quaker oats is disgusting and I will go out of my way to never eat anything made by them again. they kept at least one factory so disgusting that when the FDA said Hey you need to actually follow health regulations (in response to a MASSIVE fucking recall due to contamination that made a ton of people sick, and anecdotally myself and several people I know got sick from food that was NOT recalled) they said actually it would be too hard to follow health regulations and SHUT THE FACTORY DOWN INSTEAD
AND THEY TARGET SO MANY OF THEIR PRODUCTS AT CHILDREN

Spent tonight at a local short film festival. One of the shorts was made by two 12 year olds in their backyard and it was the best short of the entire night

[AMV] Jon Arbuckle - You’re Gonna Go Far Kid
this is one of my favorite videos on the internet, and it kills me that the source has been silenced by youtube’s copyright system, so I’m putting it here!
I have seen a version of this on tumblr before, but the audio in that one is just a little bit off because that person edited it back in themselves
but today, I am proud to present the original video, sent to me by Crispy Crungy, who gave me permission to upload it here and share it with you all!
enjoy!

People still tend to lump JK Rowling in with the category of ~problematic artists~ and I need everyone to understand that is not the problem with her. She is not comparable to anyone who wrote a piece of fiction you hate, or someone who made rude comments in 2015 and has since learned better.
She is far more like Elon Musk. She is a radicalized person with an extreme amount of social and financial power, and for YEARS she has been using that power to try to influence her government into hurting vulnerable people, on purpose. And she has succeeded. THAT is the problem with her, and THAT is why spending money on her books is so dangerous, not because her books aged badly.
Critiquing her work is fine, of course (I personally was never a fan so I really don’t care) but you NEED to understand that fiction is not the main issue here. And I truly think acting like she’s the same as the rest of any giant list of ~problematic creators of the week~ waters down how dangerous she is.

Glad everyone is getting so much joy from early Quaker names! Looking forward to seeing any future pets/children/bands/drag acts named after stuff on this list.

I recently thought of an extension to Ford being experimented on headcanon. Loosely inspired by @mother-ofthe-universe.
While traversing an alien planet, a group belonging to the planet's government captures him and takes him away.
Ford was then forcibly implanted with an experimental prototype cybernetic spine (along with possible augmentations to go with it if it needed them). The scientists there merely saw him as a test subject.
He was also implanted with a chip that allows for universal translation of alien planets.
Despite being an experimental prototype (meaning it has a few bugs), the spine proved to be useful. Ford was forced to undergo tests after tests to see what it can do and what needed to be improved.
Ford wasn't sure of the reason for the spine's creation, his main assumption was it was for warfare.
The spine enhanced his speed, strength, agility, and durability. It doesn't make him immortal, just veeeeeery hard to kill.
He had to take medicine for the implant due to side effects, but his need for medication slowly waned as the side effects became less common.
One of the many changes to Ford since the implant was his eyes changing color from brown to blue and gaining tapetum lucidum.
The government scientists plan to use Ford as an agent, but he manages to escape...obviously with the cybernetic spine.
