” he begins, pulling away and making them face to face. “You will not jump to take any more blows for me, in no amounts at all. I’m the one that should guard you, and not the other way around” He is firm in his case, and even if (Y/n) had the strength to argue, they wouldn’t. This was final.
Closing your eyes and giving a little bow of their head, they profess their agreement to his words without a word of their own. And sinking back into his embrace felt like sinking into a bed of feathers, soft, warm and welcoming. “Fine..”
“We’ll talk more about this once you’ve healed..” Jiyan muttered, his lips ghosting their brow and feeling them nod against him again. His hand rubs up and down their back, and his lips land on their cheek, lingering there in a gentle expression of his love that knew no bounds.
The flickering light and the sudden silence made his mind wander, and his body began to rock back and forth slowly, hoping to ease you into slumber. He wondered how it would feel to hold them again, when they were healed and not even a scar remained of their injury; how it would feel to kiss their brow and hold their cheek in his palm, to see those lights stare back at him from within their eyes, full of mirth and devoid of pain; he thinks how comforting it would feel to feel you flush against him each morning, holding your warm body close and tucking them under the covers when they shift in their sleep… So many images run through his mind, and he prays he gets to see them materialize in reality.
For now he was fine with holding them, serving their needs until war reeled its ugly head again, and he had to leave once more. For his people and (Y/n) he’d grow great miles to achieve peace, even if it meant losing his own peace.

C/w: Stardew Valley. Sebastian x reader/farmer. Sfw but suggestive at the end. I just love the 10 heart event and wanted to write what it was in my own way.
10 HEARTS
You knew he was headed to Zuzu City because it was the only place to the east of Pelican Town. Sebastian surprised you though by taking the exit that was before the main road into downtown of the city.
You watched the street lights and shadow of trees pass over the visor of your helmet. Sebastian only had one, so he offered it to you when he asked you to come along. It made you nervous that your boyfriend was riding the bike without one, but he seemed to be more careful this time around. He took the turns and stop lights gently, opposed to the times you would hear his motorcycle roar and skid around the mountain roads in town.
You tapped his shoulder as he came to a slow stop at a crossroads of a hill. He glanced over his shoulder to where you were pressed against his back, and gave a quirked brow and a shake of his head when you pointed out a patch of wild leeks a little off the way.
“We should stop and get some for George!” You called over the rumble of the engine between your legs.
“Why?” His voice was soft, even when he spoke loudly. It was as if he had grown so used to being quiet and out of the way. A whisper in a home of Robin’s hammer and saw and Maru and Demetrius’s beakers and computer fans.
“It’s his favorite food! Evelyn can put it in his eggs!”
Sebastian shook his head a little, a small smile curving his full lips. “You know everything about everyone in town!”
Your laugh made your arms tighten around his waist. “I’m a people pleaser!”
Your conversation moved into easy silence as he took you further and further up the mountain. It confused you a little; you had spent your whole life in Zuzu City until last spring and you had never known this look out spot existed outside the city limits.
He came to a stop at the top of the peak, and you tugged the helmet off your head, already feeling your hair sticking to your scalp and forehead from the sweat and heat of spring’s last gasp into summer.
Sebastian walked over to the cliff, sighing and lighting a cigarette as he looked to the millions of lights and skyscrapers in the distance. He stretched his arms over his head, swaying from side to side as he stretched. You stood next to him, nudging your shoulder into his as you came up. He laughed softly and took a drag off his smoke before blowing it into the humid air - thoughtfully away from your face. Part of you wished he would stop smoking, because it was a terrible habit. Part of you wished he didn’t look so good doing it.
“I come here when I want to get away from everything and just…think.” His eyes were distant as he spoke, as if he wasn’t really seeing the city but a life he could have there. Opportunities that he could take. You watched the breeze come and tousle his course dark hair away from his skin, pale from spending so much time in his room.
A cloud of smoke came out his lips, and he glanced at you. “What do you think?”
You thought a moment, letting his question seep into your bones. Your mouth twisted as you thought of your life in the city. The shoebox apartment you lived in. The sounds of the cars and trains and wind. The way the neon signs in the town square from all the clubs and bars would light up your friend’s faces at night. The savory and sweet smells from the food trucks. The tears you shed on the floor of your bathroom before you had to get ready to go into work.
“It’s a beautiful idea,” you murmured.
Sebastian tilted his head, dark brows furrowing and making an adorable V above his nose. You laughed quietly and wet your lips, thinking of a way to explain it in words rather than feelings and watercolors. Finally, you met his eyes.
“The…vibe was fun? The energy.” You sat on the cliff, legs folding criss-cross in front of you. He followed your lead, stamping out his cigarette before sitting in the dirt and stretching his legs out in front of him. The muscles in his forearms flexed a little as he leaned back on them, and you tried to look away from his form. From wondering when the relationship would stop being new and nervous enough for you to easily fit yourself against him.
“The culture is fun. The plays and museums. The bars and clubs. Getting shitfaced and dancing like it’s your last night on earth. Like, you can forget that there’s a war going on. You get friends and can spend a few hours just…forgetting, I guess?”
Sebastian’s fingers slid over yours as you spoke. He looked at your hands, dirty and calloused from working. His eyes grew soft and he spread his fingers against yours, like he wondered what he would feel if his hands grew the same.
You sighed, swallowing down the flutter in your heart as you brushed your fingertips against his knuckles, lacing your hands together.
“During the daylight it sort of felt like waking from a dream. You were living paycheck to paycheck. Spending more gold than you could manage to earn on such a small living space. I had to go into a lifeless…empty…capitalist machine. Pretty soon, I wasn’t even living anymore. I was just existing. Barely funding my existence.”
He tugged your hand into his lap, letting you scoot closer to him until your thigh was warming his. You played with his fingers as you spoke, letting his blunt nails lightly scratch over your palm.
“Don’t get me wrong,” you grinned. “My life now is anything but easy. Farming is hard. Mining is even harder. If Willy hadn’t been around to teach me to fish my whole first year here I wouldn’t catch anything.”
Sebastian watched your face as you spoke, admiring how your cheeks bunched when you smiled.
“But the first time I dug my hands into that dirt and pulled up a carrot…when I cooked fish that I caught…gained the cows trust and fed the ducks the first time. It was like I finally took a breath. Like everything before was a long winter or a dream, and I could just…be proud? Feel like I was doing something worth while.”
You hummed, “I never got that before.”
“I never really thought of the downsides,” Sebastian mumbled. “Or what the reality might be. I felt so trapped at home, I just…thought of getting out and nothing else.”
You smiled, sighing a laugh through your nose. “Past tense?”
He nodded ruefully, smiling. “I’ve been finding myself happier at home in the valley.” His chin tilted up as smiled wryly at you. “Wonder why that is.”
You laughed with him, but your jaw snapped shut lightly when he brushed his hand over your hair, smoothing pieces out of the way so he could see your face more.
“I don’t…” his adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed roughly. You thought if you felt his wrist you could have his pulse hammer into your veins. “I’ve never brought another person up here. I mean I’ve never….you know what I’m trying to say…right?”
His dark eyes flickered down to your lips and you could almost feel him grab his bravery from deep inside. He leaned close to you, and you met him half way.
The kiss was clumsy and unpracticed. Shy in a way that only Sebastian was. Then, once you lifted your hand from the dirt next to you and brushed it against his cheek, he sunk into you. His lips molded to yours smoothly, tongue brushing lightly over yours as sparks started so bubble low in your belly.
You nipped his lip, sucking softly before bulling a sliver away, your forehead pressing into his. The lights from the distant city reflected in his eyes softly, and you tilted your head, brushing your lips over his.
“Do you want to come home with me?”
Sebastian’s lips chased yours when you tipped your head away to speak. A blush coated his cheeks and wrapped up around his ears. “Tonight?”
Every night. You nodded, brushing your lips over his cheek.
“Don’t you have to work tomorrow?” His nose nudged over yours. A dam had opened between you and all the tension and want was flooding out.
“You could help me tomorrow if you want…in the morning. I could show you.”
He felt his heart squeeze in his chest. He could see it. Brighter and better than any dream of the city. You, with the sun at your back haloing your head as you stood among the field of strawberries and green beans as they yielded their last batch of the year.
He didn’t know anything about farm work. But damn he wanted to learn.

Could you write some headcanons for Sebastian comforting his spouse who has anxiety and depression stemming from a less-than-stellar upbringing? I tend to need assurance people aren't mad at me and I avoid conflict cuz it tends to make me cry. Got to wondering how he'd handle all that lol.
rest your head, love || sebastian x farmer oneshot
after getting into an argument with haley, anxiety courses through your veins. but, sebastian is always here to help you through it <3

Stepping through the doors of your home, the expression on your face showed that you're absolutely defeated. Your demeanor was clouded by anxiety, and Sebastian could tell. As he rose from his computer and walked closer to you, he wore a worried expression. “Love, are you doing okay ...?”
You softly shook your head, sitting down on the bed and staring off into space. “I-I ... I got into an argument- ... with Haley. And ... I just feel like I ca- can't really breathe, y'know ...?” you stuttered out, putting your shaking palms against your face.
Sebastian sat down beside you and rested a hand on your back, rubbing circles with his thumb. “You can't take anything Haley says seriously, she's just insecure. She's just a bitch,” he mumbled to you, although it didn't seem to help. He knew that this was deeper than Haley, it was something much deeper.
Kissing your temple, Sebastian softly took your hands in his. “Hey, I want you to listen to my voice. Exit your mind, it's too dark of a place to be in right now. Would you like to sit in my lap?” he asked in the softest voice he could, offering his comfort.
As you crawled into his lap and wrapped your legs around his waist, you felt his arms caress your back. Tears started flowing from your eyes and you buried yourself in the crook of his neck. “I-I just hate arguing, and she said- she said so many things that I-I've heard too many times before and- I thought that I got away from it all! I'm just so- ... I'm upset and I can't help it ...”
Sebastian removed his hands from your back and cupped your face, wiping the gentle tears from your cheeks. “It's okay. You are away from it, I promise. Nothing's gonna hurt you here, not even Haley. You're none of the things Haley said, not a single one of them, do you hear me?”
You gave a silent nod, leaning into his hand. “... not even when she said I was annoying? Or boring? Or- ... anything?” you said, attempting to take deep breaths between your shuddered exhales.
“Yes, dear. You're none of those things. You're not annoying, why else would I even be here? You're not boring, you actually interest me more than any of the people in the town. You actually have a personality, you don't seem as 2D as everyone else ... you're everything to me, so please don't think stupid things like that. The people who say stupid things like that just don't get it. Now relax, let me take your mind off of it for a little while,” Sebastian said in a stern yet comforting tone. He held you tight to his chest, rubbing your back while he rocked softly.
He knew all about your past. He knew the horrendous things that you've witnessed, you've heard, you've felt. He was hellbent on mending that part of you, even if it meant a small bit at a time. He'd stay up all night with you if you needed, but you had fallen asleep in his lap soon after you felt safe enough to. He laid back on the bed, pulling you close and wrapping the cover around you both. He could finish his work tomorrow, nothing could beat these soft moments with you.
Pressing another soft kiss to your temple, he whispered to you. “Goodnight love, rest your pretty head,” he muttered, before closing his own eyes. He slept soundly next to you, holding you close the entire night. Nothing could beat this.

the softest coos filled up the room. your heart felt at ease and you didn’t have any worries weighing on your shoulders. you felt free, complete. there was nothing better than this.
the slightly open curtains casted a heavenly hue on your little daughter that you were cradling in your arms, very close to your chest. each time you stroked her cheek, she broke into the most adorable toothless smile with her eyes closed and that only could make your heart burst into crumbs.
“she feels so cozy,” you hummed to yourself. she was showered, changed, fed and rocked in your arms since this morning. now it was time for her second bottle of the morning which you had sat on the night table beside her crib.
you carefully tucked her in her baby pink sheets (courtesy of jeonghan who decided on getting her everything pink). she’d never looked more peaceful, you couldn’t take your eyes off of her. she was now at the age where she could hold her bottle by herself so once your hand placed the bottle of milk on her lips, she instinctively latched onto it with both her hands.
leaving the door of her nursery open, you made your way to the kitchen to do the final touches on the breakfast you’ve made. you prepared the plates and cutlery, decorated the pancakes with strawberries and some whipped cream and dripped some coffee before heading to your room.
jeonghan was peacefully sleeping. you took a moment to just look at him —a few steps away from the bed— snuggling up to the sheets, body curled up into a fetus position. soft facial features took your breath away. long eyelashes draped over the upper of his cheeks like little feathers, nose so boop-able and lips pretty swollen and so kissable.
your feet gently padded their way closer to the bed where you gingerly lied beside him, nuzzling yourself under his face and into his neck. he felt warm, so warm that you couldn’t help the hum escaping your chest.
jeonghan quickly realized what was going on, swiftly wrapping his arms around you and bringing you closer to his embrace. “mmh, this feels nice,” he murmured groggily, sleep still laced with his voice like an ivy plant.
you filled your lungs with his intoxicating smell; musk, laundry detergent, baby cologne, wood and just him and his natural body smell that you grew familiar with over the span of the years.
you couldn’t get over him.
“did you have a good night sleep?” you asked, still pressed against his chest, your arms wrapped around him like a baby koala.
“mmh,” he softly answered, pressing kisses on top of your head.
after what felt like eternity, you pulled away from his skin and gazed at his face. you almost choked on your breath at his beauty that you never seemed to get used to. his eyes were still closed but a soft smile painted his features.
“like father, like daughter,” you thought to yourself. these two were going to be the death of you.
your heart swelled in your ribcage at the sight of him and you couldn’t help yourself from stroking all over his face with your thumb. forehead, eyelids, nose bridge, cupid’s bow, lower lip and chin. you traced all his features in hopes of them sticking to your memory forever and ever.
“so this is how angels look like, hm?” you mindlessly asked, for no one in specific to answer. you were dazed, enchanted by him.
jeonghan bursted into the cutest laugh, small and straight teeth making an appearance behind his lips and you just stared at him in a daze. you had a nearly one year old daughter and you were still so love-stricken by him, it was actually unbelievable.
“haven’t we already established that, sweetheart?” he chuckled as he caressed your hair, peering at your glossy eyes that were fixing him from the position of you resting your chin on top of his chest.
“i just…still can’t believe that i get to spend the rest of my life with an angel-looking human,” you laughed, finally getting to boop his nose.
“y/n we have a daughter together, i think it’s time for you to get over yourself and start getting used to the fact that you’re married to an actual angel,” his slender fingers slid from your hair to land on your cheek, delivering sweet touches to the outline of your jawline, before stopping at your chin.
“you’ve got it all messed up,” you shook your head. he tilted his head in confusion as to why you would have such thing to say. “for all i know, you’re a devil with angel-like beauty, my love.” you looked at him fondly.
“hm?” he feigned innocence as he lifted your chin with one finger, enchantingly pulling you closer to his face. “but admit it,” he spoke lowly, his lips tingling on yours. “you do like my devil side better, sweetheart.” he smiled.
you swallowed thickly. “do you?” he asked, hands slithering around your waist to hold you in place upon noticing you struggling to keep your weight above him. oh he was so sly, you melted.
“i’ll grant you the benefit of the doubt on this one.” you looked down at him like he was a porcelain statue, so careful not to ruin. you actually liked both his sides equally but you knew that if you let him know, he would corrupt you and convince you that his devilish side was better. that meant more pranks, more teasing and less soft side jeonghan (mostly in bed) so no, you were not allowing him that.
“i have an entire lifetime to find out.” he said, finally dropping your body on his and placing a gentle kiss on your lips. it was soft and inviting, luring you into him like there was no other option. hands placed on both side of your face as he guided you through the greedy pushes of his plump lips, sultry sounds threatening to fill the room.
you breathlessly pulled away from him, watching his lips hovering in the air to chase yours. he just giggled softly at you, eyes hazy with sleep and drunk on kissing before licking his lips and pressing them together.
“where’s little pumpkin?” he asked after you adjusted yourself beside him on the bed. you were both on your backs, breaths slowly calming down, both your hands interlaced on his abdomen.
“sleeping.”
“still?”
“she’s taking her first nap of the day.” you turned to him. he looked confused.
“already? wait- what time is it?”
“9:45-ish am.”
“oh my, i overslept. why didn’t you wake me up so i could help you change and feed her?” he faced you now, blond strands of hair sticking to his forehead.
you pealed them away from his face and behind his ears. “you looked so peaceful sleeping so i didn’t wanna disturb you. i know you’ve been working hard for us, plus it’s a sunday so you deserved the extra hours of sleep.”
“i don’t deserve you,” jeonghan expressed with gratitude, soft gaze falling upon your face and you could fall in love with him all over again.
“you deserve all the love and care my love.” after a gentle peck on his lips, you pulled away and said, “freshen up and let’s go eat, breakfast is ready.”
jeonghan leaned down to pepper your face with kisses, “you’re so good to me,” he said in between each one. “i love you so much.”
“i love you even more. you’re the best husband and father to my daughter i could ever ask for. happy father’s day, my love.”
his eyes welled up with tears and his body melted into you. “you’re gonna make me cry sweetheart.” he pulled you into his arms and you secured yours around his body, engulfing each other into a sweet hug.
on another note, you loved his angel side more.

close to you — m!rover x f!reader
Tumblr media
soft, gentle, delicate—such was your touch on dark feathers.
lithe fingers grazing the feathers below, making him shiver from your electrifying touch. it seemed to echo from his wings down to the tips of his toes.
“you're quite sensitive,” you noted, “...does it distract you, rover?”
fluttering his eyes open, golden irises found themselves looking at you.
“...no,” he softly muttered, “please, don't mind me.”
it was only a simple check up. after the fiasco with the awakened threnodian, every citizen of jinzhou were relieved to find the two great heroes emerge alive from the lion's den. a checkup with your patient was long overdue since.
it was purely professional at first, really. it was what your job asked you to do anyway. you quickly dove into your usual checking his vitals, checking for any injuries underneath.
all was well, until you asked the rover to take off his top.
“is this normal?” you said, watching the noticeable scar on his back. you pulled the mirror closer to you, so that the rover could see the identical mirror reflect what you meant to point out.
“ah...I don't know...” sheepishly scratching the back of his neck, the rover sighed, “I have never seen that before. is it bad?”
“no,” you hummed, reaching out to touch it, “do you mind if I examine you further, rover?”
his breath hitched when your fingers gently traced the line on his back. with a small nod, you mapped out your examination. apart from that, there were a few more scratches, both fresh and old ones, littered across his back. tenderly tracing the fresh ones, you could feel him wince from your touches.
“does it hurt?” you asked, voice now soft as you sat on the examination table, body quite brushing his, “please tell me if I make you uncomfortable, rover.”
but you heard nothing from him, apart from his shallow breathing. when your fingers now brushed the large scar, the make couldn't help but hold his breath.
“did...the threnodian hurt you here?” you quietly asked, “I see no blood, yet I'm afraid that it might hurt you.”
“that's, ah,” what would the rover say? “...it doesn't.”
“really? are you sure? I could patch this up for you if you want—”
“it's fine, really.” the rover sighed, “they're my...wings.”
the rover must have think he's mad, telling it to a logical person like you. except he doesn't know, knowing you, you've heard too many bullshit from ridiculous patients, that none would faze you anymore.
“oh,” you shrugged, “okay.”
“I can show it to you...maybe?”
“it's okay.”
“I insist. so that I can really tell you that it doesn't hurt.”
“it's okay, I be—”
but the male rover didn't hear you. by the time you blinked, a large, dark feathered-wing came out from the scar. oh, you've heard too many bullshit from patients. but it's the first time you've seen it in person.
“...ah,” the rover mentally scolded himself, “s-sorry...it must have scared you.”
“you have...wings.”
“I do...they usually show up only when I'm fighting so...” looking back at your shocked expression, the rover smiled at you, “you're the first to see it without being in combat.”
is it adoration? the roger could see it in your face through the mirror. the way your mouth was agape, sparkling eyes fixated on the slow flutter of his wings. the rover, somehow feeling embarrassed, was ready to hide them again, when you placed your hand near the base of his wing.
“wait,” you sucked in a breath, never looking away, “can I...can I touch your wing?”
like a child, completely enthralled with the new discovery in front of them. as soon as the rover gave his consent, your fingers found themselves touching the feathers underneath.
those wings only knew chaos and disorder. it knew how to hack and slash its way to assist its owner against the tacet discords, or against any other enemy. but it was the first time the rover knew kindness, from the way you tenderly touched its feathers, from down below to the tips. he couldn't help but breathe deeply, trying to control his labored breathing.
“your wings are so sensitive,” you giggled, “it's almost in contrast to your persona in battle.”
you looked back at golden eyes staring at you. with a sheepish smile, you added, “sorry, you must've disliked it. I just couldn't help...it's the first time I've seen something so pretty.”
the rover couldn't help but sigh in content. to say that he disliked it was a lie—he liked it. he liked your gentle fingers on his sensitive wings, tenderly caressing them like cotton, tenderly conveying your hidden emotions, ones that his wings somehow could detect—
“you think...it's pretty?” the rover asked, flabbergasted.
“o-of course!” you exclaimed, a faint pink tinting your cheeks, “rover, you are so pretty.”
oops. so it was true—the blush on your cheeks a deeper shade. “I-I mean, your wings, they're, um...really...pretty.”
did he ever find you this cute before? turning to face you, a gracious smile on his lips, his wing pointed to you.
“you can touch them more, doctor.” he said, a hand out for you, “I'll allow you.”
only a fool would miss the giddy smile on your face. with one hand outstretched to touch the rover's wing, the man didn't miss the chance to hold your other free hand. you did miss, when he placed your hand on his cheek, leaning onto the warmth of your hand.
yes, it was warm. it was soft, gentle, and kind—you, who were growing affectionate; you, who treated him in kind. you only noticed the gesture when his cheeks reflected your own, warmth heating your palm.
and it was incredibly intimate, that the rover couldn't help but mirror your affection as well.
“doctor [y/n], do you perhaps know the medication to what I'm feeling for you right now?”
