“Oh Peridot....”
“There are worse things than dying.”
“You’re just a lap dog.”
“What was that? I don’t believe I heard what you were saying.”
“How about coming a little closer and repeating yourself, olivine.”

“Don’t you think your actions are reckless?”
“Pffft, of course not. All that matters in the end is victory and success - everything that happens along the way is hardly any of my concern.”
“Whoever gets hurt, whoever gets damaged or cracked beyond repair? The ends justify my means, and I will always reach my goal.”

“You’re actually afraid to be alone, aren’t you?”
“…never. I’ve always been alone, so why would I suddenly become afraid of it?”
“Plus I’m usually surrounded by some sort of lesser lap Gems. Barking at my heels, following my orders. I’m never alone, so…”’
“….it’s getting too quiet sometimes. I don’t like the lack of pull against me….”

“….no. I’m not afraid of anything or anyone.”
“No one…no one can hold me down anymore.”

The best thing, or admitted only good thing about the hive, was that it always seemed to bring Jasper to the people she wanted to see the most. Case in point, she’d been (generally) minding her own business of being angry when something bumped into her from behind. The massive Quartz didn’t even shift on her feet, and instead responded to the collision by looking over her shoulder.
“.....you. What do you want, runt?”
Jasper was almost content to ignore the question posed by Amethyst yet she felt the need to answer anyway. Wasn’t it the responsibility of the far more superior Gems to educate their lessers, even if they didn’t deserve it? If she didn’t like how Amethyst responded she could always pummel her into the ground. “I’ve always been here. Woke up here, separated from that....from Lapis.”
@nosedquartz
If she learned one thing from Hive City so far, it was that nothing should be considered normal. She was constantly at risk of running into improbable situations…
Including dashing head-first into the backside of Jasper.
❝Urgh!❞ she sputtered the sound while scrambling away from the larger quartz. It was no use trying to hide or feign innocence, therefore she opted to cross her arms in defense and hoped for the best. ❝Wha—What are you doing here?!❞

That was the most direct answer Luke’s ever gotten in the history of ever. And an odd part of himself found that… admirable, at least. But that meant nothing as she kept speaking; clearly wanting to do the same to him. He forces a weak smile, shaking his head.

“I think I’m good, thanks.” he continues, shifting his gaze away from the soul in the trash and back to her. “I’m just wondering if you had anything better to do– because if it is, that’s lame.”
“What I do is my own business. There is nothing in this miserable hive of a city that can tell me otherwise.” Jasper motioned to the area around them, as if whomever was in charge just happened to be right there. “So what power do you have to ask my otherwise, huh? You thinking you can make me stop?”
When this specific Quartz wanted to move there was nothing that could get in her way. Part of her hoped it wanted to fight, so she could smash it into the ground and let off some steam. All this being non-violently idle was getting to her.

“What the…..what kind of creature are you?”
A creature in a town? This was new, and it was something more adapt to looking like a person by the way it looks like it. Except for the nose, it was almost like a rock. Was this some event boss?
“Do you speak?”
“....” Of course Jasper was able to speak, what sort of pointless question was that? She thought about not answering, probably from spite, but wouldn’t that just make whatever this black-red thing thought itself to be feel like it was correct? There was no way she’d allow that.
“I do speak, just not to things like you.”

“.......nerd.”
Jasper didn’t know who or what this thing was, but she knew a nerd when she saw it.
“Perhaps you should try the library. It is quiet and has very few visitors this time of day.”
