    She pouted her lips as Kaito tightened his grip on her arm– He really was scared of this stuff. Red hues squinted as she moved her gaze from the astronaut to their darkened surroundings. The assassin stepped on the wooden boards and the creaking noise from her footsteps vibrated within the room. The two soon found themselves in front of a rather cryptic looking door. There was dust atop it, yet the sign nailed at the front seemed rather new. Of course, she wasn’t surprised to read its black ink of ‘Do Not Enter.’

    Maki could only assume Kaito would take this as a sign for them to leave. She stopped in place and looked up at him as she said, “Doesn’t this seem odd to you? This sign looks brand new. I wouldn’t doubt if it was placed here for no reason.” She paused for a moment, running her free hand atop the white board. Perhaps it was there for a mere scare factor. “Who exactly told you about this place again?”

Even though he still wanted to leave, he stayed for Maki. She kept refusing to leave, so he had to remain in this place for her. It was such a struggle just for him to keep standing. Though maybe unconsciously, he continued having the tight grip on her arm. It definitely didn’t help when they stood right in front of a door that says ‘do not enter’. That’s just asking for trouble! The sign wouldn’t be hanging there if there wasn’t something bad behind it! 

“...Someone must’ve come back through here.. and wanted to warn others... there’s something in there.” It sent shivers down his spine just looking at it. Still, he wanted to impress Maki, but that was no way possible with him acting like this. A few steps were taken to be almost on top of her, maybe a little overbearing. “Shinguji told me about it... we were talking about place with nice views.” He went silent for a moment before speaking again. “Hey, if you want to go through, I’m coming with you. I’ll be right beside you.” Sounding pretty confident for a guy who’s terrified of ghosts.

Oops, that totally hit the spot, huh? Not like he wasn’t used to Momota-chan’s pointless yelling - it was like he had an overdose of energy and it somehow wanted to get out through violent, loud urges. He reminded him of a primate sometimes, except more annoying. Really, he had no idea what someone as impressive and cool as Saihara-chan saw in that guy…  The weapon had long slid underneath Ouma’s table, and he returned to poking his food in an attempt to act as if he didn’t know what was going on. Even so, it was pretty obvious that at least half of his fellow students had seen where the blow had come from. 

It was only a matter of time until Momota-chan was up in his face about it. Until then he’d play innocent, his huge, cute eyes merely on him because he was making such a show out of it. What was with him and being unable to be quiet for once? 

How did anyone expect him to be quiet?! Why can’t you even enjoy a meal here without something going on?! If it had hit Saihara or Maki then maybe the actions would be a little different, but they aimed towards Kaito on purpose! They must have known he’d make at least a little bit of a scene. He’d grab a napkin to wipe his face, why leave that there. It’d just make the culprit even more satisfied. Once he looked around and saw Ouma just casually playing around with his plate, he knew something was up. That guy just had to be involved in this. 

“What do you think you’re doing?!” He yelled while marching over to Ouma’s seat. Saihara was trying to convince him to ignore it, but it had no influence. “I know that you have something to do with it!” Standing right before him, looking down on him.

He knew Kaito was right. It wasn’t the end of the world if he might stumble on his words a little; still, the boy still couldn’t help but be a little unnerved at the thought of possibly doing that. If he got laughed at or teased for it, he’d be convinced he could never live it down. Then again, maybe it was just his tendency to overthink a lot that was making him a lot more nervous than he probably needed to be right now.

“I-I guess you’re right… I mean, yeah, I am curious and would like to get to know them better…” The pat to his back helped to ease him a little. Honestly, if Kaito wasn’t here, he probably would have been retreating in a spot furthest from the other class.

“I’ll…still try to talk to at a few of them. Thank you, Momota-kun: sorry about me, sometimes….”

It’s hard to change things about you, it takes time and practice. Everyone has things they want to alter, you’ve gotta push forward, let nothing hold you back. Kaito knew this about Shuichi, he wasn’t going to become the most outgoing person in a single minute. The pat on the back might’ve helped a bit, but it wasn’t going to get him out there. Go in full force! Make yourself known to everyone else! 

“Of course! Come on, let’s go talk to them!” He spoke fairly loudly while pushing Shuichi forward towards them. Kaito figured maybe he needed more of a push towards them than a simple conversation. 

Other students from the classes watched them, probably curious what was happening. “Just introduce yourself, and say a fact!” That sounds like something you do on the first day of class.

Kokichi was about to open his mouth and declare with feigned panic that Kaito had finally lost his sanity and was now out to get innocent little him, when the astronaut suddenly stole his words out of his mouth. For a split second he blinked, vehemently denying the fact that Kaito had been one step ahead of him, before he replied in a cheerful manner:

“ Nishishi… maybe you shouldn’t be talking, y’know? I bet if I’d be the one running around with a sword and an intimidating costume like that, Momota-chan would totes get his panties in a twist! ”

That didn’t make much sense since he was talking to Kaito here, but that was exactly why he phrased it that way. He wouldn’t call the costume intimidating at all, it was rather fancy and looked surprisingly good on him, but never would he say that out loud. That aside, Kaito didn’t exactly seem like he was doing this out of his own accord, so Kokichi’s curiosity was piqued.

“ Anyway, is Momota-chan trying to feel better about himself or why are you wearing something over the top like that? Do you even know what that is? ”

“I wouldn’t be scared of you running around like this! Don’t go assuming things!” He had to defend himself, that is just a part of his personality. If someone is going to offend him, he’ll fight back. Kaito isn’t someone that would take insults straight on without saying anything. Sometimes this attitude has got everyone calling him an idiot, which is just wrong! 

Walking around in this was very awkward, it was out of character. The smile on Tsumugi’s face for his help made it feel worth it, but he still felt strange. She had practically kicked him out of her room to decide what cosplay she should wear, it’s not like Kaito would be any help in that anyways. He still didn’t know who he was supposed to be dressed as. If Kokichi knew who this was it’d just annoy him at this point. 

“I’m not wearing this around for fun, Tsumugi asked me for help and it’s not like I could say no. Of course I don’t know what it is, I’m taking it off as soon as she’s done!” He paused to sigh, this was too fancy for him. “Why don’t you go over there too, she’s probably got something for you to try on y’know.”

    She expected this kind of reaction from someone so terrified of ghosts and spirits (for whatever reason). Her face reddened as he suddenly grabbed her arm– His grip was rather tight, too. “W-What are you doing?! Don’t be such an idiot. Whatever happened to your ‘hero’ speech?” Maki tried to shake him off, but Kaito’s trembling hands held on well to the assassin’s arms. She could easily escape, but she opted to comply for now. After all, people like him just wouldn’t listen sometimes. It was irritating, but that was merely his nature.

    Maki took a few steps forward, pulling at her arm as an indicator for the astronaut to follow. “Are you coming or what? I’m not dragging you all the way there. Move your feet or I’m going alone.” She didn’t believe in anything Shinguuji said about this house– Frankly, it wouldn’t surprise her if he said that to get a reaction out of someone so terrified of anything unidentifiable like a ghoul.

He couldn’t help it alright?! Just being in the area of a creepy house like this usually gave him a rotten feeling, but walking around inside just made it entirely worse! “I’m not! I..I’m still acting like one...just not here!” Yeah, right. Kaitos grip onto Maki’s arm was fairly strong, he had no intention of letting go. Can you imagine what would happen to him alone here? He’d never make it out in one piece. 

“I’m coming...” Feet took a few small steps, getting closer to Maki. As they slowly moved deeper into the house he took short steps, staying nearby to hers. He wasn’t letting go of her arm, but didn’t want there to be a lot of distance between them. Didn’t want to make her frustrated either. Kaito just didn’t understand why she wanted to stay here given the circumstances. “Just don’t leave my side, Maki Roll.”

Field trips, those small excursions that a whole class would go to together. They were usually mandatory or a legitimate reason needed to be used as an excuse. Apparently this was a field trip that multiple classes from Hope’s Peak were going on. That meant there would be a ton of high school students roaming around. Kaito wasn’t too familiar with everyone from the other classes, it was hard to meet them all.

His eyes were almost sparkling when he heard they were going to a science center. That meant there would be astronomy there! Seeing the stars would always make him feel great! So, as soon as they arrived he headed quickly to the astronomy section. 

“Isn’t it amazing? There are so many stars out there that need to be explored.” He said to the girl next to him. His eyes were staring at the wall display that showed many different facts about them.

Who would have guessed? This cherry tomato-shooting gun Iruma-chan had developed for him only a few days ago had a better range than expected! Well, it wasn't a cherry tomato exclusive gun, it just so happened to be loaded with some right now. He was sitting at least three tables away from him in the dining hall, and yet the overly ripe fruit hit his favorite classmate straight between his eyes. It exploded right there too and well the gun disappeared back under Ouma's table. Nobody saw that.

There Kaito is, enjoying a delicious meal. You have to eat with everyone else, otherwise nobody’s going to try and get along with each other. He sat besides Shuichi and Maki as they all ate. It was pretty peaceful, they were having small conversations while eating. He thought that this was going to be a meal where nothing annoying happened. Too late. 

“What the hell?!” He yelled as he stood up when he got hit in the face. Come on! He was just trying to eat and then stuff like this has to happen! Eyes stared in the direction of Ouma, who else would think it’d be funny to do this to him.

Sure, being in school all day could prove to be pretty boring when there was nothing else to do aside from schoolwork but well, part of Amami couldn’t really fully trust some of the school equipment. He had seen some weird things on his travels and had met some odd people along the way as well, so he put some stock into his instincts at least. While the casino on campus wasn’t exactly as dangerous as a real one could be, addiction was all the same regardless of the location and the medium. That being said, maybe Momota had a point – there wasn’t anything wrong with a game or two in the long run. Maybe he could be the other boy’s impulse control too if things were starting to get out of hand. 

“Not much I guess. Alright though, a game sounds interesting but well, don’t think you need me to tell you to watch yourself, yeah? Stuff like this can be kinda unassuming, but it’ll catch up on you quick – not to be a spoilsport, haha.”

His track record with casino games wasn’t the best, actually it was terrible. They would never go in the order for him, whoever he was playing against would beat him. Even at the academy, when they played the game downstairs, he lost. He even tried using Ryoma’s trick but it didn’t help! Maybe he just had a bad streak, and now it’s all gone! You have to get over the bad patch for it to get better once again. That’s why he has to try again, this time he’ll do great! Still, Kaito didn’t know that Rantaro would worry so much about him over this. 

“You don’t have to worry about me! I’ve learned from the past, I’m going in strong! After all, I’m Kaito Momota, Luminary of the Stars, I can’t just keep loosing every time!”

—-; “You know the rules about night time, Kaito. I suggest you wait until tomorrow to do… whatever you are going to do.”

—-; {While it wasn’t prohibited of them to wander around during night time, the previous murder did indeed take place at night. To prevent any further killings from happening during those hours, the student council put in a rule that nobody is allowed to be out during night time. The group is rather strict about enforcing rules.}

—-; “Nobody is allowed to be out at night time. No. Exceptions.”

Due to all of the talk lately, Kaito hasn’t felt his best. Even just thinking about the topic makes him feel a bit weaker. Though, from the looks of it while Kaito was in his room things changed slightly. The ‘student council’ was really taking control of the academy, huh? 

“I’ve been inside all day... I wasn’t gonna do anything to bother you.. But, how come you guys can walk around at night time then? ...You said no exceptions right?”

She did sound a little frightening, he’s probably fighting a loosing battle here.

Honestly, Saihara didn’t have a clue as to what was going on here either. They had been deliberating their next step within the Ultimate Academy now that another floor had been unlocked for their investigative needs… When the Monokubs piloting their assigned Exisals suddenly decided to crash their little breakfast gathering over in the dining hall. Why were they attacking all of the sudden?!

Everyone had split up, of course, resulting in the Exisals scattering across the academy. Before Saihara had the chance to even think about where the best place to hide was, Momota was grabbing his arm and yanking him away to get out of an Exisal’s way. Where they were going, Saihara had no idea… But Momota being a faster, more agile runner than he was was a pretty compelling reason to let himself get dragged.

Where the Ultimate Astronaut excelled in athletics, however, he didn’t exceed so much in the thinking ahead part. This was his plan? Before he knew it, Saihara was practically stuffed into a small, dusty closet. The air was so stale… It felt like it hadn’t been open in years. And maybe it hadn’t. It was also… really dark. Saihara couldn’t even see in front of him, but regardless, they were safe – for now, at least. Saihara had to give credit where credit was due.

“Well, it may not be the most comfortable of situations, but… What matters is that we’re out of the Exisals’ way. I just can’t even begin to imagine what on earth set the Monokubs off to go rampaging like that. Monokuma did mention that a motive would be announced this morning, but… I wonder… Are the Monokubs going to keep causing chaos until…?” Until someone murders? No, it was too soon to say without any information. For now, they just really needed to see. “A light, we need a light… Ah, that’s right!” At that, Saihara pulled out his Monopad and turned it on, lighting the inside of the closet somewhat. Then, Saihara let out a resigned sigh at the current situation.

Seeing them run around like that left an unsettling feeling. Even though Kaito has been one of the people that’s challenged them countless times, they were a formidable enemy. It doesn’t help that there’s more than one running around, it’s too easy for them all to get separated. Still, there’s no way he’s gonna back down from this fight! He’s just gotta think up a plan, something that’ll for sure work out. So, it seems the closet is the place to draw one up.  It may be a bit crammed, but it’ll work for it’s purpose.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if they kept this up, they’re always screwing around with us. Wasn’t this a great place to go to?” Sure, it was very dusty but Kaito felt a little pride in successfully getting them out of the way. He wasn’t just going to leave Saihara out there by himself, he was his sidekick after all. 

“Agh!” He said loudly in response to the light somewhat illuminating the room. It really offset his eyes, they were just getting accustomed to the dark. Good thing Saihara was here, Kaito wouldn’t have thought to use the monopad for light. Saihara always thought of the small details that’ll help them. 

“If they’re gonna show us a motive then why keep chasing us? Unless, this is the motive! Chase us all around until one of us can’t take it anymore y’know?” Then he did his signature movement with both his hands hitting each other in front of him with a more determined face. “If that’s it then we’ve gotta stop them, we can’t let them do what they wan.” He peered through a tiny gap to see if the Exisals were still roaming the area. They would have to go find their classmates, and warn them do nobody gets caught.

    It was annoying– The way he was acting much contradicted her own demeanor to the situation. She wasn’t scared of ‘haunted houses’ or anything akin to one, but Kaito clearly had an issue with anything involving ghosts. She let out a sigh as he spoke, bringing her arms back to cross over her chest as she moved her piercing red gaze from the big, open space to the astronaut.

    “If you dislike it that much, you should’ve done your research. It’s stupid to leave now when we’ve already bothered to come here. Stay outside if you really want. I don’t care. But.. I’m going in.” It wasn’t even about the telescope, to her. She wasn’t as fascinated by astronomy as him, but Maki wasn’t interested in quarreling outside when it wasn’t necessary.

    Thus, the assassin stepped in further by herself and kept her back turned to Kaito as she walked forward. Her steps were fairly slow on purpose– She had a feeling he wouldn’t want to be left there alone and would end up following her. Maki paused in her tracks momentarily, abruptly turning around to add, “If you’re not going to come, then I’m heading off. I’m not responsible if you end up here by yourself.”

They must’ve tricked him! Korekiyo knew that this place was like this when he suggested it! Kaito fell completely into their trap! When he asked for idea, he genuinely thought everyone would help. This would’ve been so much better if everyone didn’t know his problem with ghosts... not like they’re real anyways. 

“You can’t be serious...” His face continuing to grow paler by the minute. Maki knew that he got like this, and yet she insisted on going into this place. Stomach pains, feeling light headed, and more symptoms arose because of this.

“I’m.. Kaito Momota, Luminary of the Stars... something like this... is no problem.. f..for me...” Those may have been his words, but his actions wanted to be the opposite. He walked in after Maki, what if something bad happened to her in this place? He can’t let that happen. Anyways, he still grabbed onto her arm for dear life once reaching her, no way is he walking by himself. If his body will even let him continue walking.

    “Obviously I go to the beach to show off my sexy body, but you know what else is entertaining as fuck? People watching! You see that guy over there with the sunglasses? He’s definitely hiding his wandering eyes with that shit! And he could use a better pair too, buuut that’s another story. Oh.. What about that couple underneath that umbrella? Looks like things are getting heated! Hyahaha! It’s a good thing I brought my newest invention. I call it.. The ‘Are you really in love?’ machine!”

“You really could mess up relationships with inventions like that. Not everyone falls instantly in love, you’ve gotta give people some time. Don’t go around screwing things up for people just because you’re bored!”
