Richard Hescox, “First Contact.” When I wanted to include this artwork in my art collection, I reached out to the artist for more information on where it was first published and got a surprising answer: Never. Hescox created it as a sample for his portfolio in 1975.

My art collection has a nice clean version of it in my section about gunfights in space. So, today is the first time this one has appeared in print!

I am drawing the vampire brides and I'm almost finished with the lineart, but I'm realizing that the historical clothes I spent hours researching and drawing from museum pictures just Don't Match The Vibe I was going for

I had an idea of what I wanted to draw and went to the chapter to read the women's description again, but in my enthusiasm and late Victorian research rabbit hole, I ended up not reading the whole scene and contradicting the book :/

Also I gave them all day dresses because the evening dresses that I found from around that time just looked too dainty for them, but then afterwards I thought that might work thematically with them being like wolves in sheep's clothing

I'm not sure what I'm going to end up doing with their clothing, but I wanted to draw them in something with the sort of previously unattainable bright colors that became popular during the Victorian era

The thing is, I don't care about making this as historically accurate as I can as much as I care about making it look cool, but the high necklines and long sleeves I chose just aren't doing it for me
