I noted earlier this week that Palestinian human rights is horrendous and a Palestinian state would be a disaster for the Palestinians themselves. This is a fact. But, as I showed, no one is interested in this fact - practically no one even researches Palestinian human rights abuses and corruption.
These should be relevant facts in any discussion about recognizing a Palestinian state, as it would be for any other state, but they are completely absent. The moves towards Western nations recognizing a Palestinian stare are not positioned as anything other than punishment of Israel for its role in a perceived humanitarian disaster in Gaza.
But while many (hardly all) Gazans are indeed suffering, it isn't because of Israel. Israel has done more to feed enemy civilians than any nation in history. The facts show that most aid is being stolen, that Hamas is weaponizing aid, that Hamas will endanger civilians for political gain, and that Hamas controls the information about casualties and hunger coming out of Gaza.
The media is ignoring these facts. The reason? Because the narrative is more important than the facts, yet the medias still frames its reporting as fact-based and not narrative-driven. The facts of Palestinian human rights violations, Palestinian support for terror in every poll, Palestinian Authority corruption, Hamas stealing aid, Hamas using human shields and fomenting riots to force violence at aid sites - all of these are well documented but violate the narrative of Israeli evil.
The narrative is antisemitic.
But too many people are attracted to antisemitic narratives that they will not demand the same standards of objectivity that they pretend to uphold.
Up until recently, governments understood the difference between narrative reporting and objective facts. But under the tsunami of antisemitic lies, facilitated by the UN and human rights NGOs, together with coordinated violent anti-Israel demonstrations and concern over rising extremism in their own countries, together with latent antisemitism that has never really gone away, they have started to swallow and embrace the lies that have been broadcast non-stop since October 7.
Hence, supporting a Palestinian state without scrutiny. Hence, blaming Israel for food shortages that are directly the result of Hamas policies. Hence, the deliciousness of accusing the Jewish state of genocide, of turning into the Nazis that tried to destroy the Jews as policy.
For sure, Israel's public relations efforts have been execrable. But that is only part of the problem when the world assumes everything Jews say are a lie.
The narrative is the driving force for which facts are believed and which are discarded. The world has fallen for the lie that the media and NGOs are objective. The desire for a simple explanation makes antisemitism more attractive than at any time since the 1940s.
Until we restore a distinction between narrative and fact, and hold moral claims to account, antisemitism will continue to wear the mask of virtue - and the decisions made by world leaders will lead to disaster.

it wouldn't matter if hamas cured every illness the hostages already had & sent them off with a complimentary rolex watch. the zionists will always accuse them of 39681496 things they didn't do & kill random children about it.

A 52-year-old French tourist was attacked by a mob near Milan, Italy, on Sunday while accompanied by his 6-year-old son. The man and his son were wearing kippahs (Jewish religious head coverings) when the mob at a service station began hurling insults and chanting “Free Palestine.” Later, the mob pushed the father and kicked him, stopping only when he called the police. Authorities are investigating the incident as a hate crime.
The man had dropped off his daughter and son-in-law in Milan and was en route to Paris when he was attacked. The incident began when a service-station cashier yelled, “Free Palestine,” and others shouted, “Go back to your country, murderers,” and “You’ll end up in hell sooner or later.” The father recorded a video of the shouting, and many more people joined in. He and his son went to the bathroom, but at least three people pushed him and tried to force him out. He fell to the ground, and someone kicked him in the stomach; he dodged another blow to his face. His son was away from the scuffle, held safely by a woman.

Best way to stop people from moving back to Israel?
Stop killing them where they live now. Offer descendants of those who lost their homes and villages in the thousands of historical pogroms recompense and citizenship.
Like Spain did, that is, until people from Israel actually started taking them up on the offer. Then cut off any diplomatic ties with Israel and you won't have to live up to what you did.

On the current discourse surrounding starvation in Gaza and how the pro-Israel crowd is doing more damage than good.
A thread.
Here’s the thing: there is some starvation in Gaza. It is possible that some people are dying from hunger. Making fun of it as if it’s not happening is absolutely the wrong way to go about it.
This is horrible messaging & makes everyone in Israel and Jews overall look horrible.
Yes, our enemies lie. Yes, our enemies mock. Yes, our enemies are callous.
And yes, There are obese people in Gaza. There is aid distributed daily in Gaza. There are restaurants opened in Gaza. There are markets full of food in Gaza.
You are missing the point.
When someone posts a picture of a starving child (whether the picture is from Gaza or not, and whether the child really is starving or suffers from an unrelated disease) and you mock them, you look like a monster to the rest of the world who have bought into the propaganda.
Doesn’t matter that you’re doing it because you believe (most likely rightly so) that it’s propaganda. They don’t believe it is, and so they perceive you as pointing and laughing at people who are currently being starved to death.
Why would they listen to you after that?
Same thing with posting pictures of Gazans who are obese, even if the clash between the picture (overweight) and what they are saying (“we’re starving!”) is comical.
They don’t see someone well fed, they see someone saying they are starving, and you mocking them.
You want to counteract the narrative?
Start by having compassion and saying that yes, if people are starving, it’s horrible.
Then, point out how many aid trucks are coming in daily. Boost accounts like @imshin showing restaurants and markets operating in Gaza, for starters.
@imshin Point out that the people who are starving in Gaza are both poor and not connected to Hamas. The people who can afford to eat are perfectly fine, and so are Hamas members. Those who are struggling with food are the ones who are neither connected to them nor rich.
@imshin Then hammer home the point that if you don’t want your average Gazan to be struggling for food (though meals are distributed by the GHF and aid by Israel), then all Hamas has to do is surrender and release the hostages, and this can all end.
Start making it about Hamas.
Point out that the second Hamas lays down arms & release the hostages, it would end, and then not only the rich and affluent in Gaza would have stocked pantries and eat in restaurants, but regular Gazans too.
So, please, stop shooting yourselves (and the rest of us) in the foot.

Have you noticed you can just spread rumors that a group of Jews who were assaulted were chanting gross anti Palestine stuff with no evidence and suddenly everyone thinks the Jews deserved it.

Here are two statements that have to coexist with each other.
“How the Israeli government is handling aid in the Gaza Strip, and the situation in general of both Palestinians and Israelis hostages is abhorrent, and should be talked about.”
Has to go along with.
“Even if you hate what the Israeli government is doing, which most Jews do, wether you want to believe it or not, does not give you a pass to attack random Israelis and Diaspora Jews under the guise of being Palestinian rights.”

Islam doesn’t do this horrible stuff, stop saying “religion” when you mean “Christianity and Judaism”
majority Muslim nations are not supportive of same sex marriage, the big three all have strong homophobic elements for obvious structural reasons and society gets better when the religions have less power over civic institutions.

I feel like this should have a trigger warning, but I can’t articulate what for, I have no words.

Lucy is a Holocaust survivor, I’ve shared posts from her and her story before. it is so painful knowing she and other survivors have to witness this.
reading the hatred and the Holocaust denial online in comments and tweets is one thing, but I can’t describe the visceral reaction I had seeing and hearing this coming directly from people’s mouths. beyond being physically nauseating, a cold ache of fear and despair crept in. it is unfathomable that people say and think what’s on display here.
the huge grin the host has as his guest says that very obviously the Jewish people did something that caused Hitler to validly want to kill them all, and the further glee exhibited the deeper it goes, when the truth comes out - that they think he was right, and the world still has an imperative to kill us all because it’s the Jews’ fault that “the world is collapsing.”
“I’m telling you - how do we take them down? gotta kill the motherf*ckers.”
“(Hitler) did what he had to do. he was trying to save the world.”
this isn’t Holocaust denial, by the way, even with the blame they’re putting on its six million Jewish victims. they are very clearly acknowledging that it happened - and that it wasn’t enough, and they want it to happen again.
