Bruins - Senators Game One
Minutes before the game started, Bruins center David Krejci was a late scratch.  *insert heart palpitations and hysterics* He is a playoff monster and his absence created a Bruins blender of players for the bottom three lines. I honestly don’t even know what they became but it was mix and matching time for Cassidy. Spooner Stafford Beleskey Kuraly Moore Nash Vatrano Backes Schaller Now if it were me, I would do: Vatrano - Backes - Stafford Beleskey - Spooner - Kuraly Schaller - Moore - Nash
Nash and Moore have been creating some major energy and chemistry over the last month and I am loving. I am a big fan of the two and they had decent seasons.
Backes to me is still an unknown. His production has collapsed over the past couple of years and we gave him an insane contract. Stafford is an added boost to a rotating wing for Krejci. It has been an open slot since 2014, even though it took until the end of 2016 to realize they had Loui Eriksson who was playing with Chris Kelly???
I really want to like Spooner and Vatrano. I’m rooting for them. Spooner has had real difficult time at the dot. His playmaking can be silky, but lately it is literally nothing. Vatrano has that snap shot but the scoring drought will destroy any man’s confidence (believe I know, I kissed one girl in a two year span once). Ask Bobby Ryan or Corey Perry.
THINGS A NORMAL FAN WHO ONLY PLAYED INTRAMURAL FLOOR HOCKEY NOTICED WHILE WATCHING:
1: Chara looked much better than expected. He’s definitely not as mobile as he once was though.
2: McAvoy was actually good. It’s one game mind you but two weeks ago, a party meant Bud Light and standing in a frat house.
3: Playoff Marchand - Begeron are back and I’m giddy. They’ve had Recchi, Seguin, Jagr, Smith, and now Pastrnak on their line. This may be the best they’ve looked since Recchi.
4: That was Marchand’s first goal in the playoffs since Pittsburgh in 2013 ECF.
5: I like Kevan Miller... I’m embarrassed to say it but not really. He’s actually pretty good.
6: Ottawa is sooooo boring. No wonder their goal differential was -2 this season. Their goalies were probably sleeping by the time a puck got through the 1-3-1.
7: Winning this first game is actually an enormous deal and no one is saying that. Ottawa is shook. Bruins riding on a high, especially without Krug, Krejci and Carlo.
WHAT’S NEXT
Firstly, I despise this “undisclosed injury” stuff. I get it, maybe you don’t want the world to know and you can throw them off. Whatever man, tell me what is going on them. I’m stressing.
Secondly, the B’s are up 1-0. Claude and the Canadians are down 0-1. I loved Claude but also I think, maybe there could have been more parades since 2011? (honestly probably not, but definitely could’ve made the playoffs the last 2 years).
Finally, if Colin Miller, Krug and Carlo are unable to go, I say go 13 forwards. I honestly think Backes could be a good defenseman. That thought is also sort of ridiculous.
KTHXBYE
PS. I am a biased Bruins fan so I am real sorry if that shines through too much.
