Fashion is art
What we wear, especially in everyday life, is often nothing special. But can fashion also be a form of art?
Yes.
It is a creative process, often inspired by the environment, political movements or current issues. Fashion is a statement and represents the designer in a certain way. When a new garment is created, the cut, fabric, colour or pattern and details must be in harmony. The inventor has to deal with this first. Before something is cut, a rough sketch must be made. Then cuts must be made. Once all this is done, the first models can be made. Fashion is a special art form and requires a certain kind of artist. In my opinion fashion is the best art form there is. But even here the question sometimes arises, is this art or can it be removed?

Fast fashion
"fast fashion" describes an economic form developed for the fashion world.
Every year, many new collections appear, whose only purpose is: to be quickly distributed to department stores all over the world, to disappear just as quickly from the shop windows and be replaced by a new collection.
What at first glance seems like a good idea, quickly draws the negative sides.
Most consumers follow this industry strategy. There is a constant purchase of new clothes. Of course this is expensive, so the collections must not exceed a certain price, which in turn affects the quality and production.
Cheap production leads to cheap labour. The suffering of employees in emerging markets is very high, their pay is so low that they can hardly live.
The wearers of the clothing are also exposed to the disadvantages. Chemicals that help to beautify the clothes are highly harmful to health. It can cause breathing difficulties or rashes.
You should think about how you invest your money and for what. Sometimes less is more.

Function of clothing
Since humans exist, there are also clothes. At that time clothing was used to protect the given weather conditions. It was important to protect oneself from cold, rain and snow. Furs were used for this.
But soon it also got a meaning as body decoration until the term "fashion" was finally developed.
In the 15th century the term "fashion" originated in France, as a meaning for "topicality".
The three characteristics: silhouette, colour and material determined the new fashion from year to year. When these characteristics change, the trend changes.
To date, nothing has changed in this approach.

Curvy
Beauty ideals shape our daily life. These are supported by social networks in which flawless women are presented to us. Quickly and unconsciously we compare ourselves with unrealistically "perfect women." More and more often influencers face reality. They post unedited pictures. Cellulite is not uncommon here. Unfortunately, many women suffer from such a tissue disorder and feel less beautiful as a result. The same is true for curvier women. Just because there are no ribs to be seen and you wear size L instead of XS, the lives of many women are marked by complexities. The times and the ideal of a perfect woman change again and again. Curvy models are a new movement in the fashion world. A few years ago it was unimaginable to see curvy models on the catwalk.

Small black
It's not just a dress. It's a statement. Coco Chanel introduced it in Vogue 90 years ago. With the words, "This simple dress will become a uniform for women of taste". That's quite a revolutionary statement in 1926. Because in the 1920s, the colour black was more reserved for grieving widows - of which there were still many in the "Golden Twenties". For the First World War had made countless women widows at that time. At the same time, it is precisely in this decade that women are taking their first tentative steps towards emancipation. The skirts become shorter, the figure is emphasized. The mourning dress may be black, but please be a little more pleasing. Coco Chanel has freed women from the corset with this simple dress. Nevertheless it still has a long way to go before it becomes the classic it is today. Screen goddesses from Marilyn Monroe to Brigitte Bardot wear it - the cinema screens are full of them. But it remains too wicked for everyday use.

fashion through the ages
Fashion of the 50s
The fashion of the 50s was definitely one thing: female. Tight-fitting dresses with lavish décolletés, petticoats or pencil skirts shaped the cityscape of the time and wearing a bodice was also part of daily routine. Trousers were hardly ever worn. Appearance of a Grand Dame.
Style icons: Actresses Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Coco Chanel or Romy Schneider
Fashion of the 60s
In contrast to the 50s, the aim in this decade was to show as little bust and waist as possible. The boy's look conquered the younger generation and brought new, shrill colours. Skirts with straps, trouser suits and above all the miniskirt caused a great stir and stood for a change of the fixed norms of the past. Graphic prints and wild colour combinations were also a clear feature of the fashion of the time.
Style icons: Model Twiggy, America's First Lady Jackie Kennedy, Brigitte Bardot and actress Uschi Obermaier
Fashion of the 70s
The 70s were the decade of the flower power movement. The time of the hippie culture was also reflected in the fashion of that time and brought along the Peace sign, flower embroideries, wide bell-bottoms and crocheted clothes. Dresses and skirts became longer again and were oriented towards the Indian and cowboy look. Fashion quickly became a means of self-expression and was considered the lifestyle of an entire generation.
Style icons: Singer Cher, the band ABBA, actress and singer Jane Birkin, actress Talitha Getty
Fashion of the 80s
Also in the 80s bright colours and eye-catching prints were the order of the day. However, tops became wider and wider and bell-bottoms were replaced by tight-fitting leggings. Neon colours suddenly belonged to every outfit and wild accessories enjoyed great popularity. The main thing is funky. The rest of the styling was just as wild as the clothes at that time. Bright eye shadow and stormy hairstyles completed the look.
Style icons: Strong singers like Madonna, Cindy Lauper or Grace Jones, Grease Star Olivia Newton-John
Fashion of the 90s
In the 90s, music in particular had a great influence on the fashion of the time. The Techno and HipHop scene with its wide trousers and platform soles shaped the appearance of the youth of that time and looks became more and more permissive. No matter if a crop top or even just a bikini top, there was hardly anything that was not allowed. T-shirt prints and eye-catching prints were particularly popular and were also gladly created by the wearer.
style icons: singer Gwen Stefani and supermodels like Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer or Naomi Campbell, the Spice Girls
Fashion of the 2000s
The 21st century was rung in and tinted sunglasses, hipsters and so-called tube tops resulted in the special mix of 2000s fashion. Clothing in futuristic monochrome or metallic fabrics was a widespread trend alongside the Jeans All Over look and could even be seen on the red carpet. But also Capri- or 3/4 trousers were very popular and belong to the typical features of the fashion of that time.
Style icons: It Girl Paris Hilton, actress Lindsay Lohan and the singers Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera
fashion today
Even though many trends make their way back into our wardrobe, the current fashion is characterised by straight lines, muted colours and fine accessories. A mix of sporty and classic garments thus creates a modern and style-conscious look suitable for any situation. Colour accents create that certain something and quickly conjure up a harmonious outfit.
Style icons: Vogue legend Anna Wintour, designer Victoria Beckham, actress Sarah Jessica Parker, and princess Kate Middleton
