Eric didn't seem entirely convinced, but he didn't make any further comments about it. He just turned his head away, watching for any potential threats. It was easy to see that, without any big issues on the horizon, he was more tense than usual.
Aarin, on the other hand, was more relaxed. His mentality was that is Serenity trusted Julian enough to send him here, then he was someone who could be trusted.
"Makes sense," he finally said, giving Julian a relaxed smile. "Good on you for wanting to change. Takes a lot of self-reflection and courage to be able to do that." He would know that, first-hand.
Julian nodded and pulled out his scanner to try to find Wily... And frowned. "Oh you have got to be kidding me." Julian grumbled. "He's done what I've done and modified himself to the point where he's almost impossible to detect with biosigns. And his energy signature might as well be identical to his machines... Wonderful."
"Nacht!" The Director of Security showed up, Shadow (The hedgehog) Man appeared. <Yes, Father?>
"Lead the SWAT-Bots and sweep the tower. Start at whatever bottom floors he may have and go up. Make sure to leave a battalion on each floor so he doesn't try to go back to a floor you clear. I want him caught and I want his head, core and any black boxes of his."
<Yes, Father.> Nacht nodded and 'Chaos Controlled' out of sight.
"....Do you want to see Wily die? Or would you be satisfied if I simply imprisoned him? Because at this point, I don't know what I'd like to do...."

"Yeah, that sounds like Serenity." Aarin let out a small chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck. "She always did care about the City, even for as flawed as it is."
No matter how long she'd been away, it seemed like the core of who she was hadn't changed at all. Something Aarin could take some comfort in, even if she wasn't entirely the same as she had been before.
"You mentioned wantin' to change." Eric spoke up, surprisingly, though he kept his distance from Julian. He didn't fully trust the man yet. "What pushed you towards makin' that choice?"
Wonderful."

Well, the "open book" he seemed to be was a good sign. It meant that Serenity had known what she was doing when sending Julian their way.
And speaking of, "How, uh... how exactly did you two meet?" That was what he was hung up on. "Was it one of those portals, or did you come here and we didn't know about it?"
Wonderful."

Send my muse a truth and a dare!
They have to pick one or the other, no backing out!
If they pick truth they must answer it with 100% honesty no matter what! Meanwhile, if they pick dare they have to go through with it no matter how embarrassing!

"Because a lot of people are inherently horny." Something Rusty didn't fully understand, given his history on the topic. "Any excuse to act a fool is one they'll gladly use."
"Why is Sinday starting early?-"

One week.
One solid, uninterrupted week of deliberation and cross-examinations. One torturous, snail-paced week of presented evidence and argumentative conversations. One uncomfortable week spent in the Tower overnight (because having both parties in a case spend the night in an oppressive atmosphere is in no way a stupid law that needs to be revisited or done away with.)
One week away from her boys, and she was never more thankful to hear the off-tone bell above the front door go off when she stepped across the threshold.
Sapphyra had hated every single moment of being there, and the exhaustion showed in her body. Her shoulders were sagging far too much, bags had started to form under her eyes, and she had ended up going mute from how drained she was.
Rusty shut the door behind him, making sure to lock it before he turned to Sapphyra. He could tell she was struggling, despite his constant dedication to ensuring she was protected from her abuser.
He stepped towards her, gently turning her body towards his before pulling her into a gentle yet firm embrace. It only took a second for her to melt against him, a heavy but shaky sigh of relief causing her whole body to sag.
She would never have to deal with Conroy ever again.

[hey, sorry for my absence
for a bit of context, i was in a car accident back in November (no one was seriously hurt and we all walked away from it), but in the process my car was T-boned, and... well, totaled
with me driving for a majority of my work, means that i've been out of a job since then. and going so long with little to no chances to get out of the house has left me less motivated to write or be creative in any capacity
i'm currently working with OVR (since i'm disabled and me holding a job is directly linked to me being disabled) to help me get a job again, but it's a slow process, so it might not even be for a couple months yet that i even see a potential job opportunity
long story short: replies may or may not be sporadic, as with activity on this blog, as i ironically do most of my creative thinking while doing something that isn't creative at all]

Well, he figured as much. It was why knowing when Wily was going to do anything was such a hard thing to do. The appearance of Nacht did make him lose what he was going to say for a minute, because he could see where a chameleon-type Machine would be good at stealth, but... this?
"Uh..." He blinked himself back to his senses. If Eric found out about these odd Machines, he'd probably have a lot to say about them. "Honestly, we hadn't planned that far ahead, given that we expected this to take a few more, uh... years. So whatever you wanna do is fine by us."
Wonderful."

Aarin was rather thankful that Eric wasn't around, because he knew the older Rebel would have something to say about the Sons going back to the Tower. Given that every single time they went there, it ended with capture, torture and/or death...
"Yeah, I think at least one of them would pass on the offer." Aarin rubbed the back of his neck. "Probably the safest bet is to have these Machines-" He motioned to the SWAT-Bots still with Julian. "-conduct a sweep of each floor until they corner Wily somewhere. There's only so many places he could hide."
Julian would march at the front as they approached the Northern District. "Look. I've made my share of mistakes, back home. This... is one of the many things I'm doing in an effort to make up for them all. I'm going to be spending the rest of my life making those mistakes right." He didn't like being judged without someone knowing the full story. By all means, hate him... But only when you knew all the reasons why.
"Keep those Districts on lockdown and be ready to move on the Northern District on my command. We'll bust through at the same time and blitzkrieg Wily's forces."

Eric didn't say anything, though it was hard to tell where his focus actually was during all of this. By the time any potential threat could have reached them, they were already taken down by the forces Julian had brought with him.
It almost made this too easy, and he wasn't sure he liked it.
By the time they'd made it to the Central Plaza, where Aarin had been hiding, the younger Rebel hopped down from the tree branch he'd been sitting on. Much like Eric, he also seemed hesitant about Julian's methods, but he was a bit more open-minded than the elder.
"So what's your plan to get to Wily?" Aarin was the first to break the silence, noting how Eric decided to do a sweep of the parameter - old habits. "With what's going on now, there's no way in hell he's gonna make a public appearance just to talk to you."
Julian would march at the front as they approached the Northern District. "Look. I've made my share of mistakes, back home. This... is one of the many things I'm doing in an effort to make up for them all. I'm going to be spending the rest of my life making those mistakes right." "Ah, so you don't make it a habit," Eric muttered, though he didn't sound amused at all. "Not sure if that's s'posed to be comfortin' at all."
He was waiting for any information from inside the City that would indicate it was safe for the actual Rebellion members to enter, which was something that Aarin was monitoring from his lookout point in South District. "How're things looking down there? I see you guys moving in East and West."
"West District is secured," Mega's voice chimed in first, though he didn't sound happy about this at all. It wasn't how he had wanted to free the City, but he would take what he could get.
Aarin nodded, a bit concerned that the other Son hadn't responded. He was about to radio him when the voice came through: "East District secured. Snipers disabled, civilians in their homes."
Finally, they could proceed. He switched the communicator to the frequency Eric was on. "We got the all clear, proceed when ready."
Eric muttered something along the lines of "Finally," before he stood up and began to lead the few front line fighters the Rebellion had into the City.
"I am Doctor Julian Ivo Robotnik of The House of Ivo. Ruler of half the planet of Mobius and CEO of Robotnik Industries. I told you, you now have two seconds to respond to my demand. I gave Wily his one chance. Time to kick his shit in."

"Go."
Within the same couple of seconds, all three of the gates were blown open by the explosives set up by the bomb techs. The regular broadcast was replaced with an emergency transmission: "ATTENTION: EMERGENCY CURFEW IS IN EFFECT. PLEASE RETURN TO YOUR HOMES IMMEDIATELY-"
Metal threw both saw blades towards Julian, a snarl hidden beneath the mask he wore; Elec sent out a warning ping for all Snipers to be on the lookout for any opposing forces entering the City before shooting lightning bolts towards their opponent as well.
Meanwhile, all three gates were breached by the SWAT-Bots Julian had left for the Rebellion and the Sons of Light, moving through their respective districts and taking out any Wily Machines they came across.
