I'm a little confused at the manga ending of Slam Dunk. It wasn't animated in the movie. These gays confuse me because no way the author made a gay-ish ending like this, right? Spoilers and manga ending images under the cut:

Did Sakuragi hallucinate Rukawa running in front of him with an All Japan shirt (he dreams about him a lot, another imaginary Rukawa isn't out of place) or was the All Japan Junior camp right next to Sakuragi's rehabilitation center? What are these two doing together at the same-ish place at the end of the manga?

Inoue on Kogure's cameo in REAL

In one of the Slam Dunk kanzenban volumes, the inside cover has this interesting sketch by Inoue that ties in Slam Dunk and REAL (one of his other basketball mangas).

Kogure's going 「ははは　リアルにもでちゃった」　(which basically translates to "hahaha... and I've even/also appeared in REAL") and Sakuragi's in the background looking a little mad/jealous, saying 「ずるいぞ」 ("that's not fair").

Which means, the guy appearing behind Nomiya on page 92 of REAL's volume 1 is indeed Kogure ;)

Kiminobu Kogure-The Best Boy® in Slam Dunk

So I’m finally going to do a thread on why I think Kogure is such a terrific character, and why he’s my personal favorite character in the series. 

*CONTAINS SPOILERS, and will focus on the manga to keep everyone on the same page since the anime gives us even MORE content that I won’t go into right now. Also, some of this is just my interpretation of him and not explicitly canon, so totally fine not to agree with any of this*
