“Hell yeah dude! Let’s wreck this joint!” She laughed loudly picking up the red gem and raising her over her head. She grinned running out of her room and out of the temple. After a few minutes they reached the boardwalk and she set her down.  “Where do ya wanna go first?”

Carnelian laughed loudly and happily as Amethyst picked her up and took off. Just like she did when she first met her sister! She plopped down onto the boardwalk with an excited expression,

“ANYWHERE!!!” She shouts excitedly, “What’s the best place ya got!? I REALLY want to use that spin again! Destroy something!” She smirked widely, punching the inside of her palm with her fist.

She pulled a daring risk, stealing one while no one watched Holly Blue tend to their guests... After realizing it was so easy to slip right under her nose. "Oh man, I made it!" She shouts loudly, her voice echoing through area.

Amethyst had been walking through the kindergarten for awhile now. After meeting her sisters she really wanted to go back to her old home and find some of their holes. She was laying in her hole when she heard someone well. She quickly jumped out and summoned her weapon.   “Hello?” She shouted.  "If it’s you homeworld creeps get lost or you’re gonna have to deal with me!”

“The relief of not being bullied by Holly Blue?” She raised an eyebrow at her friend, whom she considered her best out of anyone there. “But because I’m such a nice friend, I can agree to HELP you with your chores... But I don’t feel like doing them all alone.” She crossed her arms, sticking out her own tongue.

Skinny smirked, seeming amused by the other’s irritation. “Course I am. That’s what friends are for, right?” Her smirk widened to a grin as she leaned back against the wall behind her.

“Well, sure! You can talk to me about it! But I’m gonna let you in on a little secret, Jay-Ten... I know they tell ya it’s not okay to feel hurt, but really... It’s normal! Even we feel ‘hurt’ sometimes.”

She smiled gently, giving Jay-Ten a big hug, “But I can help you feel better! Let’s spend some quality time together.”

“I am not feeling as hurt… but I still am a little hurt..” She looked at Carnelian. “So if I talk to you.. Then the rest of the hurt will go away and leave my inside alone, right?”

She really loved her family but she always felt like she didn’t belong with them. They were all what they were supposed to be. Rose in particular was everything she ever wanted to be. She guessed that’s part of the reason she looked up to her so much. But now things were different. She had a family who was just like her. They knew what it felt like to be defective and they embraced all their imperfections.

Amethyst laughed happily and hugged the red quartz tightly.  “Thanks. I feel like one of you guys now. I finally belong and it’s all thanks to you guys.” She smiled tears running down her cheeks.

“You ARE one of us!” Carnelian laughed, giving Amethyst a tight hug. Then she wipes her sisters tears away with a loving smile. “I already love it here, and I can’t WAIT for you to show me all the cool places and awesome things to do around here! And if I can help it, I won’t leave your side.” She sniffed, wiping away tears of her own,

“I’m sorry it took so long for us to be reunited... They took us away before you were out and- We never came back. Everything went down hill from there, and the war began. I can say... It’s SO MUCH COOLER than I remember it being!” She jumped up, throwing her arms in the air, “So, come on sis! Let’s cause some mischief together!”

“Wow... Thank you, Pearl.” Carnelian smiled warmly, never had any Gem besides her sisters said something so kind to her. Her Diamond was- but those days are over. Forever. The thought made her emotional, but she tried to hide the signs of it. She didn’t want to cry in front of Pearl- She couldn’t. Though in Homeworld standards, most would agree she was a defective Quartz, just hearing from anyone who thought different was really, really nice.

“You know.. I’ve always wanted to go to Earth. To stay there... This place doesn’t feel like home and I know it never will. You know? Probably not... I just feel like there’s something better for me, and my sisters. And we have a sister- back on Earth. An Amethyst- She looks a lot like me. I’m taller though!” She thought about what Blue had said about her Diamond... She supposed it was something that would provoke worry. Carnelian knew through the vine how devastated Blue was about Pink... She gazed around to make sure Holly wasn’t watching,

“Geez... Blue I’m not sure where Holly could’a gone.. She WAS around here just a few minutes ago. Do you maybe want to hang around with me until she comes along? I’m not sure when that will be and I’m not sure when you’ve gotta make it back to our Diamond- but,” She smiled, “If you want the company... I could give you an actual tour? And not walk around acting like you’re a servant. You deserve better. I don’t think you’re just a Pearl.”

The Pearl listened to her calmly as they worked, making sure not to let the red gem run…… she was smiling a bit though…… it was nice to have somegem to talk to…… well she had Yellow Diamonds Pearl……. but sometimes they didn’t get to see one another much. Blue hated those times frames, they were lonely. She stopped as the other apologized and shook her head no.

“don’t be sorry……. I’ve seen what happenes here when nogem else is looking……. that’s the thing about being a pearl……. most gems don’t see you even when they look right at you……. we’re basically invisible…….. it has its perks sometimes……. if I had more power or leeway……. I’d at least find a better supervisor for you all but……. that isn’t an option I exactly have I’m afraid……. I’m just a pearl…….. you do deserve better though…….. I see a lot around here when we visit….. Blue Diamond likes time to herself when we’re here…….. so she dismisses me to handle things…….. she’s been doing that more lately and I worry for her……..” She replied softly. She may have been a pearl and her Diamond was her owner…….. but she still cared about Blue Diamond, that much is clear…….. it seemed equivalent to that of a child and their aging mother……. she was good at her job……. and she enjoyed what she did. “……. if it helps? You’re not defective……. a pearl I knew a long time ago……. back when we were still at war with the crystal gems…….. she used to talk about everygem being the same even if they all looked different…….. for her that was the correct way to live life……. I don’t think I could live under a different diamond…… I belong to Blue Diamond……. I couldn’t imagine working under anygem else…….. you’re all amazing……… anygem with a connection to earth seems to be that way……. your planet….. and the creatures there……. you all adapt to the situation at hand and learn to meet it fearlessly and with unwavering confidence……”

The blue gem looked out into space almost seeming lost in her own mind.

“…… I think that’s amazing…… most homeworld gems could never do that…… in some ways……. you’re all better than the rest of us…… if anything you should be respected…… not shamed……. it’s a beautiful thing…… the ability to adjust and change…..” She sighed softly turning back to the other gem in an almost bittersweet manner. “Don’t you think?”

Carnelian listened carefully as Blue Pearl spoke. She sounds so genuine... And kind... That alone was a breath of fresh air for the little Gem. She sighed heavily as she finished, thinking about the conversation. It was true, she feared Holly Blue Agate- With her life. She terrified the little Gem, not to mention... Abused her and all of her sisters daily. She was aware that was her role but... It didn’t make it feel any better. Her smile slightly fades before she begins to speak again,

“I wish you could see what happens here, beyond the humans, beyond the kind outlook of our former Diamond... Rest in peace. Holly Blue really hates us and for that... We try to make her life hell when she’s not looking. But she retaliates quite often, and even when something wasn’t our fault- We take blame anyway. A few of us... There were more of us at one point. In anger, sometimes she loses it and she cracked them- After that, there’s really nothing that can be done without healing powers. But all of the Rose Quartz’s are bubbled- And there’s nothing we can do about it.” She hadn’t even realized she began to ramble.

“Sorry, hehe~ I got lost there for a sec! Thanks for being kinda nice to me, it’s refreshing. And... We like seeing you here, too. Though you don’t talk much. Your friend though... Yellow Pearl... She can be a little rude to all of us. But that isn’t your fault, and hey! We’re used to that stuff!” She looked down at the blue uniform she now wore, “If I’m trusting you... Before she was taken from us... We were all treated really well. She was so kind to me, though I- I’m defective. Stayin’ under the Earth for too long n’all... I like Blue Diamond. But she isn’t... Like Pink Diamond. Though I’d never tell just anybody how I feel.”

“…….. yes but a pearl in my position doesn’t have room to feel otherwise…….. we aren’t held to the same expectations as the other pearls, and I’m expecting not to go into detail over it….. I’m sure you’ve seen what I mean……” She wasn’t a timid gem, it was obvious in times like this that she was actually quite an observant and carefull pearl. Being so observant her next words were no surprise to those that knew her well. “You are tense….. and watching your step far too carefully…. you needn’t worry about what is said here……. pearls may talk…… but I would never speak in a way that would put another gem in danger…… your in a safe place……. despite being in….. this place……. I noticed the way you moved when I mentioned Holly Blue Agate your eyes flinched…… I don’t miss much……. that is why my diamond has kept me so long…… I keep an eye out…… especially since…… she fell……. my sympathies for your diamond are not just for you…… but for Blue Diamond as well…….. I know it may be hard to see, but she does care about you all….. she sent you here as a way to let you be as close to your diamond as you could be……. she really did mean well I promise……..”

she made sure to maintain the hold. She did feel for the quartz gems that lived here. She felt bad that they had to live seemingly in exile to others of their kind…….. but she also knew it would be far worse for them on homeworld…… she knew this was where they were safest. A small smile graced her face.

“you are quite cheerful…… I’ve always enjoyed that about all of you here……. sometimes I wish we would never leave……. I enjoy seeing all of you when you think nogem is watching…… you aren’t like the quartz gems back on homeworld….. it’s nice……. don’t let what Holly Blue Agate says change who any of you are…….. you’re all a breath of fresh air really……” She commented softly. She truely liked these gems. She only wished she could do more for them. “So really…… don’t hide your thoughts from me……. you are safe for now…… I will not be discussing anything said between us will stay between us. You have my word on that….. from there you will have to trust me…..”

Carnelian whined, “But, Skinny, that’s not faiiiiiir! I finished mine already, if we were friends you wouldn’t make me do iiiiit...” The little red gem begins to pout, she knew there wasn’t a very big chance of getting out of it though...

“WOO HOOO!!! SO MUCH CHAOS!” She leaned against Amethyst, a content calmness filling the area. This almost felt like a dream, “Pearl isn’t gonna know what hit her!”

Though upon hearing her sisters short story, she turned around to face her completely. The bright look in her eyes seemed to be replaced with something a tad more serious... “That brute was always full of herself, sis... With us, it’s NEVER like that- As soon as you told us exactly who you were, there wasn’t a mistake you were our missing sister. YOU ARE ONE OF US!” She squeezed her sister tightly, “Ameee, you’re ANYTHING but a joke~”

“Well, you’ve come to the right Gem!” Carnelian snickers, gripping Pearl’s hand tight in her own, “Holly isn’t far from here... Shouldn’t be, at least.” She listened to Blue Pearl talk about her Diamond, the diamond who perished. She didn’t really know how to feel personally, she truthfully never felt like THIS was her home. Yet what could she do, right?

“And psh, I wish all of ya would stop saying things like ‘oh I’m just a Pearl’ like you STILL have feelings and stuff, like us! Just don’t tell Holly Blue I said that!” Not that she cared much, it was just nice going a day without her constant bickering. The rebels having come and gone sparked something in Carnelian she couldn’t explain, she felt.. More alive in a sense.

Though she didn’t dare slip this to the Pearl next to her, her, herself knowing how chatty they could be with one another. And a Diamond finding out... Would be disastrous for this facility. And she only cared because her family was currently living there. “Soooo~ What do ya think of the place!? Pretty boring, right?”

The slightly timid gem seemed to be caught off guard by the red quartzs behavior but followed without question. She didn’t often interact with the quartz gems. She usually avoided them though she did try to listen to every word they said. It was often one could tell how things stood and what was REALLY happening by those that were at the bottom of the pyramid of things……. Pearls often had the best string of gossip really, while Quartzs often were the best way to tell the state of affairs…… she knew how these earth warriors felt about things……

“thank you….. I’ve already been looking for quite some time now…..” She replied, her voice as soft and quiet as ever as they moved threw the hallways as she herself made sure to maintain a slower calm pace after hearing Holly Blue yell at the quartzs for running in the halls. She had no intention of having this gem gain another strike against her on her own account. She blinked at the question before offering an sympathetic small smile. She knew how they all felt about the situation now. “Oh….. yes…… my diamond is currently in your diamonds room……. I have never had the opportunity to offer up my own condolences for the loss of your diamond….. I wish there was something I could do to make things easier for you all but…… I am only just a pearl.”

she was used to the way things were…… and she had no reason to try and change it, not that she could do much. It was as she said, and it was clear she was far too broken down and trained mentally to even try…… she was the example of an ideal pearl….. a status she had to live up to and maintain……. it was her real job…… she was an example to all pearls on how they were expected to behave…….

She wiped her mouth vigorously when she finished, having made quite the mess of herself. It hasn’t even been a day yet and she knew she made the right choice by coming here. A sister she could really relate to... Nothing else could ever live up to this.

“OOOOO!!!” She bounced, clapping her hands, “Let me try!!!” She focused her happy thoughts on one of Amethyst’s nearby piles of junk. She took a running leap, forming a ball before she hit the ground. 

She zipped forward, forming her spin dash attack as she crashed into the junk pile sending things flying everywhere.

She bursts into laughter, now laying within the destroyed pile of junk. “OH MAN! I REALLY WISH I TRIED THAT SOONER!” She clutched her stomach as she laughed, tears pricking her eyes, “I’m so happy, sis. Our alone time is a blast! You can have me to yourself all you want!” She gives her a wide grin, “Ya know, sometimes I think it’s BETTER being this way... We’re Unique! No one can ever take our thunder away.”

The red Quartz grabbed another pile of food, stuffing her face. This time she chews it really good, letting it mush around in her mouth before she swallows. Each time, her stomach would make that little sound and she’d giggle. Amethyst was right, this WAS all so awesome!

“Sis, after this you’ve GOT to show me that super cool spin dash thing you did... I want to learn how to do that SO BAD.” She already thought the world of Amethyst, looking up to her as a little sister would her big. Yet something else crept upon her mind that she hadn’t thought of yet,

“Oh yeah...! What about the others? Do you live with any of them? And what happens if they find me here?”

“Oh, Okay!” This was still a pretty awesome place, sleeping here would be great.

She sits down on her hands and knees, observing her sisters movements carefully. She curiously took a look at the Pizza box.. And then at the poster of the human body. She took the box from Amethyst, sniffing it extensively before she shoved the entire thing in her mouth.

“Hmm......” Her body began to glow slightly, telling her she’s done what she needed to. She swallows the box with little effort of chewing, 

“I think that’s right, I hope so! Woah..Aha.. This feels really weird!” She giggles, snorting a bit as her new stomach made a small gurgling sound.

She gazed around her sister’s room in awe of the place, it was huge, it was messy... It was AMAZING! This just kept getting better and better for the little Gem. 

“Woah sis, THIS is your home? It’s SO much better than my old cubby! Holly would never let us express ourselves like this.” In fact... Until Amethyst and her rebel friends came along, no one really knew what ‘expressing one’s self’ meant. 

“Food... Isn’t that the stuff the humans in the Zoo get every so often? That comes out of the trees?” She tilts her head, “I’ve never had food! All I know is I think it goes in the mouth.”

“Oh yeah definitely!” She grabbed her arm and started running towards the temple.  “Let’s sneak ya into the temple. You can stay in my room.”

“She actually COWERS to us, and she’s ALWAYS paranoid we’re going to pull something on her now.” She beamed a wide, bright smile.

“Sounds like a plan to me!” 

She cheerfully ran with Amethyst, thinking about all of the amazing things they could possibly do together now that she was here. “This has to be the BEST day of like.. My ENTIRE existence!” The mention of staying in Amethyst room only fueled her excitement.

Carnelian practically tackled Amethyst, laughing loudly and happily. She couldn’t believe she found her sister that fast, this was so awesome!

She leaned against Amethyst once they pulled away, letting out an excited snort. “I totally escaped right from under Holly’s nose! She’s so clueless, I can’t believe it took YOU GUYS to show us that! We’ve been having so much fun making her life hell!”

“But... I missed you a lot so I... I... Came to find you. I came to stay. What do ya say?”

That voice...

She recognized that voice! It had to be her!

She ran towards the sound of Amethyst’s voice at full speed, practically tripping over her own two feet in the process. She was SO excited to be here, she wanted to leave when they left but simply could not.

“Amethyst...! It’s me! Carnelian!”
