Silly TOTP Christmas Gif-Set — Take That 90’s

Did some draw-overs of Robbie and the rest of Take That as apes.

Explanations:

Howard: Gorilla. He's considered "The Body" of the group. Muscular and looks pretty tough. Is actually a softie.

Jason: Orangutan. I kinda picked it for the pun, but since Orangutans are the most intelligent of the bunch, I think this decision is becoming more and more fitting.

Mark: Gibbon. I mean... come on. He's the cute one! Gotta make him the cute monkey.

Gary: Bonobo. Very similar to chimpanzees, but smaller. Initially I wanted to give the gorilla to Gary, but the bonobo fitted much better solely because of the whole Robbie v. Gary thing. Two monkeys duking it out to see who's the king of the jungle.

The idea I had for the rest of the four is inspired by a section from Gary Barlow's autobiography "My Take":

As well as the tagline for Better Man itself:

"Fame makes monkeys of us all"

Initially, they would be humans, but as time goes on, they turn into performing monkeys. Its both a visual metaphor of how fame alters not just who you are but how others see you, becoming dehumanized until you are something that would be considered as... well, not human.

Better Man was a good watch, I was so looking forward to seeing how they portrayed Gary and Robbie’s relationship but it left me wanting. That being said, there were some “blink and you’d miss it” moments that stood out to me:

- Robbie drawing hearts on Gary’s head

- Gary covering for Rob when he said fuck off to Nige

- Robbie getting a h*nd j*b and being asked to role play as Gary, and then him taking over and briefly looking at Gary as he j*rked off.

- That scene where Gary asked him to show him his lyrics, it was a little flirty lol
