I am really liking the idea of flow and the flow state. The Taoism ideology really reflects it. Taoism reflects the act on non-action, doing without thinking. This is strongly in line with the flow state we enter when doing things we love. Such as painting or playing sports. The mind is no loinger consciously acting, the body is relying on instinct and flow.

All about (as the title suggests) camera movement. I love how this video is put together, as not only does it educate you on the types and methods of camera movements, but it tells you WHY it is done, and HOW it intends to make the audience feel. I really enjoyed learning about the dolly zoom. It its very interesting how camera movement plus the change in zoom/focal length changes the feel of the scene/setting. I would strongly recommend everyone to watch this.

Sometimes there are instances where you want to film people like your friends or family, but they can just be so awkward in front of camera, especially because they know its rolling. I like what Brandon has to say in regards to elevating this issue to get more natural shots, but also his overall mindset and philosophy on shooting people. I would really recommend watching this video.

In conjunction with a previous video I posted on my blog, the use of ND Filters when shooting video is so so important when trying to achieve buttery smooth cinematic footage. ND filters, the “sunglasses for your camera” are so vitally important when it comes to video, as you want to shoot and a certain shutter speed that compliments your frame rate, and a lot of the time that shutter speed is 1/50. That’s letting a lot of light in ang when wanting two preserve both the smoothness and a creamy depth of field through aperture, you do not want to increase those settings - shutter and aperture. But the ND Filter  allows you to film and your desired shutter speed by blocking some of the light that coms into the camera! So so cool!!!

I am constantly learning more and more about cameras and how to achieve different effects with different camera settings. This video explains shutter speed and how the shutter can make your footage have different looks and feels!

Some ways editing can help push a narrative. Very cool how editing and shot selection really helps with how the narrative is pushed. This is obvious, but I love how the storytelling can be manipulated through the editing process, and how the clip you originally shoot is only a base layer. The edit and the way/sequence it is edited can really dictate the feel of the clip/s. Also, there is a clip where they are using film and editing. How difficult and tedious must that have been! Having to physically cut up thr film! Editing is made so much easier now haha.
