God before Luke, Layton was like. a step removed from his breakfast being a coffee and a cigarette but he doesn't smoke and is too british so it was just a tea.

You're probably right on that of Luke speaking his mind sooner if he's hungry. I haven't played LS in a while.

Luke schedule.... that's so cute, yes I do think he does keep the Luke schedule after Luke is gone. He may slip up a bit sometimes but for the most part, he can keep it up.

There's such a dramatic improvement for the better from LS to UF. AND!!!! from what little we see from NWOS with just the outfit change he def looks like he's doing a lot better than he was when he usually wore those ugly comfortable shoes and comfortable sweater. I mean, dress shirt? DRESS SHOES?? He looks like he fits the gentleman part more than he did before.

I'm going to have to go off from just vibes since I never played either of the spinoffs.

My guess is dogshit self care all the way for both of them since Layton also? disappeared? and wasn't there to guide anyone.

Alfendi looks like he smokes he might even be worse off

Katrielle I think she runs from a wrecking ball from the game or anime trailer I think(? So at least she continues Layton's legacy of pulling dangerous stunts for the thrill of it like that. (what's wrong wih him)

This might be a fun thought to revisit once I actually get to know the characters lol

Hi prev I love your Laytonposts sorry I'm stealing your tags but I have many thoughts about that !!!

How I see it, Layton was not taking great care of himself before Luke showed up. He could barely keep a plant alive back then. Now with Luke suddenly in the picture, Layton has a constant reminder that he can't neglect basic needs. The boy gets hungry (often!), gets bored, gets tired, gets sleepy, etc. The pressure of not neglecting the boy was the push to stop neglecting himself.

I wonder how that drastic change to how he was used to living must have gone?? probably not very smoothly??

Layton barely having any food in his fridge is probably one of the first things Luke ever noticed. Did Luke ever go hungry sometimes because Layton Forgot and he was too polite to ask?? Did Layton feel horrible when Luke finally had to tell him? Like good heavens my boy why didn't you say so??? Luke getting tired when walking around a lot on trips becomes a cue to stop and rest for a bit. Luke getting sleepy at the end of the day also starts being Layton's cue to start having a functional sleep schedule and not work late into the night (too often).

Another thing I remember is that Layton was NOT prepared to take Luke back with him when getting back from Misthallery so his place could've also been a mess.

He absolutely got better of taking care of himself by forcing himself to be a good example for Luke but I think it happened gradually.
