A molecule has been found that activates a protein that increases the body's immune response to infections and cancer. It was discovered by American scientists from the SCRIPPS Research center. The interferon gene stimulator (STING) has the ability to direct the immune system against cancers and various viruses. But, its natural activators in the body are unstable molecules that are quickly destroyed. Scientists are trying to solve this problem. They synthesized a STING activator called SR-717. It works just like a natural one. Regular injections of SR-717 significantly reduced the growth of an aggressive form of melanoma in experimental mice and prevented metastases. Today we'd like to show you a small side non-commercial project our data scientists came up with as they work on our own neural network. Our colleagues from the International Skin Imaging Collaboration (ISIC) and the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM), as well as data scientists from all over the world, have created Open Source algorithms that study potential image-based melanoma probability check. Using their technologies, we've built a website where you can upload a picture of any skin spot and see the probability of skin cancer. We hope this can be useful to some people. Unfortunately, this technology heavily depends on the picture quality and a massive amount of other factors. So given its current capabilities, it doesn't provide sufficient accuracy to serve as any major breakthrough in early detection, but we believe that it's important to draw people's attention and support towards projects like these, which will potentially benefit tens of thousands of people.
