OCTOBER 4 (DAY 61)
During my last four hours as an intern at the department, I came across something I never thought would happen. I will honestly miss the rusty primitive printer.
The professors present during the morning parted a few words of gratitude and advices in life and my future career. While the experience was a little tiring, especially, the waking up early in the morning part, it also exposed me to the kind of world a working individual witnesses. Though clerical, the work experince is surely helpful.
Here are various accomplishments I managed to create and finish during this OJT endeavor.

Overall, I have proven that experience beats you but nothing really beats experience.

JULY 17 (DAY 20)
I take back everything I said on the first entry. I was transferred to another department, under the Dean's orders. The Biology Department welcomes you! The professors were nice but there wasn't any face AT ALL.
Unlike the previous department where we were instructed to help mostly with the documents, I was assigned different layout and editing jobs. I had to unleash my creative skills (assuming I have any) and make simple yet elegant projects ranging from the likes of program invitations and tarpaulin designs to calling cards, which required photographic tampering or editing.

Here are various projects I was instructed to do.

AUGUST 15 (DAY 35)
Being the only intern at the new department, I sometimes struggled to follow through all the instructions while attempting to finish the stack of tasks I was assigned to.
I was in charge of compiling undergraduate theses as well as other documents needed for the department's accrediatation. The job was relatively easy but there was one thing that tested me: THE PRIMITIVE PRINTER. The department only had a single printer, and because of the attention it gets it decided to cause more drama by eating all the papers fed to it. So, you have no choice but to insert a single paper after paper to print multiple pages.
This month is also midterm month so I also had tasks such as checking test papers and creating posters for topnotchers. Kinda made me miss taking examinations. Crazy, right?

If I was to make a trailer about the faculty and its cast it would be something like this.
Featuring
The Primitive Printer
A4 Bondpapers
Extinct Whiteboard Markers
Disabled Water Dispenser
Undergraduate Thesis with names such as Moringa Olifera, Rosa Grandiflora and names I can't understand.
I was also tasked to create several lay out designs for a tarpaulin. Then, I had to ask the professors to choose the best one. Afterwards, I personally brought the design to the printing shop during the weekend.

SEPTEMBER 20 (DAY 52)
Surprise! Surprise! You are invited to perform at the 49th Anniversary of Bicol University. Some of my old classmates interning at other offices and my fellow interns back at the CS/IT Department were just as shocked when we were asked to perform for the BU Voices, a choir competition where selected professors and students perform local songs.
The performance consisted of a Jingle followed by the main song. The main song being "Babaeng Taga-Bikol", a song I have never heard of my entire life and SM's Jingle. Yes. I'm serious.
Here are some of my accomplishments during the month.

Oh, and one more thing. I actually fixed the primitive printer after refusing to print anything even after it's ink cartridge was cleaned and refilled. I fiddled a bit with the printer and ots settings. Ran some random printing tests and voila! The printer was fixed. This may be the highlight of this month fellas.

JUNE 27 (DAY 7)
They say nothing beats experience. On-the-job training gives students a taste of the real world and a glimpse of what is waiting for them after graduation, therefore, I think this training experience is a highly significant part of the course curriculum.
I started my internship on the 18th day of June. First off, why do your training at a school department? Well, in my case, it's familiar ground and I get to be exposed to the kind of clerical work they do. I personally think it's okay to stay in your comfort zone a little bit. Everyone will have to face the real world very soon (9 months!), and there's no stopping it. Why hurry?
Tumblr media
Almost all the professors at the CS/IT Department previously handled classes I was in so I was familiar with most of them. I slowly started to feel comfortable in the place along with two other inters whom I haven't really had the chance to actually talk to before this training.
This is my view of the CS/IT Department. We were each given tables, a place to work at.

Mostly, days were spent assisting the professors with the required documents for the upcoming accreditation, we ended up extending working hours to help.
Let me boss all the things I learned during the time:
1. How to be a professional paper jam expert
2. Practice giving an autograph by receiving letters and memos everyday
3. Receive calls like a call center agent
4. Answer queries from students and concerned individuals. (and the help desk personnel awardee goes to)
Admittedly, there were hours when I was struggling to look busy by scribbling in my nptebook or typing on my laptop while making my eyebrows meet so I would look serious. But there were also a lot of hours when you couldn't sit for a whole minute without being called to help with something. Exhausting? Yes. But once you finish the job, it's also extremely gratifying.
JULY 10 (DAY 16)
July came in like a wrecking ball. The first two weeks wew tough. Extended working hours and muscle cramps defined it. Everyone was busy with the upcoming accreditation, therefore, there was even more work to accomplish.
But it also meant more catering services. Yum!

Here is my new-found talent: How to ringbind like a pro.

Numerous trips to the dean's office and the registrar caused my black shoes to have an physical breakdown. Don't you give up on me black shoes.

Have you ever been attracted to a woman, to the point of suffering terribly when she’s not there? I can spend hours imagining her with my eyes closed- the shape of her face, the softness of her skin, the merry sparkle of her eyes.. To the extent that in miserable times, I only think of her absence.

The sun continues to rise but it lacks the life it used to possess
“Your name is Icarus and you will do anything you can to reach him You fly high Your waxen wings feeling as sturdy as steel as you soar into the clouds Reaching for the sun
Your name is Apollo and you reach down Trying to catch the boy flying towards you His skin is dark and his hair a mess of curls and you hope You hope that this angel’s wings will hold
Your name is Icarus and you will be damned if your father does not approve His wings have long since failed him and his life has no say in yours You stare straight into the sun knowing that even if it blinds you it will be the most beautiful thing You will ever see
Your name is Apollo and you are the sun that shines and the bird that sings and you will not See this boy fall Your only desire is to hold him Your only want is to touch him Your only prayer is to feel him Him Him Him
Your name is Icarus and you tried to reach for god You try to meet him even when you know you could burn You know you could fall All you want is to hold his hand in your palm His lips against yours His breath on your neck His His His
Your name is Apollo and you have fallen for Icarus
Your name is Icarus and you have flown too close to the sun
Your name is Apollo and you will catch him
Your name is Icarus and you cannot be caught
Your name is Apollo and godhood is not worth this
Your names are Icarus and Apollo and you are a boy and the sun
Your names are Icarus and Apollo and the ocean boils around you
Your names are Icarus and Apollo and you finally are able to hold, to touch, to feel
Your names are Icarus and Apollo and you have no need to be the world’s sons as long as you have each other
Your name is Icarus and you have grasped the sun
Your name is Apollo and you have caught him”

‘A meteorite hits a human being every one hundred and eighty years’
How did you just land into my life like that? I could compare you to rain, but you were a meteorite: colossal, slightly destructive. Eyes like the milky way and then some. Pupils: a black, full moon. Bottom lip plump melting into mine like a peach or plum. Hair in my hands in my grip in my mouth in our laughter. Smiling as you kiss my lips which reminds me that you are a meteorite. And I am the happiest cluster of space dust imaginable.

"When I'm happy I don't smile, I glow." - Rupi Kaur
I am absolutely enchanted by the sound of your laughter,
Both awed and amused at the same time Wondering how such shrieks could come from you With your skin enamored with scars And eyes highlighted by sleepless nights and bad dreams, I am at loss for the proper response after laughter escapes your mouth, Because how can a person so burdened with pain and suffering laugh such an outrageous laugh As if she is adrift calm waters and not storms and whirlpools I love the way you laugh, How little lines form on the sides of your eyes, And your back arcs inward to show how your body can't bear the overwhelming laughter, As if every synapse brings about a happy thought to your mind and this baby, is in revolt of when you told me not to write about the way you laugh But how could I not, when the sound of it still echoes in my mind after your I seal your lips shut with my kiss Unable to speak and at a loss for words to say.
