First meetings and clarifications

I feel like Hollow’s understanding of the whole “sacrifice yourself to save the kingdom” thing was more of an abstract concept to them before they met Hornet.

Like. Of *course* they’re going to seal the infection when they’re all grown up, it’s what father wants, after all.

But I think it’s not until they meet Hornet for the first time, that they’re able to put the idea onto something tangible. The first time they hold her in their arms, look into her eyes, and see nothing but the pure love, innocence, and curiosity that only a baby can have for the world around them, is also the first time they actively decide to be the vessel that contains the Radiance.

Before, they were just going through the motions, doing what they’re told, when they’re told etc. But now, whether they realise it or not, they WANT to save Hallownest and its people, they WANT to know that their baby sister is going to grow up safe and happy, and wyrm help anyone who tries to stop that from happening, even ancient dream goddesses.

And then they’re finally introduced to the kingdom and they’re actually able to visualise how many people are at risk of the infection, and that only further secures their desire to help.

(Also PK calling Hornet their sister is 100% just a slip of the tongue lmao)

many thoughts on how hornet & hollow interacted with one another.. hollow is probably apprehensive about forming relations with her as they’ve been taught to be void of emotion but end up feeling pity for hornet as she’s already lost her mother & end up becoming slight friends with the situations they’re both in mirroring the other. hollow has to leave too, eventually.
