I like to learn about true crime, as a women I don’t know why other women like me watch it me and my mom both do but I’m going in to a criminology field. I learned somewhere (can’t remember where) but it talks about people who like dark or taboo thinks find it more comfortable, I think it’s because women are afraid of being the next victim that we educate ourselves about the patterns and behaviors of dangerous people.

The phenomenon of true crime among women fascinates me.

My mother watches ID Channel, Dateline, etc. I asked her why, and she said it’s because she likes seeing the criminals get caught.

I don’t know. It doesn’t bring me any pleasure. I find it deeply disturbing. I see myself in the victims- the women. I just wonder about the psychology of these crimes, the vast majority of them committed by men. It is something outside of my range of understanding.

Are women who watch/read/listen to true crime content just trying to expose themselves to televised terror in order to feel world-prepared? To feel that through watching these stories, they can avoid becoming the victim?

I love true crime and have recently been reading on tumblr, but this is getting annoying. You are a fucking sick individual and I’m tired of seeing post about how much you wanna be fucked by a serial killer. It’s disrespectful to the victims and families. You aren’t special, you’re life wouldn’t be spared, they DONT love you. Even to mention the fact that most popular serial killers RAPED CHILDREN! Even killed. It’s fucking gross. If you believe that you can’t control it, I would recommend reading about that kids story. Thank you now pls fuck off.
